Although flashing will not work, alarms, notifications and ringtones (i.e. non-system sounds) can still be easily extracted from the archive and copied to their respective folders manually...

They'll need to be put in /sdcard/media or a similar folder on SD card because without root they can't get to

Nope, no need for root. What I meant was to put those sounds under Ringtones, Alarms and Notifications folders on either int. or ext. SD card. This will make them available for choosing in sound settings.

Like that title says is anyone having issues with replacing system apps? I've tried replacing systemui via root explorer and all i get is forced closes. My next step would be to adb but for 5 plus files it seems excessive.

The ROM isn't zipaligned, so changing any system files will not work. We will have to wait for zipaligned roms

One of my favorite boot animations. Resized for our tablets.
Copy to /system/media and reboot. You need root access to copy this. Most people use root explorer for this. This is only for aosp roms such as AOKP / CM10 and the like. Not for stock roms!!
Download: http://d-h.st/3dg
Thanks for this. Question, did you have to delete the old boot animation file and did you have to mess with permissions?

You can backup the old boot animation on the sd card, or rename it to something that dont mess up with the new one.
@OT Could you provide more bootanimations? And maybe for the 7 inch and the 10 inch one?

Yes just rename it to bootanimation.old or copy it to a safe place (like the external SD card)

OP updated with resized animation.
I have been working on this a bit and have failed at it miserably.
I'm trying to get this animation onto my tab:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/20788-bo...ic-old-skool-arcade-title-screen/page__st__10
Ideally I'd like to get it running in "portrait" mode, which I think means all the images need to be rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
I haven't managed to succeed, only make my tab not display anything on screen anymore in landscape mode, and display only like 1/3rd of the screen in portrait mode.
That was fun to fix LOL.
Anyways, any suggestions? It seems like this should be easy!
Looks great! I'm about to try.

Copy to sdcard

navigate to the root \ system \ app to rename original CameraApp.apk to CameraApp.old

Open the camera in settings, the camera sound, select the tone number four (Off)

I guess you are flashing a 4.2.2 MMS.apk on a 4.1.1 rom so it's not going to work.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637121
It's for 4.0.4 but should work on 4.1.1, if it not work then restore the original MMS.apk you can get it from one of the 4.1.1 roms on the forum.
