Rocking the Moto X and loving the active notifications and touchless control. I have a question if I use smart launcher (or any other third party launcher) will I lose these functions. Thanks in advance.

No you wont lose the features. The launcher is completely independent of the phones system features. That's not just for the moto x either. As long as it is not a feature specifically for the launcher you can keep it.

Hey guys, just wanna share this cool apps with you. All credits goes to the awesome dev who built them.
For notifications, install this from google play market
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.activenotifications
For Moto X camera features, install this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.prometheusinteractive.twisty_launcher
That's not the Moto X camera features, it's an app launcher that can be set to launch the camera apk ou anyother app. It also consumes +20MB of memory.

Use this app for Active Notifications, Check this Video for Active Voice..
It's probably possible but
1. N7 doesn't have the dedicated core to listening for a key term
2. It doesn't have an AMOLED display.
Which means, if someone gets it functioning here, don't expect good battery life.

I did some research and found that if you use the Tasker app along with the AutoVoice app you can create a continuouse recognise task and create a phrase that triggers tasker to execute a task you have pre-selected. A good feature is that the app is listening for that phrase even when the screen is turned off. That is very similar to the Moto X.
Obviously this will use more battery that the Moto X because the Moto X has a CPU Core dedicated to language recognition, etc.
There is also a youtube video demonstrating the use of these apps

Hope this helped

I'm assuming you're talking about the Google Experience Launcher like the Nexus 5 has? I have the Verizon version of this phone and my launcher is the same as yours....he installed something. Google "GEL launcher apk" and follow the instructions.
Here is the Launcher, I just installed it on my phone, no issues.

I installed GEL too. After that I couldn't use some moto features like the camera shake move. And the active notifications were gone as well.

Strange, I have it installed as well but I didn't lose any moto features. Did you install it as a system app?
I installed GEL without issue, as well.
Thanks for the link installed with no issues. As with any new launcher I restarted phone after install

Is it just me or is there no setting to change the pixels on the stock camera app for Moto X? I hate the fact that each picture I take eatsup a little over 3MB.
Phone: Moto X
ROM: 4.4 Stock w/ Root
Xposed: GravityBox & App Settings
Service: T-Mobile
Android Stuff: http://ozzygeek.tumblr.com
I've not seen that setting anywhere either.

Agent doesn't let you reply, either, does it?

hmmmm I will have to download it again and try it out. Thanks for the tip.
Love Agent. The only thing I miss from stock is Moto Connect for SMS via Chrome browser on desktop and the Moto unlock screen.
Mighty Text replaces connect very well
