Just wonder if it will be possible to install S-Note and S-Memo on CM10? These are very useful tools for the Galaxy Note users.

For the last time nope these apps require Samsung framework included only in the touchwiz roms
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Simple answer: NO
S-Pen apps and features require Samsung framework, There is no Samsung framework in any CM / AOSP / AOKP ROMs.
However there are alternative apps that do similar jobs.
Check the list of alternatives in the CM threads.

You could always use a TW Based Customer ROM - CleaNote or something...
Wow youre the first person asking this kidding.
There was a legend working on it, but because he is a really good developer, he has to prioritize. Currently he is cm10 ing, which the whole community is wanting, only fraction is wanting touchwizz on cm9/10.
I guess you can try by searching and not asking, who that person is. Ask him by pm if you can help. He has been mentioned three to four times already.
The philosophy of xda (I am noob and development illiterate, my lameass excuse) is if its not here, you want it, you build it! At least 2 other people will be happy so its rewarding

So, been wondering for a while. When will the next big "Customized" ROM occur? We've already gotten MIUI and its pretty cool, but wouldn't you want to see something new? Something not based off of iOS or Android in general but still able to to run on Android? Something fresh, new, never before seen? I've no idea what it would look like or how it would run, but maybe you guys do? A "Wish list" if you will, the appearance, how it preforms (keep in mind Hardware limitations of various phones), etc.
I guess I can (dream) start:
-The next potential Cyanogenmod but appears nothing like your standard Android OS
-Running on ICS and JB?
Just bored and I wanna see what some people can come up with. Maybe if a talented developer or a group of them could come together to pull something off? (One can only imagine)

There's a limit to what a developer can do with the Android source code, especially with a biannual release schedule. I'm not sure there will be anything radically different any time soon. If Google switches to one major update a year it might be possible.
I've always thought ParanoidAndroid looked cool but never tried it. It's a tablet hybrid ROM for phone.

I was about to say that. I love it, it's just something fresh.

I've also tried and loved PA, but its pretty much lost support for my device since no one wants to pick it up. And over time, you eventually lose interest.

I think a PS3 style ROM would be cool... really simplistic looking

If you mean Sony's XCMB it probably won't happen. They aren't exactly fans of outside development.
Something like Windows phone? The UI I mean, its pretty "outside the box" a ROM that's "never before seen" A status bar that is accessible via swiping from the left or right? A Facebook friendly ROM? (Will never happen unless FB releases source code) Let your ideas flow!

Lol, what did I say?
And PA is already pretty much CM, just modified for dpi changes. But adding MIUI? Hmm...

Haha, you mentioned a Facebook friendly ROM I think we'll just stick with the crappy app.
Check goo manager, there are 2 nightlys for carbon rom for our device. Used to run it on the Gnex. Pretty slick features.

Tried nightly 3. Didn't notice any issues at all. The options for carbon seem practically endless.
It's now on nightly 4. He should start a thread to get the word out.

I'm sure Carbon is a good rom but can anyone give an idea of what it can do that the device cannot do on the stock rom with custom launcher and third party apps? Since the Sprint S4 version does not have it's own changelog (at least I didn't see one) not sure what features are working and what doesn't. Also, don't you lose all the air gestures, eye tracking, etc when going to AOSP rom?
I tried nightly 3 and I kept getting setup wizard fc. do I have to flash an aosp kernel or does it come with one.

Yes your going to loose the entire set of unique TW features that come with the S4 - air gestures, smart scroll, etc. A lot of people don't care for those features, me personally, I like to show them off but I don't ever really use them.
A lot of people absolutely despise the TW interface. And yes some of it can be changed with third party apps and mods but not all of it. Some people want the clean AOSP experience, you can easily theme your entire interface (dialer, messaging, unique colors, blah) with themes from the play store without the need for downloading a bunch of third party apps for each individual thing you want to change. Also native DPI changer is included in a lot of AOSP roms. It's really just personal preference. None of the Samsung bloat, Sprint bloat, awful TW colors, just check out roms like AOKP, AOSPA, CM, etc, on other devices.
I recommend checking out Slimbean for our device to get the general gist of what AOSP roms provide you with.

I really liked Slimbean but ended up going back to TW, AOSP is getting there, but I ran into too many bugs that I didn't have to deal with when I was using TW. I miss just being able to switch roms as I please, but my job kind of requires me having a phone that works, all the time, and quickly. Hopefully in the next week or so those issues are fixed because they seem to be on the nightly (or in the process of being fixed on the nightly) (all my problems were with signal and calling. Ex: distorted voice, bars were all over the place and I randomly lost signal in places where I had full bars of 4G with TW)
Just a word of caution if you decide to hop ship from touchwiz.
Besides that, AOSP>Touchwiz because I sure as hell only use the features to show off, i'd much rather have a stock unified UI than having to download apps to achieve that. It's also alot quicker since you don't have the framework of TW and the features weighing it down :good:

Carbon was ok, but... I really liked JBSourcery and wouldn't mind seeing it come to our phone. But if I had my choice I would take a Caulklin ROM in a heartbeat. Man I am all over the place.

I'm familiar with AOSP roms (ran them on many other phones) but was specifically asking about Carbon. Not bagging on AOSP roms just seems like a larger sacrifice with all the newer features of the S4. Granted I do think a lot are gimmicky and don't work that well but do use Smartstay & IR functions.
Just curiosity more than anything.

you wouldn't lose IR function. smart remote is compatible with sgsiv and aosp.
Due to Dev no longer being able to continue updates to Hyperdroid ROM. Need to get a poll of where people are migrating to. I'm looking for a similar ROM with virtually ZERO bugs like Hyperdroid has.
Looking forward to seeing where people are going.

I would suggest the new 4.3 Revolt Alpha. Even though it is still in alpha, it doesn't have any major bugs, and even call audio is working!
Rick
Hey, I was interested in buying the galaxy gear. Only problem is, I own a note 2 with cyanogenmod11-20131123. Anyway, I googled and found out that I can in fact use the watch with the null rom.
I did find out that I can install apps from the play store. But before I went along and bought it, I wanted to know if anyone had any personal experience with cm11 and the watch. Specifically with the functionality of the hangouts (SMS), whatsapp and the phone app. Any warning I should know about before I buy it?
You'd be best to read the threads here. Null makes no difference to stock in regards to compatibility with non touchwiz roms.
You can however get a fair bit to work with some workarounds
