Hopefully soon... I want this phone so badly! But I hate Sense and all the other preinstalled bloatware, so I will only buy it if there is a fully functional vanilla custom ROM.

How is HTC nowadays when it comes to unlocking the bootloader? I like the look of the One and its features, but coming from the GNex, rooting my phone is a must.

It's easy to unlock HTC Bootloader if it's supported in there bootloader tool, only around 5-10minutes. It's not fully s-off though like the HTC One X but its possible to flash kernels and roms.
OK thanks
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Don't be fooled by the htcdev site boot unlock. You still remain s-on, and the boot is still locked. Kernel needs to be flashed separately, cant flash radios... Worse, htc has avery poor track record in providing firmware source codes for its phone h/w components (twin 3D cam in evo3D, cam f/w for almost all phones, no third party support), ergo, no official cyanogen mod 10,11 or wany such official roms. What you get is some unofficial hack using ersatz codes by a dev experimenting...never stable....no hope outside stock rom....its time to abandon ship than stay on a burning platform (to quote steven Elop).
Sort of false. You can flash radios just can't downgrade it. Also when S-On you still can flash the kernel through fastboot or TWRP has a feature to let you flash the kernel.
With regards to S-Off I'm not sure but the S-Off method found on One X was just made days ago and I think HTC haven't patched it yet so assuming this is the case HTC One can be S-Off by using the same method.
I'm a fan of CM, but I'm buying this phone wholly expecting to be using nova launcher (or similar) over the top of sense. HTC kernels deviate a reasonable amount from AOSP and as stated things like cameras are just released as packed drivers, so it's very hard to manipulate for AOSP roms.
M.
Well.. i don't think a single person even have the phone.. besides HTC owners and workers.
if CM supported the One X.. then i don't see why the One won't get support..

How do you flash radios if htcdev unlocked.? Other than running a RUU? HTC Evo LTE got s-off quite a while back, but also, the first hboot it shipped with actually allowed radio and kernel flash. But they patched that quickly. I never update an hboot though. Lazy panda got S-off for Evo lte just a couple months after release, if even that long. And for all the fools who updated hboot before S-off, team unlimited has been able to get s-off for every hboot since.
From my Evo LTE, yup.

How did you even get that? It does look like the prototype device shown here:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/01/20/exclusive-this-may-actually-be-the-htc-m7-with-sense-5-0/
Do you know what the original CID and MID are? At some point that software may have been updated to be inline with the rest of the HTC One's with 2 buttons, so you'd only need to match whatever the update would be if you're trying to get back to stock.
A prototype device was on eBay 2-3 weeks back I think. So there's a few in the wild.
As far as finding an RUU, good luck. Maybe if you call HTC and explain your situation maybe they can help you out

Hello everyone,
Ok I just got the Sprint HTC One.I've done S-OFF, Super-CID, Unlock.
My Questions are:
1) Is there a way to use ROM from HTC One(not Sprint HTC One)
example any of theese: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2115#romList
2) And is it only me but if I do "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" with Non Sprint TWRP , the recovery doesn't load.
any links with nice, stable, battery friendly ROMs will work for me.
Thank you.

If you want a non functioning HTC One flash any of the rom's in the non sprint dev section.
Ok, So with Super CID I should be able to run any RUU? Is this correct
For example I want to use some European non Sprint. Is this going to work

Alright, you can just answer and explain what actually I can do with SuperCID.
Not to make yourself the smart person here.
Ok, you are right, I will stuck somewhere but that's how we learn...when no one anwers us with real "answer".
dont think super cid is really very useful on cdma phones...
I'm not trying to be the smart person here, I am trying to help you. With super CID you can flash any carriers Rom or RUU, however with Sprint being a coma phone we are very limited so as far as I know having super cid is kind of pointless. Unless someone else knows better.

This is correct. If you read the info in the CID unlock thread it explains everything.
Super CID does allow you to use any RUU, but that doesn't help us as much because Sprint is CDMA, the rest of the varients are currently GSM. However, when the phone becomes available on other CDMA carriers like Boost or Verizon it will be more useful because those will work since they are CDMA as well.

To answer the original questions...
1. Not directly, you'd have to Port them.
2. You need to flash the Sprint TWRP, use either 2.5.0 or 2.6.1. The 2.6.0 version that is floating around is broken.
As far as good tons, I personally havent flashed any because stock, with a different launcher, has worked so well. I read through a lot of the AOSP based Rom threads and there seem to be some issues that need to get worked out before I would consider them strong contenders to the stock stability and features. However any stock roms should give good results, is recommend Viper Rom.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
Give the guy a break; the Super CID is confusing to us Sprint users. Even the guy who posted the Super CID didnt realize till later that it wouldnt do us much good. If it isn't clear to you already, DONT FLASH ANY ROM THAT ISNT SPECIFICALLY BUILT FOR THE SPRINT VARIANT. And dont bother with super CID, even if/when boost and other prepaid options become available, I will have a hard time believing that development will skyrocket because of it. I have been working on three different roms for our beloved sprint variant and have dismal failures for going on three weeks. Couldnt figure out why everybody loved stock so much here, but I think I know now.
Thank you guys, now everything is clear for me :silly:
I am going to use my phone in Europe and in my country we use only GSM, we don't use CDMA at all.
Now I am using this rom: 42ONE - The Aftermath
Really Like it and recomend it.
i've tried with viper but more like this one.
Ok guys, first of all let me say that I've searched a lot, read many information, and now I'm confused regarding some subjects. I came from a Galaxy Nexus, and this is ALL new and a little bit confusing... And before I do something wrong let me ask!
To clarify, can someone answer this questions as simple as possible? Thanks!
1. What's hboot?
2. To update to a new one will I need to have a matching Cid / be s-off?
3. What's the difference between hboot and boot?
3.1. If I flash hboot to boot by mistake, is it possible to recover it?
4. What's a RUU?
5. What are RU's? (maybe testers? What does the RU stand for?)
6. How can I know if some radio is compatible with my country's? I live in Portugal.
7. What's HTC dumlock?
I think for now it's everything

2. Nope, they update automatically via ota updates
3. Boot is the os partition to boot up android, hboot is like the bios of a pc

4. Official software by htc to restore the phone to stock firmware/update to new firmware

5. RU's are Recognized Users and get the new ARHD releases before they are released to the rest of us so they can be tested. They will generally have a banner in their signature that identifies them as an RU.

GPE version phone, if i was you, sell your working variant GPE on Gumtree, Ebay and go from there ! Good luck
Come on folks. Do your research.
A GPE One's hardware is identical to the AT&T carrier-locked/branded or Developer Edition or "International" (WWE) unlocked/unbranded phones.
Any of them can be turned into any of the others by (carefully) writing to the necessary partitions.
Once any of these phones is S-OFF you can easily run any of the ROMs intended for any of the others.
In fact, you can use "firmware" intended for one while running another, although I would advise you understand what "flashing firmware" really means before making any firm conclusions there.
Anyway, short answer to the OP, yes if you're S-OFF and do a little reading, you can flash a variety of Sense ROMs.

Unlock is not the same as S-OFF.
You can do a lot with just being unlocked, but at some point you probably want S-OFF.
I didn't buy my phone from Google, so I don't know if unlocking is as simple as using a fastboot command like on a Nexus.
If not, you will have to unlock like everyone else. You can go to htcdev.com and/or do it as part of the S-OFF process.
Just to review the obvious, unlocking your phone in this way will erase everything personal on it including your pictures, your music, everything.
Backup your stuff.
To go all the way S-OFF, you first need to find out your HBOOT version. Most GPE phones have 1.54 right now.
Then decide which S-OFF exploit might work for you.
Read the rumrunner and firewater threads very carefully before doing anything. Always read the OP several times and then peruse the last two or pages of activity in any thread before making any conclusions.
Good luck.

GPE Hboot unlocks just like a nexus with Fastboot OEM Unlock. A token from htc dev is not required.
Still going to need to use an exploit to gain S-OFF
