Some days ago I flashed the UK WWE ruu to my device to get ota updates, I am in south america and just realized that the radio for europe is not the same i use in my country. Now I have 2 questions: does this new ruu change the GSM frequencies?, right now my phone is RELOCKED and S-OFF with HBOOTH 1.54.0000, can I flash a new ruu? if so, what is needed.
RELOCKED
SHIP S-OFF RH
CID HTC_001
HBOOT 1.54.0000
RADIO 4A.17.3250.14
OS 2.24.401.8
My original CID was HTC_332 - RADIO 4A.15.3250.22 - SO 1.36.599.1
Thanks in advance

what do you mean? Now your phone doesn't connect to your carrier antenna? I did the same thing of you, i was HTC_332 on .599 soft and switched to HTC_001 .401 soft and everything working fine, I can connect to HSPA and 3g networks here in canada

Yes you are s-off you can change your cid and mid to match any ruu for M7_U and M7_UL variant
You have a M7_U running a M7_UL rom. mayby you want to reinstall a M7_U RUU? Im not sure if it will solve your issue.
I'll says just wait for someone to confirm what ive said, im not sure.

Thanks for reply, I am having some issues with my 3g connection and though that the reason is because the frequencies for 3g in europe are 900 and 1800 Mhz; here in my country the carriers use 850 and 1900 Mhz; I am not really sure if that is the reason and don´t want to make any new change to my phone without confirmation; I am really happy with the current condition of my phone and haven´t have any problem runing an UL ruu on an U device
how was you even able to even flash the wrong ruu it will normally stop this from happening

Hi,
The RUU HTC Europe 1.28.401.7 is best for UK. Install this RUU from the boot loader and change the CID of your phone to HTC_001 if it's on a different carrier. The OTA update works on this RUU and will update it to 1.29XXXXX.

Are you sure? I briefly tried to restore to stock using this, and others, all I got was an error when it tried to flash ... Wouldn't let me install because the version is older than the current UK Sim Free version I'm on ... I might be wrong as I know jack **** about S-Off and changing CID's etc but I know that on my UK Sim Free One, I couldn't restore from any of the RUU's available currently as there wasn't one that matched my version.
I'm on 1.29.401.13 btw ... Oh, still no update btw to 4.2.2 lol

Is your device on s-off and is the bootloader unlocked. Your device has to have s-off before you can successfully flash any version of any stock ruu . You will need to change the Cid as well to 11111111 before you can flash any version.
Mine was branded from 3 uk. After setting the device to s-off using instructions from the XDA forum, the bootloader was also unlocked. I didnt need to go through HTC to unlock the bootloader.
I downloaded the european wwe version and the asia wwe versions of the RUU , changed the CID from H3G_001 to 11111111 for all versions and was able to flash these roms to the phone . It even lets you flash a lower version. I then changed the CID FROM 11111111 to HTC_001 for europe and was able to download OTA updates. I even flashed the Asia version and this worked as well with the asia wwe cid.you can only flash these suceessfully if the device is s-off, bootloader unlocked and cid changed to the universal id which is 11111111. Instructiions can be found on this forum.

You don't need to s-off to downgrade you can use the toolbox software to run mainver error check (needs root) to trick the phone into thinking its on 1.00 of hoot then you can downgrade with the RUU.

Always good to learn something! .. I'm on stock, unrooted at mo though and have no plans to change that ... Yet lol
Hi,
Would someone be able to link me which RUU I need?
Network is 02UK and the one I did last night (one of the EU ones) flashed fine but the radio must have been wrong as data doesn't work.
Thanks.
Flash a different radio.. see if it helps.
Which RUU exactly did u flash ?
I'm having a similar problem - ever since going on Android Revolution HD I've been having call quality problems, and I think it's caused by switching between networks.
I bought the phone unlocked in the UK. However when I try and flash the generic Europe RUU to go back to stock, I get an error.
Does anyone know how I find out which RUU I need?
With AR HD installed (12.2 I think),
Radio is 4A.14.3250.13
HBOOT - 1.44.0000
CID appears to be HTC_001

That's a very good point, I'm not. I'll get s-off before continuing.
The error said something about it being the 'wrong' RUU - I'll try to recreate it and report back.
Hi there, so I'm looking to flash lollipop to my M7 but first want to verify I've taken the right steps.
Here's my phone's info:
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.56.00000
RADIO-4A.23.3263.28
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-4.19.631.9
eMMC-boot 2048MB
MID: PN0712000
CID: ROGER001
version-main 4.19.631.9
Now, as far as I'm aware, this is the unlocked edition of the M7. I'm hoping to use this RUU here To flash lollipop onto my phone:
RUU_M7_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_7.17.1540.7_Radio_4T.35.3218.16_10.33Q.1718.01L_release_420191_signed_2.exe (can't post link because I just registered)
My concern is that while my phone is listed as M7_UL (m7_unlocked I gather), the CID reads "Roger001". I currently have used the phone only with Virgin Mobile in Canada (Bell Canada's network) and had no problems, but I just want to make sure this won't mess up my radio or make it unusable with my carrier.
I've also gone ahead and backed up all my data from my phone on my computer, and created a nandroid backup as well (although I'm not sure if I could even use the nandroid if things went poorly, because I think I'll be losing custom recovery right?)
Any advice or links to information I might be missing would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Also, forgot to mention, my phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked.

Nope it won't work, simply because you are s-on, you require 631 RUUs simple as that, you cannot flash a 1540 RUU, however if you go s-off then you can.
M7 UL mean HTC One model 7 not sure what the u stands for, but the L is with LTE support.
You would need to s-off your phone to change the cid and flash the developer firmware in order to flash the developer 1540 ruu, s-off can only be done using sunshine and will cost $25.

So if I S-Off using rumrunner then change my CID to "BS_US001" I can successfully flash the RUU?

The procedure to s-off itself is not risky, but when s-off is achieved, you'll always have to be careful what you flash. S-OFF remove protection from crucial partitions on your phone and let you flash anything you want without verification. So if you flash something not compatible with your phone, you can brick it.

You'll be fine using dev edition on Canadian carriers. I have personally tested on Fido, Rogers, Telus and Koodo. Should work too on Bell/Virgin.

Great, thanks! In terms of what's compatible, is it pretty much just using common sense, i.e. not flashing a rom meant for the M8 or some other phone, or are there more things that could make something incompatible that I would need to learn about in the future?
Also, the ROM I posted here and intend to flash, it's for sure compatible? Sorry I know I'm probably being a bit overcautious

Yes its safe to use that ruu on your phone.
TO avoid potential brick, always make sure you flash files for
M7_U or M7_UL variant. Files for other variants (e.g M7WLS will brick your phone)
Do not try to flash roms for other phones. We often see ppl bricking their M7 because they have mistakenly flashed an HTC Droid DNA rom on it.
Check MD5 values on your download to make sure your files are not corrupted before flashing <--- important!
Ask questions if you are not sure of the file you want to flash.
---------- Post added at 06:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:09 PM ----------
and if you want to update your firmware, very important:
use a full firmware package
if using firmware package from ota files, they must be flashed incrementally.

You normally need to be on 6.xx.xxx.x or 7.xx.xxx.x firmware to use the 7.xx.xxx.x RUU. You can try to use it but im pretty sure the ruu will stop at 5% (checking headers). If so, you must flash the firmware first. You can use the 6.07.1540.2 firmware posted in my thread.
Hi everybody.
I tried many things from the other threads and tutorials but none of them worked for me. And now I am opening this thread so anyone could give me a light on this matter.
I have a HTC One M7 that I bought in Orlando, it was supposed to be the international version of the phone, but when I got to Brazil the phone only works 3G/HSPA or older tecnologies than that.
Reading the forums I found out that I can change the Radio version of it in order to properly work the 4G using Brazils LTE frequency.
At first it was a problem to gain S-OFF on it, since it was HBOOT 1.57 and stuff.
When I finally got S-OFF I proceded to change the Radio.
I download many Radios from different countries of which supposedly should be compatible with Brazils LTE Technology (Here LTE Frequency is 2600Mhz - Making Russia, India, Argentina and a few more countries compatible) and installed all of them.
None of the Radios I installed (via TWRP installer) did any change to the frequency it is using.
Does anyone know how I can really change it? Or if I am doing it right via TWRP installer.
Thanks for the help.

First s-off is not required to flash radio, only an unlocked bootloader. You can't change the frequencies of the M7, are you sure your variant support LTE? Post the output of "fastboot getvar all" (remove your imei and serialno before posting).
As for your "what should I buy next" poll, I would suggest to ask in one of the dedicated thread for that. This is an HTC forum so (almost) everyone here are HTC' fan, everyone will tell you to get the M9

S-off is required to flash and use radios designed for other cid's. Band enablement is possible with some nvram magic IIRC. Search around on xda and there are a few how-to threads.

I always thought that the radio, boot and recovery partitions were not locked with s-on on the M7 unlike some other HTC devices hence why they can be flashed from a custom recovery.

Well I guess you are using windows 8 or windows 10 or your notebook? These windows versions doesn't play nice with hboot 1.44/fastboot.
Anyway I can see from your bootloader info that your model is the M7_U which is equipped with the MSM8215 modem = No LTE radio. You'll only get 3G and HSPA+ with this variant.

Anyhow, regardless the S-On or S-Off I should be able to change the baseband.
When I install a new Radio the bootloader shows that it is another Radio Number.
I am starting to think that it might be ROM related, since it is not possible to select the baseband when I go to *#*#4636#*#*
It only shows Automatic or USA Band.

No its hardware related, the M7_U (unlike the M7_UL) is not equipped with an LTE modem.

Windows 10. Despite it works perfectly smooth and updates all the drivers automaticaly and fast. It lags when connecting something on USB. (at least for my notebook)

My only doubt is why would they sell a phone saying it is 4G LTE when it isn´t.
Unfortunatly I did not get the chance to test it in USA with a SimCard from a carrier from there.

The M7_U never was announced as an LTE phone from HTC, Its a GSM/HSPA variant
The M7_UL is the GMS/HSPA/LTE variant.

Conclusion:
it won't be possible to switch it on/off in settings just like that. Enabling LTE on such units will be either not possible at all, or it will be possible by flashing M7_UL RUU to S-OFF device.

Flashing a M7_UL RUU will not enables LTE on M7_U, many of us already tried.

Then I think I bought by mistake, thinking it would be all the same!
Does the same happen to the M9?
I know the Iphone 6 works for all regions unlikly the iphone 5.
My mom bought on Iphone 6 in NY and brought it to Brazil and worked perfectly - 2G, 3G and 4G.

Your M7_U not working on LTE in your country isn't a region issue, If you had pick the M7_UL even if it was an European or US version it would have probably worked fine in your country as long as your carriers LTE bands are supported by the phone. M7_U simply doesn't have any LTE modem regardless of the carrier/region the phone will be used on.

I thought it would not work here.
The Iphone 5 bought in USA don´t work LTE here. And thoso bought here works normally.
I tought it would be the same for M7 and changing the Radio would make it work.
But now I understood that the M7_U is not LTE compatible regardless the region.
Hello all!
I've bought a Htc One M7 for Christmas... Chinese problems included. The phone is in pristine condition, but I believe it was completely botched on the sofware side > flashed to a M7_WLS instead of a M7_UL.
What I have :
- A phone with an European IMEI. I do believe the phone is genuinely a HTC M7_UL, since PID is PN07100 (which is european)
- A bootloader that identifies the phone as a M7_WLS (Sprint)
- Radio 1.00.31.0603 (that raised my suspicions)
- S-OFF, HBoot 1.57, SuperCID but locked bootloader (can be unlocked).
- A lousy gift for my mother...
CLOSED/SOLVED : The device was a "real" M7_WLS in a M7-UL body, complete with laser engravings....
- If your bootloader says M7_WLS, it's a sprint device and no amount of flashing can change that.
- Proceeded to restore to stock with S-Off, latest firmware and stock 6.23 rom.
Thanks to everybody who helped me "unlock" that mystery, my mom now has a Nexus 5 lol
What I intend to do:
- Flash a 5.1 firmware (Combo NoBoot No Recovery) for a M7_UL and pray (lol), with the goal of restoring the radio to its correct use
- Go to a RUU if needed
What I need help for :
- Getting either directions, or a sense of feasability, because....
- ...I've lost track of S-OFF, unlocked bootloader, firmware and such. My own M7 was S-off at one time (3 years ago), got back to S-ON with a new hboot trying to update radio... Been stuck since. I don't want to mess this, lock things up, and have to ship the phone back.... My HD2 times are SUCH a long time ago :highfive:
> Basically : updating the radio and the firmware somehow, so I can use LTE bands in Europe and update the phone to a GPE 5.1, and make my mom happy.
Thank you everyone !
Edit: OMG, that HD2 Encyclopedia.... I now understand why I didn't have friends in High School.

If the bootloader is saying M7_WLS then its probably a M7_WLS. You can't trust the PN0710000 MID, it can easliy be changed with S-OFF. Looks more like somebody tried to convert his M7_WLS into a M7_UL which is not possible. You should flash back a Sprint RUU. If you want to confirm what i'm saying dump the MFG partition (mmcblk0p6) and you'll find the original identity of the phone inside of it, most likely MID PN0720000 and CID SPCS_001

Thanks for this reply.
Unfortunately, I don't have enough knowledge to dump a partition - managed to input the command, but couldn't retrieve the data.
Where I'm at now (tryhard mode enabled):
- Changed MID
- Flashed GPE firmware 5.1 full combo
- Flashed GPE RUU 5.1, ended trying a 4.4, see why next
- Flashed recovery 2.8.7.0 > works, but cannot mount the cache and sdcard unless I fix permissions with SELinux mode
Everything (bootloader, recovery) kinda works, but the Rom won't boot.
Trying to know why : when I flash any RUU, I got two fails at signature checking
- sbl 1-1
- sbl 1-2
I got a white Google logo on black background with a little lock near the HTC logo on the front > I cannot find ANY clue on this one, anywhere on Google, XDA... Damn
- The bootloader also always shows a M7_WLS info, despite MID and CID and stuff being all M7_UL (after all thoses flashes, I get why) > Am I trying too much, not enough, or should it change somehow?
If anyone had a clue, I'd apreciate it.
- I can flash back and forth any firmware or Hboot (M7_UL based) The phone just takes it all, no questions asked ^^
PS : I can send it back, but i'd try at least to put it back in its original shape. Should I flash back a sprint firmware, sprint RUU and call it a day? Since I was previously told flashing a different RUU on a sprint phone would destroy my phone and it didnt....well
Thanks guys !
There is a very easy way to find out if your phone is WLS or WWE. Does it have a sim card slot? WLS is CDMA and doesn't have sim card, so that's a step closer to identifying your phone ?

You have a WLS and flashing UL RUU, this will obviously not work. Flash a sprint RUU with the sprint MID and CID (PN07200000 SPCS_001) If you need a custom recovery for whatever reason (like dumping your MFG) use a WLS custom recovery.

This is the GPE splash screen. That little lock tells you the bootloader status. Open lock = unlocked bootloader

Why? read what iv said in my previous post.... Because its a M7_WLS not a UL.

Thanks for all the info, I wish I would have replied earlier : I have a sim card slot. As stated before, can a Sprint CDMA device have one?
Since I don't think so, I now truly believe my phone is a really botched up M7_UL (don't believe it's a M7_U gsm only)
I'm gonna have to figure out why .exe RUU don't work, and why flashing zip decrypted ones don't work either.
Also, if someone has any clue about that M7_WLS showing up despite all the other clues pointing towards an original M7_UL... I've yet to found how this is possible.
Next operation is gonna be trying to install a real .exe GPE RUU, I believe all the flashing and stuff is getting me out of sync firmware numbers (hboot higher than the RUU requirements or so).
They are kinda hard to find (unless from HTC), and I find myself with gigs of Zips and RUU ^^
Will try the M7_U possibility also.
Will dump that partition just to be sure, but since the phone has been tinkered SO MUCH... I don't get it at this point why would someone do that !
> Countdown to christmas...
Thanks guys for your support, it's heartwarming these days

Like I said earlier, your clues are not telling anything. The phone is S-OFF which means both the MID and CID can be modified to anything easily. If the product name is M7_WLS then its a M7_WLS !!!!!

That will be a lot of wasted time. Write back the Sprint MID and CID and flash the Sprint RUU. Even better, dump the MFG partition first so you are 100% sure what that phone is.
I don't get it at this point why would someone do that !

The previous owner probably wanted to flash a M7_UL RUU on his M7_WLS phone without knowing it wasn't possible even after changing the MID and CID to M7_UL.
