I am still deciding whether I should buy ATT version or T-mobile version but I can not tell how these are different?
Can you guys enlighten me? Can I unlock T-mobile version and use it on ATT 4G as well as LTE? Flashing ROMs based on stocks from both carriers work ok on both of these phones? I have not had HTC since HD2. Thank in advance.

What carrier do you plan to use it on?
I have Tmobile right now but I am also considering moving to AT&T in the future.

Get the T-Mobile version.
It will support 1700mhz (for tmo) and att as well.
Thank you for your advice.

Hello community,
I couldn't find any info through the Search, so I was hoping someone could let me know if a rooted Nexus One for T-Mobile would work on AT&T. I have the unlocked bootloader, custom recovery image and ROM, the whole 9 yards, but what I don't have is the understanding about GSM networks and how the modifications I made to my phone affect the cross-network compatibility.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
The two models operate on different gsm bands. An unrooted t-mobile n1 will work on att, but only on edge..

They are ALL sold unlocked in the states.
True but there's 2 different unlocked versions and what the guy above you said is true.

Rooting should have no affect on it.
And if its the TMO version of the phone you will only have 2g (edge) on ATT. Seeing as both networks use different frequencies. And the cellular antenna will only be tuned to pick up 3g+ signals from TMOs frequencies.

I think..
But AT&T doesn't allow apps to be installed via apk files. So no 3rd party stuff.
If I'm correct.

You are so painfully incorrect. At&t has no presence on this phone. Get your facts right before you post here.
a T-Mobile Nexus One wont work on at&t's 3G network. Only on edge. Rooting has no effect.
Now close the thread.

Hi as i wait for my skyrocket to get fixed a friend loned me a nexus one with the s/n ending in 100 t-mobile in the us or videotron in canada my original network is rogers like att in the us.
My question is this if i flash a 110 version on this 100 version phone would it unlock the radio bands needed for 3g or is it really hardware specific?

Not being from the US or Canada I can't answer that directly. However something tells me that you can't/shouldn't do it.
Be very careful or you could end up bricking it. Perhaps you'd be better off using it "as is" until you get your own phone back.

Nexus One FAQ will answer you.
Does anyone know if I can use this phone in Europe? I have it SIMUnlocked. And I got it off contract. Just wondering if I can use it on a European providers network when I head there this summer.
Thanks!

Indeed it is sim unlocked (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277572) and I am planning on getting a sim there in Europe.
Thanks for the help.

Yes, works great here. Just make sure you put in the correct APN settings.
Using First in Italy without any trouble, 4g mode is available...
I use the HTC First in Germany with Vodafone and it works great. Also with 4G. Just check APN from your Provider and then lets go.
Have fun!

I was wondering this because I have somebody that wants to trade there ONE for my Nexus 4. Is there a way to make this the Google edition by flashing a rom? Also can't I just flash T-mobile radio's to get it to work on T-mobile if it doesn't?

There are plenty of threads that go into in depth discussion about this. Search for them. As of now, the answer seems to be no. You can get LTE and 3g but not HSPA+ I believe? I'm not sure of the details...

FML I finally find somebody willing to trade straight across and it's not worth it x.x
If it is worth your while to trade I would look into the possibility of flashing compatible radios, which in many cases is quite feasible. On another note the HTC One is an excellent device which only took minutes for me to transform into a Google Play Edition on not only an AT&T GSM variant, but a Sprint CDMA version as well. These ROMS even allow OTA updates, so as I said before if its worth your while there should be a solution. Please come to me with any issues or concerns you may have, I have been working with the HTC One for some time now and have become quite familiar with the device.

Hey guys,
Is it possible to flash a international firmware onto an AT&T phone? If so, what's the best firmware to use? The BTU one?

The bootloader hasn't been unlocked yet and there's no root...my guess...no...unless you want to brick it.
You can't flash anything until the bootloader is unlocked. If it even gets unlocked

Thanks! Just trying to understand how this all works. I was able to do that on my HTC M8 so I thought I'd be able to do it on the Galaxy S6 Edge as well.
Thanks again.

If you like custom ROM's I'd go back to M8 or get an M9 dev edition. Going off the past Galaxy models on AT&T you are likely to never get the bootloader unlocked. Unless Samsung does something similar to what HTC did but I doubt it.
I really liked the M8 but the camera was one of the worst cameras I've had on a phone. The camera on the S6 edge is awesome and I'm happy with the phone. I may end up returning the AT&T version and getting a T-mobile or international version instead.

A word of caution, the International versions won't support carrier aggregation or VoLTE or HD Voice...Unless you have a specific need for root, you can disable 98% of the AT&T bloat. I ended up returning my International model because of these reasons and due to the fact that the signal was noticeably worse with the international version.

Thanks for your input! I'm really not sure what to do. I love this phone and I want to keep it. I have disabled almost all the AT&T bloat now and it's working OK. There's some interesting stuff happening here at XDA and maybe we'll be able to unlock the bootloader on the AT&T devices like the Chinese version, so I'm at a dilemma right now. I have until May 12 to return my device so I will decide by then. Although, after what you said, I may not want to get an international version after all, especially if the signal is not as good as the AT&T version...
So...
Did you flash the international firmware to your AT&T edge? If so how'd it turn out? Do you miss those features mentioned?
Thanks in advance.
No. I don't believe it's possible to do so until the bootloader is unlocked. I'm still using the AT&T version and haven't decided to trade it for the international version yet.

I was about to purchase the International version but there are tons of posts
on not all of the ATT LTE bands being supported. The ATT version even has the
2 brand new bands that will be rolled out so add those 2 bands to the unsupported list.
98% of the bloat can be disabled and you will get the Voice over LTE. I cancelled my
International version and ordered the ATT version. I am not looking back.
Also if you paid full price for the the phone you will get unlock code after 60 days.
