Hello to everyone,
I have that common problem that everyone have. My HTC One suddenly turned off and wont turn on.
1. I didn't mess anything around software and/or firmware I used it as is.
2. I tried every combination and permutation that I read on this great forum. (power+volume buttons combination, while charging, without charging, with bright light, without bright light, connecting to PC and using ADB tool with fastboot reboot and recovery commands, left it on charger for day and a half and so on...)
3. My LED indicator is just flashing while charging and I can't get a solid LED indicator.
4. I don't have warranty and it was bought in France on some stupid carrier.
How to fix this?
I would be very thankful to that person that gives me a solution to this problem. I am frustrated and after all possibilities explored pretty much depressed.

My one wont charge or boot. I had it in a pocket in my uniform all day. I only noticed it stop working when I was leaving at the end of the day. I have a black screen and no amount of holding down power or volume keys will do anything. It wont hard reset and I cannot get to the bootloader. I dont get the charging light when I plug it into the computer or charger, however it does get pretty hot as if it is charging. I didnt do any serious software modding to it as I only unlocked the bootloader, installed twrp, and installed ARHD 9.4. Not sure what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the device is "on" but it's locked up with the screen off. When you're holding down the PWR + VOL DOWN button(for at least ~10-15seconds), are you in a brightly lit room or can you shine at light at the sensor? I know it sounds nuts, but there seems to be some safeguard on HTC's part that it will check the light sensor before rebooting in case the buttons get pushed in your pockets.
Alternatively, plug it into your computer and use ADB(or the All in One Toolkit) to issue the "adb reboot recovery" command.

So i tried it in a very lit room but still nothing. I tried adb before but my computer is not even seeing the device. "adb devices" shows nothing and its not a driver issue because I am running linux and I was able to fastboot and adb this device before.
I was thinking the same thing that its kinda frozen. I never thought that not being able to access the battery would be an issue but in this situation it would be extremly helpfull. Maybe all I can do is wait until I am sure the battery is dead and try and charge it and see if the charging light comes on. This really sucks...

I just had this happen to me and I followed these instructions and held it closer to the light and it came back on.
Hi Everyone,
I haven't been on here for a while. I have a HTC one that has stopped working. It is flashing the home and back buttons when I try to power it up and the LED light isn't working when I plug it in.
I Have managed to mess around enough with it trying the bright light trick and all combinations of power + volume down/up buttons to try and get it to spring into life. Iv e tried these connected to a charger and connected to the laptop as well.
When I press the volume down button and hold it the LED came on and started to flash, then it became constant red. I've left it charging overnight and its now a constant green so fully charged or so it thinks. Ive since tried the combination of buttons again but when I do the led goes off.
Ive scoured the internet last night for anyone with my similar situation and found a lot of posts but none that match my situation exactly.
When I turn it on normally nothing happens apart from the on sound and the under device manager it says "HTC MTP Device".
I m going to make a quick vid and put it on youtube and add the link in here just in case anyone has been in this situation before and found a remedy.
Before anyone asks I don't know what rom was on it, or if it was unlocked bootloader. I bought it second hand and just started using it. It went off mid day with plenty of battery and it wasn't hot.
Any help would be most appreciated as im running out of ideas fast!. plus my fingers are sore...lol.
Thanks for reading
Steve
I don't know what to do now, I'm feeling depressed just by thinking about my problem. Okay, so just to give ya the backstory (nothing big), my phone's battery died when going home to the gym (automatically shut down), didn't think much about it. I got home, after awhile, I plugged in my HTC One into the charger and it wouldn't charge at all!!! :crying: Never happened to me before, I'm running on the latest TWRP, and on the Google Edition rom. Now on to what I did next.
I tried just leaving it on there for a few hours, NOT A PEEP, no LED light, nada just completely dead. Then I plugged it into the laptop USB port, it doesn't recognizes the device but it did install a driver too (forgot what it was called though). And the computer does indeed recognizes the device's existence cuz I hear the computer make that sound when you hook it up to the computer. Also in the the Devices and Printers on Windows 7, it either says Unknown Device or USB Input Device depending on what USB port I hook it up to. And after a few hours charging from the PC, the LED light did come back but only the low battery is dead pulsing (dunno what else to call it lol, its not the solid LED light). And it only does it for a few minutes, goes away then repeats. So does that mean there is some glimmer of hope? I've tried holding the Power button for a minute or 2, nothing. Power button + Vol Up? Nope. Power button + Vol Down? Nope. Do all of those while the LED light is pulsing? Nope. When its completely black? Nope.
So what can I do?! I can't claim warranty because I bought this off Craigslist (plus I'm rooted, so that would be moot anyways), can someone help this depressed as heck man? Its like I'm watching my best friend die slowly. :crying: lol. Sorry if it was a long read, just wanted to put everything in OP, would appreciate the help!

Thank you for responding. Yeah, I tried those 2 steps, so far no good. I'm just very confused because when I charge the One by my PC, the LED orange light just blinks for awhile then goes away, then the cycle continues, does that mean the battery isn't 100% completely dead? god I'm so confused and sad at the same time lol.
This seems to be happening with TWRP 2.7.x. If you can possibly flash a different recovery you may resurrect your phone...

How can I flash anything when the phone wont wake up? ugh, the only hope I'm getting is that the LED is blinking from time to time, meaning there's at least something going on.
Anyone else?
Anyone? I guess theres nothing else to do huh?
*If* twrp 2.7.0.0 caused your issue (which is hard to say since we don't know which recovery you are using) then somehow you have to overwrite the recovery in fastboot.
The phone needs to be able to boot into HBOOT and then go into fastboot. the battery will have to have enough charge for the recovery flash to succeed.
i honestly don't know the next step for your case, maybe someone else can help.

I'll started off by saying that my bootloader is unlocked and I have flashed the Android 5.0 ROM (503b) from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/orig-development/exp-lollipop-xperia-z-t2929369
Sorry if this is a bit long but I thought it'd be best to tell you the steps leading up to the potential death of the phone.
As far as I can tell the issue doesn't stem from a software fault as I've been running the ROM solidly for 2 weeks now with no issues apart from not being able to hear a call when I accept with something plugged in the headphone jack.
I wake the phone and go to unlock it and the touchscreen is unresponsive. I have known it to take a second or two to wake up so I gave it a minute then tried again.
No response. Screen hadn't dimmed either so I suspected it had crashed.
Held the power button and the power off prompt appears along with all my previous actions unfolding beneath it. Just for good measure I decide I'll reboot the phone as I sometimes do when it starts to lag.
Powered off fine. Go to turn it on and nothing happens.
Battery was on about 20% when I turned it off so I plugged it in and tried again.
No LED light when I plug it in, still no response to any button combination. No recognition over USB either.
So I'm going to leave it plugged in overnight as I've seen it recommended by a couple of people before. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if you managed to recover the phone?

Unfortunately no. The phone is doing absolutely nothing when any key combination is pressed and i've tried plugging it in via USB and doing these in case the LED light had developed a fault. Still nothing.
Hi all,
A while back now I was trying to flash my Xperia Z1 back to stock and stuffed up somehow. I have been trawling through everything I can find online for fixing a bricked xperia for weeks now. I think there is some issue with the kernel, causing it to restart very early in the boot. So...
- Red Led flashes when on charger or connected to pc via usb
- Cannot get fastboot of flashmode to work
- USB device detected briefly but disconnects (In time with the flashing Led)
- When connected to pc, holding power and Vol+ causes 3 vibrations (same for little red button near sim tray), but it goes straight back to flashing led.
I have tried a lot of the common fixes that have helped a lot of people, charging the phone for extended periods, the elastic band trick etc. I have come across a few people with a few the same issue but either the thread stops with no real answer or they sent it for repair (back when they were in warranty sorts of situations).
Has anyone else experienced this? Or can point me in some direction to search for more answers? Should I give up on this?
I thought It would be worth asking before looking towards more evasive solutions involving dismantling the phone (have no experience with this). Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Do forced reset (that three vibrate thing)
Connect to charger and forget phone for 1-1.5 hours
Then try flashing stock ftf via flash tool with working usb cable and also do check the drivers window 8+ requires some additional steps...
Also it is advisable to drain all the juice from the battery before charging it again
I have been in same situation twice, device acts as if its hardbricked no vibrations lights nothing.
I keep phone a side for good 24 hours then try connecting to charger, red light should come on, leave it for a hour or so then try flashing..
Thanks heaps guys! Was close to giving up but I'll keep at it, very much appreciated.
An update for anyone that stumbles upon this with similar issues. I finally managed to get it working again,
After trying everything I could find (It seemed impossible to get it to stop connecting/disconnecting or turn off to charge), I opened the back up and tried to test point method set out here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646405
Big thanks to the guys that put that together, and again to those that responded here. Wasn't as hard as I thought It may be.
Side note: I still have the strange graphical issue that I have posted about elsewhere which led me into my trouble.
