Hi, I am having a problem installing apps via the Google play store on my PC. When I try to do this, I get an error on the phone "Error while downloading "App Name". "App Name" could not be downloaded due to an error. (906).
If I click on the error, it takes me to the app on Google play on the phone where I can successfully download and install it directly from the phone. So I have a workaround, but the phone itself is second hand so I am worried it is faulty and causing this problem (and therefore who knows what other problems might be around the corner?).
As a bit of background info, the phone came rooted on 534 firmware and I updated to 257 via PC companion. I knew this would lose root but I don't want the phone rooted anyway (don't use any rooted apps etc). However SuperSU was installed and now I can't get rid of it (unless I downgrade, root again, then remove SuperSU and upgrade once more). I don't know if the fact it was rooted has caused the problem, or perhaps the upgrade while rooted and now having SuperSU stuck on my phone is causing the problem (I've never bothered with rooting and the like for years so while I know about it, I do not know the ins and outs of rooting and it's consequences).
My question is: Does anyone else have this problem or is it likely to be a fault with the phone?
Try to clear market data and or cache.
Is it for paid apps ? You have access in your country ?
Sometime I have market error with a yellow triangle in notif bar but it is always because of network connections/ wifi. Once reconnected it is ok.
Thanks for the reply.
I've tried clearing cache and data, I've even factory reset the phone but still no good. It is for all apps, paid and free. The network connection seems to be solid (or at least it would be an awful coincidence if every time for 100+ app installs when I try to install from the pc the network happens to be down, but when I then go straight to the phone and install from there the network is back up again).
Just a question, you want to install app via your comp on your phone when it's pluged to USB cable?
Personally i use google Chrome to Phone for sending immediatly links to my phone, that works also with google app link, that will automatically launch the google store on the app you selected before sending the link.
Also rooting your phone is really necessary? Many people root their phone for doing nothing really necessary...
Nope I don't want to do this while my phone is plugged in to the computer, the phone is in my pocket while I am trying to use the Google app store on my computer to install dozens of apps to the phone.
I know rooting the phone isn't necessary, but, as I explain, the phone was already rooted and I have no need of root. Whether the phone is or isn't rooted I don't mind either way, I was just mentioning the root info in case that is a clue as to why I am having this problem.
No offense intended (really!) but I'm not concerned with how you personally use Chrome to install apps to your phone. I am explaining a problem I have with my phone and wondering if it is a known issue that other people have or whether it is a fault with my phone. I have a workaround that I can use as I explained in the first post, but I am less concerned with what the problem is and more concerned with why the problem is there in the first place (as it may be mean I'm going to run into more problems in the future).
Anywho I can only assume it isn't a common problem, so I'll investigate further.
Cheers

Hello everyone sorry if I am posting this when there is an answer somewhere already on the forums. I have searched multiple times with no straight forward answer but that doesn't mean there isn't an answer that I overlooked.
I am new to the forum as well as Android. I recently purchased a Samsung Captivate through AT&T. I have been reading up on rooting the device and majorly concidering it to get the AT&T Bloatware off. Of the many, many, sites I have read on up I found One Click Root for Samsung Captivate through this forum, which hopefully will work properly, I do not see why it wouldn't.
This brings me to my first question, if I root my device, install Titanium Backup and uninstall the bloatware, can I then uninstall Titanium Backup and unroot my device? Or must I leave Titanium Backup installed for the "Backup" purposes?
My second question is if I root my device and uninstall bloatware ONLY, will I receive and be able to download OTA updates that become avaliable? ( I am aware I will lose root if installed, just currious as to if it will even let me update. )
My only reason for rooting is to get rid of the bloatware, I am hoping I can remove the bloatware and then unroot because I do not have any use for being rooted once they are removed.
I do not plan on flashing any custom ROM, I am leaving the stock ROM just removing the applications and touching nothing else. I know I have read that if I change from the ROM I will not be able to receive OTAUs...
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance for the help. I am very good with computers and a certified ARES tech, know HTML. Just trying to grasp this whole Android thing comming from a iPhone (SO FAR SO GOOD) ... I don't think I'm too lost... yet.
If all you want to do is get rid of the bloatware, download LauncherPro and hide the icons. Much easier and the phone is much better with LP.
One Click Root works great. I've used it many times without issue.
I have used Titanium Backup to remove unwanted apps. Personally I leave it installed, and use to it to backup all of my apps, and save them to my External SD.
Personally I would leave the root in place, and also consider Sideloading it. It'll allow you to install "unapproved" apps.
I do not know how this might affect your ability to receive OTA. I think I remember hearing something around the time of the JH7 OTA release. I did some looking around and couldn't find it
Thanks for the help. I decided to put my worry aside as far as OTA updates go and go ahead and root the phone and remove bloatware.
I used one click root (which worked perfect) to root the device, downloaded Titanium Backup, and removed all the AT&T junk, and a couple things from Samsung I had no use for. Acually I kinda took my phones life in my own hands and uninstalled more than the lists I have found said to, but I figured if worst come to worst and it bricked I could just return it to Wal-Mart's AT&T kiosk since I was still on my thirty day guarantee. (No ma'am, I have NO IDEA what happened. )
Anyways the phone functioned fine so apparently I didn't do anything I shouldn't have. I only ran in to one problem and that was when I unrooted using the One Click (wanted to try it and see if it worked as good as the root) my phone came back on and was doing crazy stuff... locking out of nowhere, slow, didn't have the notification bar, nor any network connectivity after many reboots. Still in the same mindset that I could just make a trip to Wal-Mart, I did a factory reset. Phone came up and everything is perfect, bloatware is still gone and it took away my root apps which I was probubly going to end up doing anyways.
From what I finally found after a couple hours searching online is that theres a chance I won't be able to OTA update, however I shouldn't have a problem using Kies Mini to update instead of the OTA. Apparently AT&T's servers are getting overwelmed and people are having connection problems... even non rooted users.
We will see I guess when Froyo is (finally) released on AT&T.
Thanks again for the help!
I have a weird problem with my AT&T galaxy tab. For the past couple of days, each time I launch the Market, my 3G connection is killed and I can no longer access the network, and of course I cannot access the market. As soon as I kill the market app, my 3G connection comes back.
I cleared the data and cache of the market app, did not solve the issue. When I uninstall the updates of the market app (reverting to the original ugly market app), everything works fine, but it then automatically updates itself and the problem comes back. I assume this is a problem with the market app itself and not my device (hopefully).
Has anybody else experienced this issue and found a fix?
I am running stock ROM with third party apps installed enables (done it with superoneclick: root, enable third party apps, unroot).
I have the amazon app store installed, so I can still buy new apps, but I would like to be able to get updates for the apps I have purchased from the market.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
What modem are you using? Does the problem happen when you are using wifi? I think the JMF modem that is available for overcome rom is weak and I get many dropped connections and slow data speeds.
I am using the stock ROM and stock modem, I have never flashed a ROM. It only happens with the Market App.
Same issue for me. I have a rooted stock rom.
I have the same issue. Also stock rom and rooted. When WIFI is on (and connected) the market works fine.
I have been beating my head against this since I bought one. I am rooted using....I think I used Super One Click......stock everything else with non-market apps enabled. I originally thought that Root had broken it; however, if I unrooted, reset to factory, I still had the issue.
After many hours at the ATT store and on the phone (and swapping the device once and SIM card twice) I had an epiphany. a Factory Reset does NOT wipe the Internal SD like I thought it did. It leaves /mnt/sdcard/ intact. So, just for kicks, I began looking at my folders here. I MAY have discovered something. Market started working after I restored this folder to it's factory content (deleted any folders having to do with Apps in general).
I can typically hold power, deactivate Data connection, wait a few seconds, re-enable, and I get 3g back (at least for browser and other apps, Market still fails).
I have PSX4Droid installed (PSX Emulator if you don't know). There is a folder here named /.psx4droid, so I renamed it to /psx4droid (If I remember correctly, doesn't the "." hide the folder......too long since Linux class). I then deactivated/reactivated my data, and the Market started working properly.
I am not sure if it has to do SPECIFICALLY with psx4droid or just the "Hidden" folder in general, but now my Market works. I have 2 more folders in this location (/.downloadTemp and /.FileExpert) that may/may not cause any problems. I will post my findings.
.....Okay, so I'm going to type what I write now....Market just failed. Now I'm renaming /.FileExpert....Let's see what happens......
Damn. Still fails. But I'm tellin' ya. There is something in this folder causing it.
Or maybe some app is causing it to break......I have Amazon App store installed, what about you guys?
I do have Amazon App installed.
Anybody with an AT&T Tab not having the issue?
Same issue here. I had the Amazon Appstore installed but uninstalled it probably a week afterwards. Rooted running stock, everytime I go into the market it crashes the 3g. I found a folder in sdcard/android/data that had a bunch of appstore files in it. I deleted that and still having the same issue. I have removed all 3rd party apps so I have no idea what is triggering this. Please help.
P.S. I can access the market on WiFi
This also happens to be sometimes, if you tap wifi on then off again your 3g should come back and work fine.
swyped from a galaxy far far away...
Unfortunately what you proposed did not work. The market is killing the network connection each and every time. The network connection only comes back when the market app is not active anymore.
Since everything works fine when the market upgrades are uninstalled, I really think it is a bug in the newer version of market. Hopefully, the next update will fix this.
Maybe when Gingerbread is out!
I'm thinking this has more to do with us having installed amazon appstore before it was supposed to be. Somebody is mad at us
Has anyone made any progress on this situation?

I really wish I would have made more progress. After all the trouble I had with the device with this issue, I was seriously monitoring the apps I installed and then testing the Market. I gave up after a while since I am on Wifi 90% of the time and hardly ever do I access the Market while driving. I still have a feeling that something in /mnt/sdcard is causing it. Like I had mentioned, I could wipe back to factory and the problem was still there. I seem to remember that it only started working proper after I had cleared this location of crap. I would think that a Market update would see a larger group of affected tabs than just a handful of us. This doesn't seem to be a widespread issue.
That being said......I have decided to move on to Gingerbread. Maybe that'll fix it
Hey guys, try this. Worked for me and my Data problems with Gingerbread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13751694&postcount=6
Basically create a new APN inside Settings -> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names. Only set the APN to "Broadband," save it (Menu button) and select the radio button for it. Instantly fixed my data issues.
Thank for the tip. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I am running stock 2.2 and waiting for the official 2.3 update from AT&T.
Good Luck. I thought about waiting for the official.....but I also have a Captivate. We didn't get 2.2 until MONTHS after the rest of the world (I think it was like 5 or 6 months later). I didn't want to wait that long again.

Could you please report if the problem fixed with Gingerbread ?
At first I didn't have ANY cellular data until I created a new APN mentioned in the tagged thread (APN Broadband). Now I have no issues with Market. I wish I could trust AT&T to release Gingerbread in a timely fashion, but I know better. So instead, I flashed Overcome.
P.S. I really can't enough of the CRT lock animation......damn I'm such a geek....
Several months ago I installed CM10 on my Nook HD+ and for the most part everything runs perfectly.
However in mid March I installed a Cyanogen update and very soon after I noticed many of my apps (all downloaded from Amazons app of the day) would not run, giving me the following error:
Internal Service Error: An internal error occurred. This can be caused by a lack of network connectivity, please make sure you have a good network connection.
At the time, I Googled and tried the suggestions I found (although the suggestions were all for other devices such as Kindle Fire). I checked the time and date were correct, deregistered and reregistered my device and tried rebooting.
And that seemed to fix the issue, although I concede I havent been using the Nook much lately.
Tonight I went to use my Nook to play a few games and the problem is back and its even worse now. I now cannot play any of my games, even ones I have played numerous times before without any wifi turned on. We dont have wifi at home, I tether my phone when I want to use the internet on my Nook. I do know there are some games that require internet access, however the vast majority of mine dont, which I know for a fact as I've played them so often with no internet.
So, why all of a sudden, does everything need wifi? How can I fix this? Is it just coincidence the problem occurred immediately after a system update, and if it could be the update that caused it, how can I find out which update it was and can it be uninstalled?
The instances of this I found mentioned online mainly referred to it happening to just one app, and some people found uninstalling and reinstalling the app fixed the issue. But I have close to 200 apps all doing this.
Since I mainly use the Nook for playing these games, its useless to me as it is now and if I cant fix this issue I wont have any choice but to remove the Mod and return it to stock software, which I really dont want to have to do.
Please can someone help me with this, in basic, non-technical language please?
Thank you.
Hello?
Please, does anyone have any input on this problem? Have I asked in the wrong forum?
I asked about this in another forum and it was suggested that maybe the update made my Nook appear like a new device to Amazon and that the error message is the games wanting to confirm with Amazon that the license to run the game was correct (or something along those lines).
I have just tried uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of games and now they work so it would appear that suggestion is exactly what has happened. So I guess I now have to uninstall and redownload all those 200+ apps and games, which is going to be a nightmare with no internet at home.
And if updates cause the device to appear different, then how do I know this wont keep happening with future updates? I am not going to keep reinstalling every thing, so do I just turn updates off instead? That doesnt seem like a very wise idea.
I would really appreciate some help with this please, or even just to be pointed in the right direction if I should be asking elsewhere.
Thank you.
Well I guess no one has any advise or help of any kind to offer. I will post this update in case anyone else has the same issue.
I ended up having to uninstall and redownload every one of my apps, and now they all work fine again, so I can only assume the suggestion I received on a different forum that the update made my device appear as a new device, meaning the internet was needed for the apps to check licenses with Amazon was correct.
With this in mind, I would now never recommend the Cyanogen mod to any one else. Whats the point if updates are going to screw everything like this? I have now turned off the updates, which I would normally never do. When my Nook gets to the stage of having to have updates I will uninstall Cyanogen and just go back to using a stock Nook.
Its a shame as I have been very happy with it up until all this happened but since there is no back up or support from anyone when things go wrong, its simply not worth the hassle.

I found some useful thoughts here:
http://www.amazon.com/forum/amazon ...Forum=Fx9N1C8PP4X4PK&cdThread=Tx3G1ZP319CCR5S
So I got a new toy. A Samsung Gear Live. I've had it for a week and so far really like it. The biggest issue I seem to be having is the companion apps. I don't know why, but they refuse to work. Everytime I try to use one I get an error message to the tune of, " not connected to a device with this application" or "lost connection to phone". This is clearly untrue. I can see that I'm still connected and even the device itself acknowledges it. I just can't figure it out.
I have attempted a power cycle, using the restart function, a hard reboot, even reseting it back to factory. I rebooted my phone, Uninstalled and reinstalled the apps on the phone, and still no luck. I'm at a loss. Anyone who knows what to do on this front would be very welcome.
What are companion apps?
Sent from my SM-N910T3 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Companion apps, are the apps that are activated on your smart watch. Like the dominoes easy order app, or a bank app that let's you check your balances without pulling out your phone.
I did find my problem however. It seems that my gear live was shipped with a dev kit. I had to completely reflash it to stock software to get it to run correctly.
How did you figure out it was a dev kit? Im having similar problems. Thanks.
Fixed the problem resetting the watch and reinstalling the Android wear app. However now in the storange manager its showing three of several apps. How to fix please?
You can find if it has a Dev kit under the settings. Under build I believe. It should be a set of numbers with "dev" somewhere in it. If that's there, it's gonna hold up your regular use of the watch. It caused the apps not to work right or not to show up, etc. I'll see if I can find the link I used before for how I reset the watch to stock firmware.
I was told there was a Note 5 at work last week and told no one can use it at is broken. Up for the challenge I thought I could root it, custom rom etc etc and all would be good.
Unfortunately I think this phone may be unusable however if anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to try.
The phone was previously used by an employee who left over a year ago, went overseas and is not contactable. This same person set up the phone with their google account.
It looks like a factory reset was done to try access the phone however this presents the problem that now the phone states "this device was reset. To continue sign in with a Google account the was previously used on the account."
This means I cannot get into settings, developer mode, usb debugging. Without this I cannot root the phone as I keep getting a fail on Oden when I try load cf root. Also cannot load TWRP through Oden.
I have tried reloading the latest samsung firmware but even with this I am still asked to Verify the account before proceeding.
I've tried a bunch of hacks from various Youtube videos but it looks like Google has patched all the previous solutions.
Pretty much have hit a wall. Anyone with any suggestions (if possible) greatly appreciated.
