I really want user profiles on my tab. does anyone know if there is a rom with working user profiles? All of the roms I have tried either have it missing or have warnings in the thread saying it doesn't work.
Ideally it would support the forward camera (most of the recent ones I have seen do). and pretty stable.
Cheers

cm10.2 support user profiles without any problems. You can get it there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398003

I've searched all over today, but I have only found a couple of threads on the issue, none of which seemed to give a clear answer. I now have my first Android phone (Atrix). I love the customization potential of the platform, but it seems a little choppy at times on the graphical side of things. What I want to know is this: is it possible to create an Android rotation effect, such as the iPhone has when switching between portrait and landscape modes? Can this be achieved with simple root access and development, or would it take a custom kernel? Are there any themes or ROMs which provide this possibilty. I know I can't run a custom kernel on the Atrix, but I'd still like to know, for future referenece. Thanks!
Only thing I've ever heard is that as it's a feature of honeycomb do we may see it added either in honeycomb roms or ported into gingerbread from honeycomb. Obviously we'd need Google to release the code first.

Okay, thanks. That's good to know.
I really like 'trying out' different custom roms for my Galaxy S I9000 but I kinda wonder what does what?
For example, I want calendar appointments shown on my Pattern(!)-lockscreen. Some Roms can do this, others can't. Is this Rom-package-related? Or can I just try another kernel? As far as I can see most Roms can but CM not.
Another example, the Battery animation (and functionality) when charging with phone turned off. Rom-package or kernel related? Again, as fas as I can see (this time other way around), CM does this, other (Slim-based?) roms don't.
I suggest you go for CM 9 or AOKP. They contain most (If not all) of the features you've mentioned. (I'm really not sure about the calender appointments appearing on the pattern lock screen)
All of those features are ROM based and not Kernel based.
The kernel mainly deals with with how the hardware and software interact (A very basic understanding )
So give CM 9 or AOKP a go. In fact, I'd encourage you to try out a range of different ROMS (like you've been doing so far) and see which one suits you the best. The best way to learn is to become a flashaholic, get educated, make comparisons and choose what's best for you and your needs.
Thanks Lord Santa
Thank's for your reply!
However, I've ried AOPK, great rom but missing the battery-animation and functionality when phone turned off (like possibility to turn Phone on while charging).
I have also tried CM, also great but mssing the callendar-appointments on Pattern-lockscreen. Showing appointments is possible on optional swipe-screen prior to pattern-lockscreen.
Since active notifications uses the special coprocessor why hasn't someone found the code and created an API required for its use. Apps like Knock Notifactions and others that make custom notifications would greatly benefit from using this.
also stuff like daydream

this would work great with stuff like a modified version of Android Daydream
I would like to be running the (unofficial) Carbon rom described here on my HD+ -- it is super-fast compared to CM10.2 M1 snapshot. But multiuser doesn't work for me with Carbon. If I create either another user or a restricted profile, as soon as I try to access the second user I am rewarded with an instant reboot. I was running the multiwindow version, but I don't imagine multiwindow has any effect on this. Has anyone else seen this, and can anyone suggest a direction to look for fixes?
[I really should be posting this directly in the development thread, but I'm prevented from doing so because apparently I'm a stoopid noob.]
I tried reinstalling with the non-multi-window build, and voila, multi-user works! I don't know if it was the multi-window patch or something different I did in the installation and account creation procedures. But anyway, I'm happy to be running Carbon now, which is quite zippy on the HD+!
parental censoring

Hi, just to be certain... can you then apply parental filters in the other profiles?
cheers

I haven't tried any parental controls yet, but I expect that should work. The Kids Place app, for instance, claims to support multiple users.
I have flashed a couple of different custom roms on my Kindle Fire HD 7 (Tate), and each one has been 5.1.1. So far I have been unsuccessful in getting Multi-User to work. When I press on the profile picture in the pull-down, it only brings up my contact card. With the same version of Lollipop on my phone (Candy5 rom) this function works, and allows me to sign on a guest, so I don't think it's the version of Lollipop, but for some reason it doesn't work on the Kindle. I would like to set up multiple profiles so my wife and myself can share this tablet and have our own stuff while using it. At the moment I am running the "Slim-5.1.1.beta.0.9-UNOFFICIAL-20151010-0147" (which is really nice, btw). I have tried CM12, Candy5 roms also and get the same results. Hopefully I haven't broken any forum protocols, and thank you in advance for any enlightenment you can offer on this.
