Hi guys, I have sent my phone off for repair to HTC as i have had WI-FI issues basically since I bought the phone last year, the wi-fi disconnects at weaker areas, whereas the other phones i have tested work fine..I have only recently realised that thi was a manufacturing issue after reading reviews online. So I have decided to send the phone off for repair, a week later (today) I get a quotation from HTC of £187! Bear in mind I still have warranty on my phone..HTC initially did not state the reason why I have received the charge, they just claimed that the work required was caused by the damage that isn't covered by warranty. So i went onto HTC chat and spoke to someone called Wioleta, she eventually told me that I have installed "unauthorized software" on my phone. Now I PROMISE YOU guys, i have not done any tweaking on my phone for a long long time...before I did install a ROM rooted my phone etc, but i had to set everything to default settings as i have sent the phone off before because of a different issue ( coloured lines on my phone - if you guys remember), I have done the procedure correctly and HAVE NOT been charged by HTC for the repair,so it was done free...ever since the repair I have not done any modifications to my phone or downloaded any illegal software...So I would like to know why they said i have done this and is it possible that they could have done this?? I have attached a picture of what Wioleta has sent me on chat...I think there is a mistake somewhere because i am innocent...and I have already sent them a complaint about it, but I really need my phone back... please can somebody give me some advice on how to tackle these twats! Thanks for reading.

I think you are in the wrong forum, this is for HTC One not for One X.

Hey all,
I'm a long time reader, first time poster on xda-developers and have had numerous HTC phones in the past but this Touch Diamond is really getting to me! I can almost cope with its sluggish performance by flashing it to these fantastic roms on the website but now I'm getting what I assume is a hardware problem...
More and more often I'm having this problem where I press a button on the right hand side of the screen and the phone thinks I have pressed a button a 2cms to the left! I've tried to take a picture of this on my webcam (excuse the quality) where I am trying to press the backspace button but the phone thinks I have pressed the '8' key:

I have tried soft and hard reset. I've tried going back to the original rom and changing to another cooked rom!
Any ideas anyone? Would be much appreciated as I can hardly use the phone in its current state!
Thanks!
James
dude you realy messed up your phone,
sorry i aint got a solution for this?
lol tell me about it! can't think its anything i've done though.
shall i just send it back to HTC and let them sort it out?
hi james,
maybe its a dumb question, but did you tried to calibrate the touch-screen?
if yes, then i think this is a hardware issue caused by the digitizer...
in this case better send it back to htc but dont forget to flash the factory rom on it before sending in!
good luck mate
hey,
yeh i've done the calibration loads of times which normally fixes it for a bit but it always goes back to being out of alignment. i've downgraded the SPL and reflashed.
do you reckon that'll be ok?
thanks!
james
ive got the same problem anyone got a idea of why it happens? thinking of sending it to HTC for repairs, does the diamond have 2 year warrenty or 1?
ps ive got the orange branded HTC touch diamond uk version
hey,
had the same issue for about a month.
wen't to the store i got it from, and after more than a month without a device they replaced it for me.
it wasn't easy, but they just couldn't solve the problem!
while my phone was at the lab, I sent HTC a message and they answered that it is a known hardware issue and that I should get it replaced.
don't wait, go to your supplier!
you will find some threads here regarding this problem- all unsolved...
I hope that ur device will be replaced!
GOOD LUCK!

I had the same issue and got it replaced. Since HTC stated is a known issue, will the problem come back after some use? If that the case, seem i better sell it off rather wait till the problem came back after warranty expired!
They shouldnt named it Diamond. Diamond meant to be last forever and this "Touch Diamond" just too problematic.
i have the same problem, i will take it to htc for replacement, can someone help me to find the original SPL?
original SPL 1.93 and instructions attached
thanks, but does it matter if my original spl was a different version like 1.35 or 1.37 etc?

So I decided to try and contact LG to find out if we are going to get a GC fix and he told me they don't make the rom's that they just make the hardware its unbelievable that they do this to their customers, Never again will I buy a LG product... Seems like our devs are doing more trying to fix this problem for us then the company that we got our phones from.

They will never fix the GC issue. Just like the Thrill won't be getting Ice Cream Sandwich.
Why? Who knows. The P920, same phone, etc. is getting ICS. The thrill, nope. Unless a dev ports it from the O3D to the Thrill.
But where does that leave us who have the phone for 2 years "contract" I own a business and I can't keep having calls not come to my phone its making me lose business and its unbelievable that LG does not take that into consideration.
Leaves us "S.O.L.". Nothing we can do except wait for dev's here to do something.
As for LG not doing anything. That's horse dookies. Their bloatware has nothing to do with a carrier.
It goes Google -> Phone Manufacturer, in this case LG -> Carrier.
"Ginno" was probably an entry-level tech. Which anyone whom knows how to touch a keyboard or a phone screen can do.
I know it sucks, but your just going to have to get a different phone. Like many people, I run a business and I estimate, that just from the calls that I later found out I missed, it has at least cost me a few thousand. And who knows how many I missed and never found out about, because alot of people don't leave voice mails, they just call the next guy. I bit the bullet and got something else, and swore off LG for the rest of my days. I will never ever look at another LG phone, with there piss poor update schedule, and screwing mine up. Im stuck in another two year contact because of what they did to my phone. And something else that angered me, why are alot of the good apps not supported on the thrill. Gta3, and hulu plus for example? good luck in whatever you chose to do. LG don't care, they got your money.

I had the same issue, i couldn't afford to miss calls, and i was calling ATT for more then a month. They tried everything: changed some settings, changed sim card, and even changed the phone....so anyway after so many changes i've managed to get a deal "Samsung Galaxsy S2, no phone fee, no early upgrade fee and no 2 day delivery fee. So the only thing that was bad is a contract renewal. Good luck
The phone is buggy as hell... it really sucks too bc I can't sell this pos to someone knowing it has this problem...I've read v21e fixes GC but I've also read it doesn't idk I've been using a partial wake lock but haven't had time to fully test it. Ill be off on for the 4th and can spend the day trying to get a ghost call but so far I haven't had any. If this doesn't work I'm going to the GNexus.. LG has known about this since feburary and its July and still nothing... never again will LG get my money.

Hi,
I bought a used HTC one on craiglist only to find out that is is stolen. Att wouldnt allow me to activate it.
I am so stressful now. What other option do I have with other carrier at all? Don't tell me to use as a wifi fone please.
Here is my IMEI. I dont understand that I already check that IMEI first hand, it shows clean, but somehow I still got scam.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do with this, it has happened to me in the past also. Just because the IMEI is clean when you bought it doesn't mean that a few days / weeks / months later the original owner doesn't report it lost / stolen at which point it becomes blocked to you.
The only resolution is for the person who reported it lost / stolen to the networks contact the network and advise they have located it, and they will then lift the IMEI bar

So there is no hope trying with T-mobile?
I just check with Imei checker, and they say T-mobile is clean. Do carriers share the blacklist?

Ive bought a lot of phones on CL. Ive only been burned once.
What i did learn is that if they have Asurion they have 30 days to file a Lost/Stolen claim with them.
Then another 120 days to finalize the claim and pay the deductible.
I had this happen to me when i got a TMO GS3. I had it 4 months and then one day it didnt work. I followed up with TMO and found it was listed as stolen. I knew the store manager and she remembers when i had them check it. She did some digging and found out the 30 day / 120 day timeline.
The crappy thing is, i emailed Asurion multiple times to let them know the person who reported it stolen was scamming people and using insurance fraudulently and they didnt care.
With insurance its easy to scam people. Without it not so much.
Hi guys,
I bought my phone about 2 weeks ago. In the first week I noticed a problem in my phone; there's a missing area at the bottom of my LCD (below soft keys). The area shows some noises (something like the reflections of the pages I open with my phone, e.g. Settings menu, Walkman app, anywhere in my phone). Actually this problem is so annoying and I'm gonna send the phone back to the Sony (The phone has warranty). Here's my question; does Sony replace the phone? Or it just repairs it?!
Thanks in advance

Try one of the following:
1. Do a factory reset from the phone (Setting - Backup & reset)
2. Use the Sony flash tool and try a manual flash of your ROM
If the above does not work then you will have to take it the Service Guys. They will check the piece and then replace it if required. I had my phone replaced as I had camera issues in less than 2 weeks of my ownership post which I have not had any issues.

I tried reinstalling firmware via PC Companion and it didn't help... I was afraid flashing the phone might void the warranty... Does it?

(the area below soft keys is missing...)
A few more things to mention:
* When I take a screenshot, everything is fine and the area below the soft keys isn't missing!
* At the first days, the missing area was appeared when phone was heaten a bit... But now (for about a week) the area is permanently missing!
It's much like hardware problem, I guess.

It's look like a line of dead pixels or LCD but in this case, if that is a Hardware problem you should see in that part of the screen problems in any conditions. Can you do a test, reboot your phone and look at the bottom of the screen where the line is, do you see something wrong?
If the LCD is dead but you take a screenshot logically the line is missing because is not recognize as the LCD is the problem.
I think you should send it to repair via Warranty, just to be sure.
BTW, you can also flash a Stock FTF from different region but for your model only, to check if it a system failure, using flashtool v.0.9.16 (it will not void your warranty).
My Z1 is broken after a major fall. It is outside the accident damage protection of six months but inside overall warranty. I get to understand that I will have to pay to get it replaced. Any idea on the price that I have to pay? If it makes sense I will get it replaced or else will buy a new one considering the price drop.
i've been reading quite a bit and seems like there's more pros than cons or is it just me i root my first GN4 and the first problem was the WiFi calling not working then i read people saying that S-health was also not working so i check and yes it was not working
then i read some post's about not receiving MMS and guess what i check and is not working
so what is it about this device , Im guessing that maybe this brick is just to much for the developers in here or its just a POS
that noone wants to fnck with it
well if anyone in here has the GN4 rooted and is fully working with no problem just let me know so i can try once again

I read what you wrote, but it makes no sense LOL. I have ONLY rooted and everything works just fine here. Actually use S-Health often, sent MMS today and have WiFi Calling right now as I type this! Might wanna try again, or maybe its just YOUR brick GN4
Edit: ALSO... Trust me its "not too much for the devs here". We have GREAT Devs but people that couldn't beat themselves out of a wet paper bag are killing XDA because they seem Entitled! .. I appreciate the fact you've been reading but no need to quietly insult any devs because you're having issues. I say try again. MANY peoples phones work flawless

Just did a client's phone.
Running firekat v11x.
It's a good rom to start with.
Flawless.
I've been rooted literally since the first day I got the phone, and then rooted my wife's the next day.
No problems on either phone. They've actually been honestly the best phones we've ever had as a whole.
Perhaps you just need to understand what it is you're doing a little better before you dive in.

All of the issues you described have nothing to do with root. Mostlikely it is becuase of the software you are running. Install a custom recovery (TWRP) and then flash Firkat v11 or DKat, and all of those feature should be working.
What build are you on? Setting > About device > Build number.
My guess is that the files you used were for the original build and not for the current build. That is the only time i have see issues come up and can always be fixed by flashing a ROM built for the newest NK4 basband.
