Looks like the KitKat update started pushing to non-rooted users on Friday. Just wanted to let everyone know. Should be version 4.06.651.4. Hit that update button if you are waiting.
This is not a question so it probably belongs in General. That said if you look in General there are 4 threads about this.
Android 4.4 is officially rolling out for the S4 Sprint Variant
Anyone got the update yet?
First off. Wrong place to.ask a question. Those go in the Q&A section. Second of all, there is already a thread on this. So make sure you search next time.

I just got my 4.2.2 GT-i9295.
Here's too much confusing information, can someone please answer:
Root the device now? with what? (a link please)
OR let it install the 4.4.2 OTA update first? (if the ~200MB one is 4.4.2??)
or can I just flash a pre-rooted 4.4.2?
I looked through various threads over the last 2 hours, I'm confused now... one says 4.4.2 will lock the bootloader and KNOX will screw things up, but another says that's only for AT&T versions, I have INTL... and another says everything is not a problem, KingoApp can do it. And another says I have to downgrade to 4.3 again ?!?
4.4.2 isnt out for the i9295 yet. Im in the same boat and just waiting for something definitive which will probably be OTA.

can i get the i9295 4.4.2 rooted version yet?
also in the same boat,
reading all these different threads about 4.4.2 and rooting but getting confused, Seems a lot of the instructions are for the i537.
I'm currently on 4.2.2 with I9295 unlocked and rooted. build number is jdq39.i9295vjuamg3. would like to upgrade it to 4.4.2 but absolutely want a rooted phone. looking for a straight forward guide to follow. FYI i have ti backup pro and busybox installed. can anyone point me to the correct thread.
normally i stick with the stock versions but if there is a very good and widely recognized non stock 4.4.2 version with everything working and maybe some of the bloat taken out i'd be happy to give that a try. again if anyone can post a link to the thread with some relatively straight forward instructions that would be great.
or do i need to wait a bit longer for the rooted version of 4.4.2 for the i9295?
thanks folks
bob
This is a stock XT1058 running 4.4.4 212.44.26.ghost_att.ATT.en.US (build KXA21.12-L1.26)
My parents have an older LG on 4.4.4 getting all sorts of Google play update errors. I'd like to give them this phone. I could use your help in confirming what I should put on it. I was hoping to get something 5.x on it, but I do see various threads with people having various issues with lollipop, even rolling back to 4.4.4. Hopefully the answer isn't to keep it at 4.4.4
If the answer is to keep it as is, are there any issues to note? Will it eventually have Google Play update errors since it is so old?
If the answer is to try a newer ROM, please link me. Especially if it is on Filefactory. I cannot seem to search on their site.... I would probably follow this thread:

Sorry to be creating another Oreo thread but the ones I'm finding either aren't Sprint phones, are closed, or are months old with no replies.
Has anyone on Sprint with a note 8 gotten Oreo yet i heard the roll out would be starting in March.
Also can we expect an update to the Samsung experience version anytime soon?

That is full of way too many Oreo threads.
I think that we all will hear something about it from samsung itself first

Because it's in the q&a not everywhere else I don't mind all the oreo threads but there are more than enough in general sections

You do have to Odin back to stock and do the OTA update from the carrier if you want to receive OTA updates
