[Q] lost everything?? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I decided to flash 4.3 sense 5.5 dk rom. and after I did I lost all my files that were on my sd. I just looked at my sd card memory on my computer and it is saying I have 3.54gb out of 25.49gb used. I have been looking through my sd card with ES file explorer and I can not find what is taking up 21.95gbs. So did I not loose everything and somehow it is just hidden from me? any tips on how I can track it down and regain my files or be able to free up the space. I doubt the rom is taking up that much room on its own.

Using Root Explorer, go from root to data/media/0 and look there. Let me know if that helps.....

thanks it wasn;t in the 0 folder, I was looking for it but it was in the data/media folder. Glad to have everything found. I was kinda sad cause I thought I lost some pictures I didn't back up.

Fixing "Unknown reason 18" market error

So I was getting unknown reason 18 error when trying to install certain apps from the market.
I've googled and search the forum. The best answer I could get was to wipe and reinstall the ROM, which I did not want to do.
Then I checked the logs and figured out the problem was that all those apps that would fail were trying to install on SD card by default.
The solution: move all the apps back to phone, put your microSD into a card reader and delete .android_secure folder. That's it!
didn't work for me
Worked
That worked for me. For ever I could not update Sky map. When I could not install Angry Birds I went "searching".
Thank you for the fix.
I don't think it'll work for me either.
None of my apps are on my SD. I know this because I can't even do that. When I try to transfer an app to sd it the progress bar just hangs there (doesn't move it just shows the striped pattern)
It worked!
Hey ho, it worked!! Finally the nagging issue is resolved (for me)
I can't find that folder/file! :S
.android_secure is hidden, you need to enable showing hidden files on your file manager. I use ES File Manager and it has such feature.
...or, you can just make sure your app is installed on the phone, then unmount the SD before updating.

Holy crap! It worked for me. I didn't have anything installed on the SD card either.
when your market chache is moved to the SD then move it back to the internal memory and clear the market data...
Worked for me... Thanks a lot...
i've had this error for quite some time - i realized i need to move the app back to phone in order to update it and then move it back to SD card.
Will try this method!
Thanks for posting
thank god this!!!!! work i'm was getting piss off at is unknown 18 **** it was hunting me in my dreams THANKYOU
Please, I have the same problem but I haven't space in my phone to return the SD apps. Is there another way to solve this?
Simple FIX
Just take out the sd card, install whatever is giving you an error, then pop the sd card back in. No fuss no muss!
Nice SIMPLE solution!
Thank you. Didn't involve rooting the phone, installing adb, saying magic mantras etc. etc.
Thanks

Ok, so I figured out a solution that is hopefully "better" and "quicker" for all. Simply connect your phone to your computer (as USB Mass storage), browse to the folder '.android_secure' (make sure you can view hidden files/folders in windows) and delete the file 'smdl2tmp1.asec' (I just renamed it 'smdl2tmp1.asec.delete' just in case it didn't work).
Problem solved! Everything updates just fine now and I didn't have to move any apps back from the SD card to the phone.

Yea...just this guys.
zero need to delete, move, etc.
Just unmount the SD, instead of taking it out...

[Q] SD Card not installed

Hi guys,
I recently bought a HTC One, I rooted it cause I wanted to change the htc icon to being operational so then flashed the kernel teaMSeven-sense-4.2.2-kernel-v2.1.4.zip. All appeared to be fine but now I am being told that I have no SD card installed so I can't access my photos, use my camera or access the Dropbox app properly. I presume there are some other issues but can't be sure yet. When I connect my computer to my laptop I can access the internal storage without a problem. When I go to recovery mode and go to Advanced - File Manager - sdcard I can see all the folders. Also when I go to mount and try it first gave an error that usb-otg couldn't mount and now it hangs at updating partition details.
Please help!
your sd card is there. there are some fixes in the development section. Take a look there

try this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1YiI-ZZGBs
USB OTG is not your internal storage.
I had the same issue and that video is far too complicated for what you actually need to do.
This is what I did when I upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 on my HTC One.
Issue: You will have a new place for your data now. The default under 4.2.2 is now /data/media/0. Under 4.1.2 it was /data/media. Notice the extra /0 - that's for a multi-user environment.
Resolution: Needs root access, of course.
1. Install ES File Explorer
2. Enable ES File Explorer to have root under it's settings.
3. Navigate to /data/media
4. Ta-da! All your old files are there! NOW...
5. Select and move your files that you want to keep from /media/data to /media/data/0
This worked for me 100%. My free storage was only 2.58Gb with a fresh 4.2.2 install. Because I moved all my wanted files across and deleted all the other legacy items, it's now about 13Gb free.
Used the youtube vid so thanks for that osmosizz, worked well and thought me a bit in the process like getting your java paths right!!
Will try your method Joe if this happens again, cheers

Another "Moving Apps to SD Card" Thread

Has anyone Done this yet for the z1?
Ive read all the other posts about APPS2SD but none have come up with a solution and im not sure how old they are.
Is it possible yet without Emulating Folders and stuff. None of the apps that i got told to download worked like APPS2SD, GLSD didnt interest me as its not actully moving the files, Titanium doesnt have this feature although people say it has... i have the pro version and it doesnt.
So any help as i have 0 free space now haha.

As far as I am aware this requires a Rooted Rom, and an App like Folder Mount and yes it does Move the Files.
I have about 7 GB worth of Games on my 32 GB SD card and over 9GB free on the Internal storage.
regards
So what rooted rom would you suggest? Im just using a stock rom with a recovery kernel atm.
That folder mount apo wont even install for me... It says not enough storage to install when i have delete apps to space up 3gb worth. Any idea what the prob is? Im guessing its because i dont have a rooted rom....
My fone is rooted and unlocked btw.
Have u got a guide or something to get my apps onto sdcard?

So are you rooted or not? How Folder Mount can give you a message "not enough storage" because of root.. You messing up things.
If you deleted apps to make more space, reboot your phone and Folder Mount should install.

There is not guide or anything for Apps to SD because it's not necessary, use Apps2SD, Folder Mount or Link2SD to move the data. For all of them root is needed. At the moment there is not Rom with script implemented to move data on sd so you have to use 3td parts app.
Hi have rooted my phone... Well ive got superUser asking me permission all the time, and ive got Recovery on my phone and ive flash roms, used root only apps, so im guessing ive rooted my phone lol.
Apps2sd doesnt work on Z1 i know that by reading other posts. and i still cant get that folder mount to install, still says insignificant storage.
anyone no how to unroot and un-unlock bootloader haha, at least i had more space then! lol.

[Q] "Other" is 20gigs... HTC ONE

Out of 25.* GB of storage I have, 3gb Using the storage tool on my phone, it shows that 20gb is listed under "other"... this has happened before and I used directory scan in ES file explorer, and found it was some games cache doing it, but I can not figure out how to do a root scan with ES..
I have done the SD card analyst and it only found one file over a gig and it was my ONE TWRP backup..

Why you are worried apps store there files in sdcard. They are important if you wipe files using any cleaner it is possible that some of your apps will not work.

Other files are which are not stored in the default folders. You know our phone makes some default folders like- DCIM, MUSIC, ANDROID, WALLPAPERS. Apart from these folders everything is considered as other files. Move your music and video files to the default than you will be seeing decrement in other files. Try it I am sure about it.

With ES in root-enabled mode, can you check /data/media/ folder
reason:
in 4.1.2 /sdcard = /data/media/
in 4.2.2+ /sdcard = /data/media/0/
so you may have "leftovers" (needed or unneeded) in /data/media/ which didnt get moved to /data/media/0/
(and these won't show up on your PC, only with a root-enabled file explorer)
Here is mine:
the 0 folder is your sdcard/internal storage, so dont mess with that,
the others are pretty much empty
you should check if you have any large folders in there (except 0), a good example would be CWM backups, which are stored in /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/
or possibly other files that weren't moved to 0 (your sdcard)

[Q] Undeletable files and invincible CWM backups

Hello friends of XDA,
First, Merry Christmas to all of you!
I have problems with my internal sd card and with cwm after updating from Insertcoin 4.4.2 Sense to 5.0.1 GPE from Santod. Files which I've used for the update can not be deleted. I can delete them with a file manager or with my laptop but they keep coming back. Files not bigger than 0 kb.
Also, i can't find backups made with cwm. They are however stored, as I can see that after backupping my sd card is smaller at free space. I can make them, and I can restore them, but I can't find them. I looked everywhere.
Any clues?
Thanks in advance

I already tried that. Unfortunately it does not do the trick. No visible backups, only in CWM itself. Also still the same files that can't be deleted.

I had similar issue twice first time I had to flash RUU, and second time only factory reset from bootloader fixed it.
