Anyone have recommendations (and settings) for tethering apps?

Hi,
I just bought my SGS i9000 in France a few days back. It's locked to SFR here. I tried searching the forums for an answer to these but had no luck.
I noticed 2 things:
1. There is no "Mobile AP Settings" under Wireless and Network settings. I installed appbrain and I can see the "Mobile AP settings" under the installed apps.. but I can't run them. Any pointers as to how I can enable this? I would love to use this function in the SGS.
2. No Samsung App store app is installed with the phone. Is there any way to do this? I wanna install the Asphalt 5 game.
Thanks for your pointers!

I do have it.
This might be a dumb question but why would you want to freeze the mobile hotspot? Can't it be toggled on/off in settings?
i think he wants it out of his app drawer, or maybe he's having the same problem i'm having, weather i use opengarden, barnacle, or any of the other tethering apps, i get an icon in my notification that the "verizon" app is trying to use wifi tether
Just get some app that freezes apps. Titanium can do the job. I got my hotspot froze.

You cannot freeze it. It is buried inside some other system program, I don't remember which. You could find it and edit it out, but that is pretty advanced stuff.
He wants to freeze it because it is ALWAYS running. It will drive you insane if you use a task manager widget.
The only thing I know to work is a custom ROM. None of them have it, but you can use AOSP Wifi tether. Try Eclipse.

Hi.
I am looking for an app for quick starting USB tethering.
My SGS runs @ ICS 4.0.4.
I have tried several apps from the market.. but nothing works out.
Any tips for me?
I am also looking for the same for ICS on an I9100.
Do any exist that actually work?
Has nobody any advice for a working usb tethering widget?
(for ICS 4.0.x)
I need one too ???????????
Hi.
Workaround: Tethering Link on my homescreen
i use holo launcher hd
Can't seem to find a good app for my Android Samsung Vibrant to tether my WebOs Touchpad. Anyone know one that works?
I use the built in tether function in Android. Are you running a custom ROM? Is your phone rooted? Do you have tethering enabled on your phone line?

My phone is rooted and I'm running a custom Android 2.2 rom from Team Whiskey. I just found out that the Tether Widget app I got from the Amazon App Store works only until I reboot. If I remove the widget from my home screen and then reenable the widget after a reboot it works again. Can't seem to get the widget to work without doing this. This is the only app/widget I have found that works with my Touchpad running WebOs. I have no problem with this as I am not a big widget fan. This widget has no settings that I have found, it just works. I don't tether my phone to my Touchpad much so this is not a problem. I can enable the widget when I want to tether. Just good to know I have this when I need it.
If you are running a custom ROM you should be able to use the built in tethering.
Settings > Wireless and Networking > Mobile AP
The built in feature is usually reliable. I never have to reboot when using the built in tethering.

Thanks didn't know about that.
So I am rather new to this and I just successfully rooted my boost sm-j700p today... I want to get a hotspot going on it and was wondering if there is an app I should download or change the APN settings myself. What would be recommended here?
