[Q] Odin on Linux - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 with manually installed XFCE GUI. My question is: Can I first-root my phone also from Linux (Ubuntu). I need the drivers and Odin - Are there any linux versions? Thank you!!

Most tools for pre-rooting official firmware and dsixda kitchen works fine under linux, but if you need something for flash you need to use heimdall.

Thanks for answering . I think Heimdall is only for Galaxy S GT-I9000, Galaxy S GT-I9000, GT-I9000T, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100), Galaxy S3 (GT-I9505) and S3(GT-I9000). Can I still use it for my S III Mini?

You can have odin on android, search in chainfires threads.

I flashed my I8190 with Heimdall - at least the recovery .... and it works.
And if you have implemented a custom recovery you can do anything beyond w/o need of flashing via Odin or heimdall.
I flashed TWRP 2.6.3 and started it to check whether it works. It did. Then I wanted to reboot the system and TWRP recognised that the ROM was unrooted and asked to flash SU-binaries. I confirmed. All I had to do then was to install Superuser from playstore.
Edit: I also have Ubuntu 13.10. I did not install any USB drivers I only did install heimdall. I think its available in one of the canonical repositories. Just try
Code:
sudo apt-get install heimdall-flash*

i8190 is not supported in mobile odin, so I suggest not to use

mobile odin and n5110
Does mobile odin support n5110?

baseband is ddla3 becoz you flashed my ddla3 odin pack
since you restored nandroud, thats why build number is ddla2
if you just flash ddla3 and not restorr nandroid then build number will also be ddla3

[Q] GT-N7000 Root Issues

Hi Guys,
Probably typical Noob issue here but i will give you a run down on what my problem is.
Followed Rootmygalaxynote Video.
Downloaded
CWM.zip
CWM-SuperSU-v0.87.zip
franco.Kernel-r5.zip
All seemed ok except
1.Phone will now not find IP address and is always trying to verify.
2.Cannot connect to my computer via usb.
Downloaded Busybox and Rootchecker and it says my device is not rooted.
Question is, is there a way to sort these issues without having to use my cellular data to download something to fix it?
1. Attempted to repair by resetting modem/router
2.Tried to reinstall/update drivers but keeping getting device driver problem notification
All and any help would be appreciated.
What rom are you on? The simplest root method is to download the corresponding PhilZ kernel and flash it through recovery mode.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I am just on the stock ICS rom. Do you have a link for the PhilZ kernel. Phone still works ok but would like to be able to use wifi around the house.
Yes I'm using philz too
But be aware that it is touch based so you may(only may*)have problem using hardware keys in Philz cwm recovery

Choose the one that is for your kernel(not baseband)
And for rooting I used rootmygalaxynote.com (or something like this)
There was a method that used only one time flashing a zip
Since I did not buy this phone with guaranty I did not read about raising flash counter. But make sure you do

Once again, you don't need to root your device if you flash the PhilZ Kernel because the PhilZ Kernel is already rooted. Just flash it through stock recovery and your phone is rooted.

You said you used rootmygalaxynote.com to root your phone. That's not necessary. Coming from a stock rom you can simply flash the PhilZ Kernel through stock recovery (volume up, home and power button). That's all you need to root a Note.

[Q] [Question] How to Flash Stock ROM without ODIN

Hi,
I have the following problem:
I have a S5830L which I've downloaded the Samsung Unbranded Stock ROM GB 2.3.6 for this phone.
The problem is that when I put it on Download mode ODIN detects it BUT when I click on start it stops on "SetupConnection" and after 10 min it shows fail.
The phone is running fine, but It has the carriers ROM and with version 2.3.4, with CWM
How can I flash it via ODIN or another method?
I cannot figure out...
Thanks!
There's a thing called mobile Odin. Not sure if it works for your device but you can use the search option here to find out more...
