I got an AT&T HTC One last night from someone who said they had bricked it. They were actually beginners and someone else had rooted their phone, but he had deleted the OS. Here's what I know: It's loaded with TWRP (2.6), the phone fails to mount the USB, ADB Sideloading doesn't seem to work, When I reboot to Bootloader it says "***Tampered***, ***Unlocked***, and S-On." I also tried loading the phone in Fastboot USB and running the RUU with no luck since the computer can't seem to recognize the phone.
I know this is fixable and if I could get it to mount, I'd be golden. What do I do?
Thanks so much in advance for your help!

No other workaround? Not a huge issue, I would just have to wait for the thing to be shipped to me.

Sideloading would've been the work-around, but since adb doesn't seem to be working, I guess not. You could try from a different comp or reflash your recovery and see if that helps.

Let me make sure:
in TWRP I go to Advanced, then ADB Sideload, I swipe the bar at the bottom, then it says:
"ADB Sideload
Usage: adb sideload filename.zip
Updating partition details...
starting ADB sideload feature..."
From then, the loading bar just keeps going and there's never a change. So I know I'm doing it correctly, am I supposed to have something pulled up in the terminal on my comp when I do this? I have the SDK. Got to SDK>Platform-tools>adb in the terminal before connecting the USB? I swear I must just be doing one wrong step.

Yep, keep the rom in the same folder as the adb tools, and type

ADB installed, still not recognizing any devices. Is there any extreme measures to take? Starting to feel like my computers will never recognize the device as is.
Go into fastboot on your phone and try the command: "fastboot devices" on your computer, if it get recognized we can go further from there for finding your CID and flashing an RUU.

I rebooted into bootloader and made sure phone said Fastboot USB. In the terminal I typed cd [...]sdk/platform-tools, then typed adb which brought up all the commands for adb. I then typed "devices" it didn't recognize any devices attached, I then typed "fastboot", it brought up all the fastboot commands, I typed "devices" here and still no luck recognizing any devices.
I apologize for my slight noobness. I really do get a lot of this stuff, I'm just terribly stuck.

Im having this same issue, after trying to flash android revolution on my unlocked/rooted rogers One, it froze on the successfully installed part and I had to wait for it to die to try to restart it.
I cannot boot into recovery or connect it to my computer in any way, ./adb reboot bootloader doesnt work it says cannot find device.
When I vol down + power the bottom lights just blink and the phone does nothing.
Any idea on how I can reflash the phone?

On the computer however, it just says "<Waiting for device>" forever. weird

Okay, well thanks for your help though!
I have a couple ideas, not sure if any work.
1) test with the phone in android to see if HTC Sync recognizes the phone
2) Re-download fastboot and re extract it to make sure it's not that
3) Boot into twrp and see if it recognizes adb commands. This one won't fix it, but I'm just wondering if could possibly be a problem with the phone not recognizing while not in system
4) Use adb to reboot to bootloader instead of using the apm or holding down volume. "adb reboot bootloader"
If I helped you don't forget the thanks button!

Once both are booted plug your phone in and it should load a bunch if drivers

When your phone is fully booted up and you plug your cable in can you see all your files on the sd card? Does your computer know you have a device plugged and and install the driver for it?
Do you have sdk installed and updated?

Yes make sure you have your android-sdk files updated there have been quite a few updates recently including drivers.
Yea, I am not in your league.
Hope this is in the right place.
I formatted my HTC1 like an idiot when I meant to wipe and am a little stuck.
ADB doesn't register on my PC so I can't sideload.
No installed ROM so I can't get into the system.
RUU flashes fail with a (remote: 24 parsing android-info fail)
Rooted, S-On and I have custom recovery images... TWRP and CWM...
I've tried everything I can think of and everything google can think of...
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

The only thing I can think of then is to find an RUU for your phone hopefully. ADB Push/Sideload normally works in your situation. Try a different cable, different USB port, different computer

do you have a windows computer?
you most likely just need to install some drivers and then ADB will work.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/74163067/HTC ONE DRIVERS.zip
those are the windows drivers. unzip the folder. open device manager. see here http://i.imgur.com/9LeGRJI.png
right click the "htc one" > "update driver software" > "browse my computer" then select the folder where you extracted the zip to. it will automatically install the correct driver. do the same for "my HTC" or any other devices that appear in those two top-level menus.
Have been through multiple drivers, some of which apparently work but still cant find the device when i try to push or sideload.
Have just done a full wipe and am going to attempt starting again from scratch with TWRP and Revolution HD.
Just to clarify I have tried multiple ports and cables, even bought a new USB 3 card, I don't have access to another PC or Laptop.

Adb doesn't like usb 3, apparently.. Are you sure you're opening the cmd window from inside the adb/fastboot folder?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
sideload is working as I type... it seems flashing recovery as aposed(SP?) to just booting a recovery makes a world of difference, will let you know if the install works. usb3 doesn't seem to be an issue though.
Hussah! It works! Thankyou all for you suggestions and input it has been greatly appreciated!
To flash with adb you need to boot ur phone in recovery mode, not in the bootloader... Took me a while to understand that
