I believe that was an OTA and no RUU was released - but, look at the second post on this (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=114440&page_no=145) page.. user has posted a stock/unrooted backup image that you should be able to restore, and has also posted the stock recovery you'll need as well.

Thanks for your help but I fully rooted the phone and installed the Android Revolution ROM. Much better than stock. My only concern is when trying to use apps that do not work on rooted apps. Have hide my root on my phone and Transformer Prime and am not sure if it works. Does anyone have any other root hiding app suggestions?

Removing Root from HTC One on O2 UK Carrier

Hi,
I don't think this is in the right place but i am unable to post under the developers area for assistance and everyone has told me this is the best place to get some help.
I am looking to get rid of my root for my HTC One on an O2 network and I think i need to get the boot loader locked which i can do then run a RUU file that matches my phone. The RUU's i have run seem to be the wrong ones and i am at a loss to which one i should be using, when i go through the steps it says that my version is 1.27.206.1 does this mean i need to find the version that is O2 and 1.27.206.1 for it to work?
I have also tried an OTA but this just stops at the boot loader screen and i think this is because some of the stock apps are wipe. Any help would be much appreciated.

You do need that RUU but it isnt available yet.

Thanks for the very quick response, ok that narrows it down quite a bit, would you happen to know which RUU i would be looking for when it does come out? will it be a specific O2 RUU for the version 1.27.206.1? Also where would i check for it once its released?
Is their anyway around the OTA update to remove the Root atm?

You would need an ruu that has the same software or newer than yours. The key bit would be the .206 section. There is an RUU thread here. You could flash one of the stock nandroid backups in the RUU thread. Add the apps back. There is a .zip somewhere then remove the stock recovery and flash the ota.

I would but I'm on my phone using tapatalk so I can't really at the moment sorry. The ruu thread is on this part of the forum though. And the other bit should be in the dev section.
Ok, no worries, i have downloaded the UK Nandroid rom and flashed it to my device but i still have everything on my phone like games that i had before flashing it which is a little odd.
i have also found the stock apps from a post on here like you said and have them all installed on the phone. Could someone explain the next steps please,
why dont you just use the unroot in the superuser apps? SuperSU has the option.

Hi, i have tried this option but when the phone reboots the application is back and the bootloader is still showing as Tampered.

hboot 1.54 can't boot to recovery.img

Hi,
I had my phone replace the camera because of the purple-tint problem, HTC upgraded my phone to HBoot 1.54 and android 4.2.2 without informing me . Anyway.
After receiving my phone, I unlocked my phone again by the official method, then I wanted to make a clean backup of my rom, so I tried to boot my phone to third party recovery image by "fastboot boot some_CWM.img", my phone just hung there. I was frustrated, if I flash the CWM.img to the phone, would I brick my phone? Before the upgrade, my phone could be booted in the same CWM image file, can I use third party CWM after upgrade my HBoot to 1.54?
Any idea? please
Since you have HBOOT 1.54, you cannot boot into recovery using fastboot anymore, you have to flash the recovery and then backup the ROM.
You flash the recovery by "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
I also recommend TWRP, its so much easier to use and if you cant find it ill attach it here if you want!
EDIT: **** This will replace your stock recovery by CWM or TWRP ****
HTC One 1.54 bootloader, flash recovery.
Hey guys, new member, and thanks for the extensive information provided on the forum!
I have a related question to what the OP posted...possibly pertinent info about the phone itself:
I have an HTC One with 1.54 bootloader, it used to be a 4.1.2 with 1.44 bootloader AT&T device, which I rooted, S-OFF, CWM etc. I then realized I couldn't take OTA updates and was stuck either on 4.1.2 or a custom ROM, so I downloaded a 4.4 stock google edition RUU and installed it. Everything is good so far, but I cannot do a full backup anymore because it has the stock recovery.
My question is, can I just flash the CWM recovery, backup the phone, and flash back the stock recovery? My goal is to get best of both worlds, get OTA updates from google as well as do a full back-up of my phone.
Please advise, and thanks in advance for your input!
PS: Since the 4.4 RUU update, my phone still says "unlocked" and "S-OFF", if that matters at all.

Sure you can but the stock recovery is only needed for OTA and they don't come that often.
and your phone has to be stock with stock recovery (no apps removed).
most people just ruu back to stock for the ota... not run custom recovery just long enough to backup.
Thanks for the quick response! I think what you're saying makes sense, though I don't have a stock AT&T RUU. I'm guessing I can download it with similar firmware so I can switch as needed. Thanks again!

here's all the ruu's you should ever need
http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads
Awesome, thanks again!
I looked around the site before posting this, didn't find anything specific. I have a Nandroid backup of the stock phone before I started messing with it. If I do a recovery of that image using CWM, is it the same as downloading and flashing one of the stock RUUs? I'm guessing not, but would like to know for sure. Is the difference that RUUs have firmware, radio etc, while a Nandroid backup is of the OS and SD card?

well for one thing when you unlock the booloader it deletes some system files when it wipes the phone.. so your stock backup is already flawed (not true stock). and like i said to take OTA you must have a complete Stock phone. the only real Stock phone comes from RUU. I hope this clears it up for you. And no your sdcard is not backed up in the Nandroid

Hi guys, sorry in advance for digging up an old thread!
I have an AT&T HTC One, installed the Google Edition 4.4.2 with this group's help, rooted etc.
I received an OTA update from google today (4.4.3), and while I tried installing it, it crashes with a "SET_METADATA_RECURSIVE" something failed etc. I tried it with both the recovery.img that I have from the Google Edition ROM as well as the CWM recovery.
I've searched for stuff in the forum and the only thing I found is that I may need the latest version of clockworkmod, but I think I already do...I have 6.0.4.3, which is the HTC One AT&T one. Also, since I installed the Google Edition ROM, I haven't removed or uninstalled any system apps..so my phone is pretty stock as far as Google is concerned.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

I figured it out...I had to get the recovery.img from the 4.4.2 RUU, fastboot flash the bugger into my phone (CWK didn't work), and I was able to download and install the 4.4.3 with no issues. Pissed away a few hrs trying different things, hopefully this update is worth it!!!

Installed Nandroid BM___001, now the touch screen wont work

I am trying to return to stock to carrier unlock the phone. On the roms i have tried it gives an error while entering the code. After some research, i have discovered that i have to go back to stock to unlock. I was previously on 4.3 GPe and have downloaded and installed the stock bell nandroid. Now the touch screen doesn't work. This i figure is because of the touchscreen drivers that i updated but i can't roll back. I don't know where to get them from and have searched high and low. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks

you need to downgrade your firmware, and you can only do that if you're S-Off. Are you S-Off?
EDIT: on second thought, I think just a firmware flash won't help you out; you may need to run a full RUU to be able to downgrade the touch drivers
Will applying the RUU cause an S-OFF device to revert back to S-ON?

Nope, only way to go back s-on if you personally do it with fastboot.
EDIT nvm the "(or someone overwrites the partition with a dd command)", that's something normal users would never mess with anyway, only devs working with system dumps.

Yes. S-off. I'll go back to super cid and run an older ruu to see if that works and report back.

check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2463387
what's your firmware version? you don't need to have 100% stock recovery, just "close enough" for OTAs to work, in case it's not very close, it may not reboot by itself during installation, and you'll have to manually reboot the phone for installation to continue.

cool, just remember, do NOT even attempt to go s-on on that version, after a few reboots, it will come up with "tamper detected - rebooting", and the TAMPERED will be back

Firmware update problems after rooting

Hey , im new to rooting and the forums so sorry if somethings are not properly explained.
I recently managed to root my uk variant m7 unlocked to any service with the latest twrp recovery.
I have recently found the venom rom which i would like to install to futher customize my rooted device, but i need to upgrade my android to 5.0.2 and i am currently on 4.2.2.
in the toolbar it says 'system update avaliable' and after installing it says 'system update ready' and im guessing this will bring me to 5.0.2 firmware. after clicking on it it reboots my phone and for some reason enters the recovery. from this point i do not know what to do.
so to summarise, i need to upgrade my m7 from 4.2.2 to 5.0.2 nut when i do it enters my twrp recovery and i do not know what to do
system details:
HTC One M7 UK variant unlocked to any service
rooted with SuperSU
Stock rom (4.2.2)
Stock kernel
Thanks

You can't update your phone in its current status. You need stock recovery installed, unmodified /system files and /data/preload which is deleted during the htcdev bootloader unlock process. You'll probably need to use a RUU or something else.

Unfortunately, this is not really relevant info, post the output of "fastboot getvar all" command, remove your IMEI # before posting.
so i have to unroot my phone
great this is going to take a while :/

A factory reset only wipes user data. Root files are stored in /system partition which is not affected by a factory reset so short answer no, like I said you'll probably need a RUU or something else (stock odex rom/nandroid backup/guru reset rom) to reset your phone back to stock. Post the output of "fastboot getvar all"

Its possible to download the update elsewhere and install it through twrp recovery?
If yes, where i can find these updates in zip form?
If not, what's the simple option to install the update?

If your phone is S-off, you can download the Ota zip files and install them incrementally (can't skip a version) using stock recovery. That doesn't change the fact that all files in /system and /data/preload must be unmodified.
Imo, the simplest way to update if your phone isn't stock is with a RUU. If your phone is stock, reflash stock recovery and update with Ota, if it's stock and soff you can update with Ota zip files if you can find all the ones you need.
