I have a Moto X developer edition and I've been trying to OTA update to 139.15.1 but my phone fails with the error code 410. I found the Flashable zip and so I'm going to install it with that but for future installs how do I do it with the OTA. The phone failed both while rooted and while running a stock nandroid I made before rooting. With the stock nandroid the only thing modified was the unlocked bootloader. Yes I am using the stock recovery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

there are threads out there already describing how to take the ota on a dev phone. But pure curiosity here, how in the hell are you making nandroid backups with stock recovery? I had noidea stock recovery allowed you to make those backups. I thought that was the point of other recoveries.

It isn't possible to make a nandroid backup with a stock recovery. I meant I reflashed the stock recovery after making the backup. Anyway it is possible to make a backup that includes your stock recovery by using the fastboot boot command to boot to a recovery over usb rather than flashing it to your recovery partition.

interesting. Still wouldn't expect the OTA to work if you booted that way though. The OTA would be checking the files on the phone not the files from the usb that are running the phone. I wouldn't think. But I could be really confused on what you just said. Either way, there are several threads on the matter that should adequately answer all your needs.

i get what you were saying now. I thought you were saying that you were booting your phone from a usb drive that had the stock recovery on it so you could see if the OTA would take on your phone. Anyway, I dont' remember all of the steps that people were taking but it was pretty simplistic.

You really haven't given much informaton to go on. Basics with any help request;-
What are you trying to achieve?
What version are you running?
What ROM were you on before?
Rooted?
Bootloader locked or unlocked?
What recovery have you installed?
EXACT error message - this is the single most important detail!!
There are plenty of guides around if you are trying to get from 'Stock' to CM10.1;-
Upgrade to 'Stock' JB first
Root
Unlock bootloader
Install CWM (v6.0.3.1)
Install CM from zip
Install gApps from zip
.....
Profit

Highlighted in red for a very good reason. You'll need to reflash your stock v10e first, yet again there are guides on how to do this. Once you have the phone back up and running on v10e then read carefully and make sure you understand all the steps before trying again

Via LG mobile supporter I'm installing 20a or something. Then I will redo it. Thanks for your effort in helping. Hahaha. :good:
Since late November of last year my N900A has been running stock OS (Android 4.3) but is rooted via RDLV and soon after did the OTA update to MJ5.
I would like to start experimenting with Xposed modules but I would like to make a complete backup of my device just in case something goes wrong. Since our bootloader is still locked and and we cannot install Clockworkmod Recovery or TeamWin Recovery Project, what are my other options?
Thank you in advance.

One of the benefits to being s-off is you don't have to take the OTA...you just flash the firmware and done.

i did that and then i was unable to take profile or prl updates :crying: it also didnt apear to have fixed the signal issue... i might not have waited enough... or it could have something to do with the unability to take prl and profile updates... anyhow ill try again from a diferent download see what happens
Did your baseband change? last four should be .0610.
If it did change then it's most likely a network issue.

Yes the baseband did change but the signal problem persists. i need to take the FULL ota to fix my phone (or install something else that will) regardless the radios alone aren't fixing the issue.
i tried flashing the rafios by themselves and it wouldnt update prl or profile; it also had the same signal issue. i tried the radios AND the new stock rom for it and same thing. i tried going back to stock and taking the ota and the ota wouldnt install.
Thoughs?
I'm the same root/s-off. I flash the h/k sound file did you find a way to install the latest ota update?
I cant figure out how to get the OTA either
I have S-Off im also rooted, and i have TWRP recovery, i can't get the zip to flash. I was thinking about doing a stock root recovery using the RUU, but then i thought if i do that, would i still be able to reroot using the same method? so my question is, how can i flash this zip and keep my root? or should do a stock recovery from the RUU and update and wait for another root? if any devs read this, i'd really like your help please and thank you. I currently have the stock rom with just root access and S-Off.no custom roms on here.
man.. i have the same problem bro.. smh.. hey man keep me posted if something comes up

You have to have stock recovery to take the update, which means you have to flash stock recovery first and then take the update, then repeat the rooting process.

you should at least have seen a green arrow circle and/or a red triangle with a "!" in the middle. if you saw the triangle that is recovery trying and failing to update. at this point if you press and releast volumeup+power it should bring up the text of what it did.

I'm looking at the MikMik one, and I am just not sure if this will erase all my apps and settings. Do I need to use a backup app or should I be ok flashing this and keeping all my apps and settings?
So my phone is rooted with unlocked bootloader running faux kernel. I just received the ota update and clicked the button for restart and install. When I did that it brought me to my main option list in twrp. I didn't know what to do so I hit reboot system. It rebooted but nothing showed updating when I did that. Showing I'm still on 5.0.0.
What did I need to do? How do I still update now?
You cannot accept ota if you're modified.
You'll have to flash a ROM.zip or fastboot flash system.and boot image.from the factory images

If you download the image from google there is a zip drive with the files you are looking for inside of them. You can fastboot them individually.
Or you could just flash one of the many roms on here that are using the newer 5.0.2

Hey guys, I was hoping to flash a pure stock 7.x preferably via twrp.
A buddy of mine a year ago and me to flash pure Nexus for him but now needs a stock phone for business security net purposes.
Is there a link for this? I've searched and have come up short.
I'm guessing it'll have to update bootloader, radio and kernel as well?
I know how to do this via command line. Was really hoping for a way to do it on the fly since this is not my phone and taking a PC for a TWRP ready device is a hassle.

This should be a relatively easy thing so I'm surprised it doesn't exist
there is no reason for it to HAVE to be twrp flashable, just google for "NEXUS ROOT TOOLKIT" you will see on there restore to stock, and re-lock boot-loader, not positive but i think twrp cant flash stock unrooted images, i could be wrong

TWRP can flash a stock image if someone creates it. Unless there is something odd about the nexus, but I doubt that. The only thing that shouldn't be flashed stock would be recovery.
I don't think I need to use some toolkit... adb and fastboot commands are simple enough.
I was hoping to avoid needing a PC at another persons house, I mean that is kinda the point of twrp.
I am surprised this doesn't exist. It does for every other device I've owned. It's honestly just a wiped clean, twrp backup of a stock device with TWRP installed.
If I owned the device I would make it for you guys. It seems something that is lacking that is really handy.
I guess I'll round up a laptop. Thanks for the links and suggestions.
Google has done that for you already. Just unpack the archive you choose and the four images are in there.

Different Google search gave this. I can find nothing else on TWRP site or G+
Appears you can also use FlashFire.
Thanks for the help.
OP could flash one of the stock lite ROMs in the development forum and get the TWRP-flashable stock ROM he's looking for. Danvdh and tupac4u both offer one that is nothing more a debloated stock ROM.
TWRP is able to flash system images from 3.0.2 and on. Just unpack the archive and select install img. Remember to flash stock kernel and newest radio and bootloader too (bare in mind that flashable bootloader is harder to find. You might have to find older one and update the files inside on your own). Afterwards flash stock recovery and lock bootloader with a zip. Now you can just reboot it. It's not that hard.

Thank you.
I went ahead and simply flashed him 100% stock via flash and fastboot.
This is probably resolved now, just adding info though. I had flashed stock 7.1.1 zip downloaded from google via twrp 3.0.3.0. It removed twrp itself too and I was back on stock.
