Hello,
I'm a newbie on this forum. I recently bought a GG 1 and I've installed several APKs on it.
I'm reffering to Whatsapp and Adobe PDF Reader.
When I try to run Whatsapp, it says: You need network connection. My Note 3 is connected to WI-FI and to the GG.
Secondly, I can't view any PDFs on the GG. I have some PDFs on my phone. How can I sync them?
Please help.:good:
Thanks!!

Haven't used whatsapp on the gear but you typically would need to tether the gear to the phone. Not talking about being connected via BT but being tethered so it can access the net.
Not sure on PDF reader but if you have the pdf reader app installed on the gear and have PDF files in there as well, you can just open the app and navigate to the file. If the PDF file is on the phone, you cannot open it from the gear at this point

How do I copy the pdfs to GG? It's not like a USB.

Use a file explorer ( I use ES File Explorer) to locate the file on the phone then long press it, share, select Bluetooth. The gear should prompt you to accept the file, accept it. Then use root browser on the gear to locate the file

It does not prompt me to accept the file. What should I do?
You can also push files to gear via adb.
Code:
adb push <local_file_path> <remote_path>

Hi, just wondering if anyone can recommend a good app for sharing files (apks, pics, videos etc) between android devices? Cheers.

I'm curious about this one too. I have been using Hoccer, but it is soooo slow. It takes like 2 minutes to transfer a 12MB file. The only other one that I know of is Bluetooth file transfer, not sure how fast it is though. I would assume it's faster than Hoccer.
Bump in market, hint: you dont really have to "bump," just shake ur phone

Tried that but it isn't great for apps that you want to share that aren't on the market where I just want to send my friend or mrs an apk.
Astro file manager with the Bluetooth module is pretty handy for sending pretty anything

root explorer and EStrong File manager "Send" via Bluetooth also works great
+1 Estrongs File Explorer

You can send non-market apk's. It just has to be installed on your phone first, it picks from the list of installed apps on your phone
If you're both on wifi you could try ftp. One of you starts a ftp server and the other connects.
That will be a lot faster than bluetooth.
Sugarsync or Dropbox. Same acct. SS allows you to sync folders on your sd card.

That's what I do, I can also share with non-Android devices this way (and computers). I have SwiFTP on my Nexus as a server, and use AndFTP as a client (or even the browser).
I have an app on my phone, but it is no longer available on the Google Play Store. Is there anyway I can get this out of the Vivid so I can move it to a different phone (Samsung Galaxy Note)? I want the app, but I can't really find anywhere to download it.

If your rooted yo can get a root explorer and navigate to /data/app and copy the app to your SD card
From there put it on your computer then on your other phone...or Bluetooth it over

Download Bluetooth file transfer by medieval software from play store. In that application, you will find an option like send app. Basically, this software converts the app installed in your phone to .apk file and sends it to the other phone you want. This will help.

Lol it doesn't convert it apps stay as .apks on phones, so it just grabs the app and sends it
Good suggestion though, does the app require root?

Yeah, id like to try the blue tooth thing, does it need both phones to be rooted?
NO Root required. Just install the app and shoot..works well on Stock ICS, CM 9.1.0 stable, CM 10 Experimental, Thunderbolt, Slim ICS, Chemeleon 1.1 (tried and tested by me).. no bugs known..
You can use root explorer or try apk extractor both work very well.
Has anybody figured out a way to transfer files via BlueTooth from our phones to the Gear? Right now, I can push/install from my PC/Mac just fine, but I'd hate having to carry around the cradle all the time for my customization needs.
You can do it by installing bluetooth file transfer. You'll have to install this app on your phone and gear. Open it connect it and transfer away...

My point exactly, theres currently no way to transfer files without using a third party application.
Which would mean you would have to use the cradle.

I think the point of the bluetooth file transfer suggestion is that you only have to do it once (i.e., to get the bluetooth file transfer software on the watch) and then you can continue to transfer files without touching the cradle. If the question is how to transfer files without even a single use of the cradle, I think the answer is clearly no with the current set of apps available.
Did anyone succeed with any bluetooth file transfert apk ?

One way only?
I followed the instructions and was able to browse my phone's files on the gear and transfer them to the gear, but it doesn't seem possible to browse the gear's files on the phone and pull them onto the phone. Am I doing something wrong?
When trying to connect on my phone, I get the message "Service not found. You cannot connect with target device because it lacks of the 'File Transfer Profile' (OBEX FTP) and/or the 'Object Push Profile' (OBEX OPP) Bluetooth services. Make sure that the target device is in DISCOVERABLE mode and enabled to receive files!"

this method is painfully slow though, after u install that app on BOTH, u still have to enable it on BOTH, then pair it, so many steips
i wished that apk filepush works but sadly it doesn't work via BT spoofing
with filepush on my other android devices, i just have to right click the file on my windows 8 computer and send it via filepush!
I use root explorer to send files from my phone to my gear frequently. It can be VERY SLOW to do so though.
By the way I have the gear rooted, ROM is null_23, and have root explorer on the gear. I have sent as big of files as the null Roms and VR themes as well. Also I have used root explorer to send screenshots from my gear with root explorer to my phone, those are normally watchfaces for Watchstyler.

For the past year or so I've been using my gmail app on my phone to receive and edit .xsls files for work. All of the sudden I can no longer open them. When I select the attachted file it prompts me to chose from a selection of irrelevant apps to open the file. I've even downloaded specific apps; in addition to Polaris Office 5 which is what the Note 3 comes with and what, up until now, has been used to open these files with, and none of them will show up in the selection of apps to open the file with. Also, when trying to manually browse the file into the specific application it is now found among my downloaded apps. I'm not sure this is relevant, but its worth noting that I can no longer open these file types from the gmail webpage on my computer either. So I'm not exactly sure where the problem lies, I'm just hoping for some insight, if any would be willing to offer it.
Thanks in advance.

And just in case you guys couldn't figure it out, I meant .xlsx format, not .xsls.

GMail cannot open .xlsx, and I don't think it's ever been able to.
However, on a stock Note 3, you can open .xlsx from within gmail and via other methods - using Polaris Office. By default, gmail will use that to open .xlsx files on the Note 3. Note that when you open from gmail, and then hold home to get the task manager, it shows that window as being gmail, not polaris.
My guess is that you removed or froze Polaris Office. Put it back or defrost it, and see if it works.

I've been opening them via Polaris office for some time now and all the sudden it won't any more. I have the Polaris app running and everything. When I click on the attached file it gives me the option to open it using S Note, Nova Launcher and a couple other apps that can't read files. I don't get what the issue is. I have a few apps downloaded that are supposed to be able to read .xlsx files but it never gives me the option to open the file with those apps.

I downloaded the file from the website version of gmail and I think the problem is that the files are downloading as .bin files and not as what they are being sent to me as. Any ideas as to why that would happen?

Hi. When downloading a PDF file (for instance from Facebook) I get a message saying something like "No application available to open file."
If I'm opening a PDF sent to me as an attachment in Gmail it opens just fine. I have Google pdf reader, Acrobat reader and a couple other pdf readers installed just to try if they work. They don't make any difference.
Is it a software problem? System? Launcher?
Running everything stock with ColorOs and stock launcher.
Thanks!
I don't use the Facebook app but it's strange issue as mine open using Gmail, drive, chrome and root explorer... I haven't even download a dedicated pdf reader. If you goto the app management then click default apps section does it let you select your pdf app as the default viewer for text file?

Good afternoon friends. Please tell us how to compress PDF files if you know how to do it. I just don't understand anything at all, I bought a computer recently. Help me with your advice, friends.
