Has anybody figured out a way to transfer files via BlueTooth from our phones to the Gear? Right now, I can push/install from my PC/Mac just fine, but I'd hate having to carry around the cradle all the time for my customization needs.
You can do it by installing bluetooth file transfer. You'll have to install this app on your phone and gear. Open it connect it and transfer away...

My point exactly, theres currently no way to transfer files without using a third party application.
Which would mean you would have to use the cradle.

I think the point of the bluetooth file transfer suggestion is that you only have to do it once (i.e., to get the bluetooth file transfer software on the watch) and then you can continue to transfer files without touching the cradle. If the question is how to transfer files without even a single use of the cradle, I think the answer is clearly no with the current set of apps available.
Did anyone succeed with any bluetooth file transfert apk ?

One way only?
I followed the instructions and was able to browse my phone's files on the gear and transfer them to the gear, but it doesn't seem possible to browse the gear's files on the phone and pull them onto the phone. Am I doing something wrong?
When trying to connect on my phone, I get the message "Service not found. You cannot connect with target device because it lacks of the 'File Transfer Profile' (OBEX FTP) and/or the 'Object Push Profile' (OBEX OPP) Bluetooth services. Make sure that the target device is in DISCOVERABLE mode and enabled to receive files!"

this method is painfully slow though, after u install that app on BOTH, u still have to enable it on BOTH, then pair it, so many steips
i wished that apk filepush works but sadly it doesn't work via BT spoofing
with filepush on my other android devices, i just have to right click the file on my windows 8 computer and send it via filepush!
I use root explorer to send files from my phone to my gear frequently. It can be VERY SLOW to do so though.
By the way I have the gear rooted, ROM is null_23, and have root explorer on the gear. I have sent as big of files as the null Roms and VR themes as well. Also I have used root explorer to send screenshots from my gear with root explorer to my phone, those are normally watchfaces for Watchstyler.

I have an app on my phone, but it is no longer available on the Google Play Store. Is there anyway I can get this out of the Vivid so I can move it to a different phone (Samsung Galaxy Note)? I want the app, but I can't really find anywhere to download it.

If your rooted yo can get a root explorer and navigate to /data/app and copy the app to your SD card
From there put it on your computer then on your other phone...or Bluetooth it over

Download Bluetooth file transfer by medieval software from play store. In that application, you will find an option like send app. Basically, this software converts the app installed in your phone to .apk file and sends it to the other phone you want. This will help.

Yeah, id like to try the blue tooth thing, does it need both phones to be rooted?
NO Root required. Just install the app and shoot..works well on Stock ICS, CM 9.1.0 stable, CM 10 Experimental, Thunderbolt, Slim ICS, Chemeleon 1.1 (tried and tested by me).. no bugs known..
You can use root explorer or try apk extractor both work very well.

I dont have a gear,
but with autoremote you can send a message command to phone with bluetooth and phone can run a task.
For me this a possible mode For my home automation.
If work its possible create shortcut to novalauncher(gear) example:light on kitchen and phone excute command.
Now i use this metode with phone To tablet,
I think this is the only solution for sync gear with phone.
Sorry for my english, i hope you understand me.

I am running null 13 with full gapps etc.
Can send messages when internet is tethered but not offline.
I have held down device and registered bluetooth id on both phone and gear as well.
It never worked for me by specifying the ID of the Gear. I had to set it to any bluetooth device.

Is this set in auto remote or the tasker task?

I have both tasker and Autoremote installed on the gear, but I can't figure out how to initially add a device to autoremote via bluetooth alone.

I think I figured this one out. What I did was:
Install Gapps (sent the zip over thru ADB and then flashed it)
Install Tasker and Autoremote thru the appstore
Installed Barcode scanner (optional)
Spoofed WiFI
Scanned my phone's AutoRemote QR Code (optional)
That's it! You need to be tethered thru bluetooth, obviously.
Hello friends.
I've a Galaxy Gear with no root.
I've installed browser, but it's impossible to go on internet.
It's possible to enable bluetooth tethering on my last stock firmware?
Thanks in advance at all.

Depends. You can use PDA net and brows the web, but if you are on a US/Canadian carrier other than Verizon, the native tethering is not an option, so you are extremely limited. If on T-Mobile, you can flash on of the international roms on your phone. Staying stock will not get you all the things that are possible using a custom rom like _null for your gear.

I had the same issue , I downloaded Easy tether pro on my phone "No root needed". I then enabled MTP on my Galaxy Gear and transferred the APK for Easy tether for tablet on my gear . The 2 apps connect phone to Gear , Viola internet on your Galaxy Gear . Almost forgot . You'll need ES file explorer to look up the app and install on you GEAR .
I have attached images of my progress

This is something that I ran across while reading sometime ago, so I take no credit for it, I just thought I'd pass it along to help others. Basically all you need to do is use a file manager/explorer on your Note 3 (I use "My Files" most of the time) and long press on the file/app that you want to send to your Galaxy Gear and then hit the "share" button at the top of your screen. Then select "Bluetooth", and then choose the Galaxy Gear. After that, just hit "accept" on the Gear and that's it...nothing else is needed. It may take a few minutes just because bluetooth file transferring isn't extremely fast, but it works, and without having to enter commands in terminal/ADB, without any cables, without MobileGo which is a trial version (or cost $40), and you don't even need the Galaxy Gear's cradle (that you probably left at home like I did).
Once the file/app has transferred over, just use a file manager on your gear to maneuver to the "SDcard/Bluetooth" directory where your files will be waiting on the Gear. Then you can simply double click to install them or just move them where ever you want. My Gear already had a file manager on it after I installed the custom rom Null 18. Otherwise, getting that file manager app onto the Gear may be your biggest (also last) challenge as far as sideloading apps goes. I rooted, and then flashed the Null 18 rom first to save time, but now sideloading is a piece of cake.
I also took this method to the next level since I am also rooted as I mentioned. What I mean by that, is with Root Explorer you can navigate to the System/apps directory (which is normally hidden if not rooted and using something like RE to access it). Once there, you'll find that this is the directory where your installed apps are stored. Now you can use the same method mentioned above to pull apps that you may not have had the .apk files for. So in essence you are "ripping" the apps right from your Note 3 straight to your Gear! This gives you the ability to try and install/run ANY Android app (even those that are said NOT to be compatible with the Gear) because a lot of them will still run. Google Search/Google Now/Voice Search is GREAT on the Gear, and so are many others. NOW this device is really kickin! Enjoy.
Sweet...many thanks ..

Very cool, thanks. Simple and effective. I like the part about testing Android apps from your phone / tablet to see how they work on the Gear.
Hmm weird. ..I tried this with two different file mangers and when I scan for nearby devices to share with nothing comes up. Neither my note or gear are rooted so maybe this only works with null?

I'm pretty sure you have to be rooted on the Gear for this. I tried to do that when I went back to stock and was pretty mad that it wouldn't work. One more reason I was Null back.
But my Not3 is not rooted and na3 and na6 will not let me keep any sideloaded apps. So I am not going to get null back until this is fixed. I even went down to the first gear manager and it still doesn't work. Only mk7 with any gear manager allows me to keep my apps/put them on my home screen.
Works for me on a stock Note II!
How could I bluetooth download PdaNet Tablet to the Gear?
I need to get the files for PdaNet Tablet so I can get the BT PAN internet tethering going...
I can confirm that this works on my rooted Note II running stock 4.3

No need for root. Just use My Backup app on your phone. Saved apk is usually in sdcard/rerware
And this won't work for stock gear. But work on null rom. Been doing this for quite a while now.

Hello,
I'm a newbie on this forum. I recently bought a GG 1 and I've installed several APKs on it.
I'm reffering to Whatsapp and Adobe PDF Reader.
When I try to run Whatsapp, it says: You need network connection. My Note 3 is connected to WI-FI and to the GG.
Secondly, I can't view any PDFs on the GG. I have some PDFs on my phone. How can I sync them?
Please help.:good:

Haven't used whatsapp on the gear but you typically would need to tether the gear to the phone. Not talking about being connected via BT but being tethered so it can access the net.
Not sure on PDF reader but if you have the pdf reader app installed on the gear and have PDF files in there as well, you can just open the app and navigate to the file. If the PDF file is on the phone, you cannot open it from the gear at this point

You can also push files to gear via adb.
Code:
