You can always flash a prerooted .257
Look in the dev section for them. There are a couple with instructions on how flash them

Have you tried reading the update changelog on kingo website? It's very visible. Nothing about Z1 there. Simple deduction, it will most likely not root 257

I just don't want to take too long and any risks with flashing the prerooted 257 , I rather wait. and I contacted kingo to see if it will work.

It doesn't take long, and there is no risk. I am running my version now...its fine.

Kingo Android Root V1.1.1 is coming up! Many thanks to Ryan, with his help and testing work the Development Team fixed the SuperSU bug.
In this new version:
1. SuperSU updated to the latest version of v1.65
2. Fixed bugs concerning the conflict issue with certain apps after employing root script on Samsung Galaxy Note2,Note3 and S Series.
3. Removed several root scripts due to license issue, which would effect few SONY models.
This is from official kingoapp FB. Yet there are nothing specific about rooting Z1.

Hmm your right the softkeys are really huge and ugly....could you tell me how to hide them?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Thanks teamhtc I just removed my softkeys thanks to some hide softkeys app and made it that they would only show when I touch the bottom right of my screen.
It looks so much better now
Also it's really easy to go back to the old unbranded firmware and update pre rooted.
So I suggest doing that instead of waiting for kingo......

Please help! Can't root my LT30at!

So yesterday I bought a Sony xperia tl-lt30at and I can't seem to root it.. I've had an htc, nexus s 4g, and galaxy s2 and rooted all with no problem. I've tried the methods for rooting the lt30at found in the forums here with no luck, the back up and restore app seems to freeze when I try to restore the "root me" method. I also have flashed a recovery image but the pressing up or down over n over during boot up. I can return my phone but I'd rather not, I love this phone. Anyone have any suggestions?

Root works fine on my xperia tl
No there is still a problem.
It does root the phone initially but on running Titanium backup (TB) superuser keeps asking for root access continuously (even though i've checked "remember"). And after a while the root access is gone.
Don't know whats going on, can reproduce this every time.
In one instance i was able to do a complete backup of all my apps with TB and then on next TB start it said no root access.
Maybe some conflict between SU and TB?
btw, SU version is somewhat old v3.2 2012-07
LT30at
Carrier At&T
Android version 4.1.2
Build: 9.1.F.1.120
UPDATE:
Installed the other Superuser (Koushik Dutta) and all is working.
So something not right with Chainsd's superuser that came installed while rooting. Probably the old version does not work (found no way to update to new version), it always complained about providing access.
In any case, all fine now. Hope this helps someone.
lt30at at 4.1.2 rooted with Bin4ry_v36
Hi guys,
I just want to confirm that i rooted my lt30at in JB (4.1.2) with the software:
Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v36.zip
I chose the option 4 and follow the instructions. I had to install before the JDK and the android SDK. Additionally check the device have the developer options enabled.
Best Regards,
julian8c

A couple of questions..

Is there anyway to hide non used apps?
Will there be a option in a future update to move apps to sd?
Thanks

Root, then remove bloatware.
Use app2sd or similar app from the play store to move apps to sd card. Root is needed

Root won't break camera but will void your warranty! If your'e a first time android user, I suggest you don't root as any **** ups might result in you just having an expensive brick.. Get used to android for a few months before you do any of this stuff.. Unlocking bootloader will cause the camera to break but in your case you don't need to do that.

root will NOT void your warrenty because you can always unroot and leave no trace that the phone was ever rooted.
So you don't have to unlock the bootloader. To be able to root?.

Nope. I think all you need is an application called "VRoot" works for the Z1 as well. As the program is in Chinese, there's a thread about how to use it here. It's also got the download links and stuff
No,
Please read the guides in the dev section, Your questions are answered there

Bin4ry's tool doesn't work for that firmware version.
Do this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386405
Follow the instructions carefully. It definitely works as I rooted the same firmware version with it myself.
If you have never used Flashtool before, here is a guide to setup drivers etc and flash - How to flash stock roms with Flashtool
Also, somebody may come in here and recommend that you use something called Kingo to root your phone. Personally, I don't trust it as there is no information on how it works or what it pushes to your phone, so keep that in mind.

Yep, you cannot see anything untoward, so it's completely fine!
I'm not saying that this Kingo app does anything bad, but do you think it would flash a notification toast up on screen saying "Please wait: Stealing your personal data" if it did?
I personally do not trust it and therefore will not recommend it to anybody over a method supplied by a trusted developer such as DooMLoRD, even if the process is one click and therefore foolproof.

[Q] Is there "one-click" rooting for 4.3 (.290) firmware?

So it seems there is not simple VROOT or Kingo Android ROOT style rooting available for those who don't want to unlock the boot loader.
Anyone came across anything similar that works?
I'm aware of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588331 and the instruction in there, this is not quite the same as what I'm looking for.
Not yet.
I just want to ask this though. If unlocking doesn't break anything anymore why are you guys not willing to unlock.
On one side there are users who bash the manufacturers all year long just to get their devices unlocked, to no avail. Then some super awesome dev comes by with a Santa stick and pwns the bootloaders. (ex-AtrixHD user). And there are those who have unlockable bootloaders but don't want to unlock. I do not understand why really...This is my first unlockable phone. Unlocked my N7 2013 one month from purchase. Never have been happier.

Useless, I already tried iHackers (pre-rooted stock-ish) on locked bootloader and got partial root access because Sony's RIC is in the kernel now. So whatever you do, you will only get partial root unless (somehow) you disable it. And currently there's no way to do it with a locked bootloader.

are we likely to ever see a 1 click root for 4.3?????
4.4 Kitkat will be out soon, make sense to whoever makes these 1click roots to just wait for 4.4Kitkat.
i stuck with 4.2 for now. locked BL and nothing on 4.3 to get excited about. rooted.4.2 is better. ill happily wait for 4.4

[Q] SOund bug : 4.3 build .136 and NO Equalizer or Effect working anymore!

Well guys,
I spotted a new problem, confirmed yesterday night (I wasn't sure, since I updated my new Z1 even before starting to use it). My old Z1 was running 4.2.2, though it had black screen wild restart issue from the opening (I was unlucky!), the equalizer were working without problem. I also use two amps that are able to boost the bass and enhance vocals by themselves so I was blinded.
Since I updated to 4.3 build .136, I don't have any equalizer working anymore. Nor the Walkmann one, nor Noozxoide, Noor Bass Booster. Nothing seems to work. Just a moment ago I had an update for Walkmann which was useless, the problem remains.
Is there a way to fix this? I'm not rooted. I will go the root way if I can sort this out. My only worry about root is the bootloader thing, a member already answered me about this but I had not the chance to check my version nor how to keep it unlocked if already unlocked.
