Google Offline Music Storage Folder - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I downloaded 4-5 music files from play.google.com/music.
They seem to be somewhere in the phone but not on the SD card.
I looked through all the folders I could see, but could not find any music (mp3?) files.
Questions: where are those off-line music files stored?
TIA

/Android/data/com.google.android.music/cache/music
Or
/Android/data/com.google.android.music/files/music
I believe you'll have to be rooted and have a way to view hidden files
If that's not it check this post out, it may lead you to it

You must be right.
I can see the folders but they show up as empty as I do not have root access.
Can I delete those folders to get rid of the music or do I have to have root access for that?

[Q] Double Image in Gallery

Hi there..
I update my SGS to Froyo last 2 days.. and yesterday I apply Voodoo 5 on it.
But today I just noticed that any images from my external SD will appear double in gallery.. dunno when it started to happen.. is there any way to fix this?
thanks
Im my case was 5 for each original, and with a lot of problems to delete the "non-real" ones...
thats hurt.. anyone can help here?
Yup! Just go to Application Manager, then easily clear cache for Media Storage! Ta-Da! No more duplicate images!
(It made my ringtones reset, but I could live with it!)

If you have Root Explorer
GO into /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.media
and delete both the internal and external files
Reboot

Great hint, just wondering though if there is any way to have an app or script run at boot-up to do this for you, so people don't have to do it manually every time their gallery has a fit?

[AUDIO] Ringtones, Notifications, and Alarms

Here is a collection of alarms, notifications, and ringtones collected from stock and various roms. This is a CWM flashable zip. If you enjoy this, remember to thank the devs here. I just made a collection from their work. If anyone has other audio from other devices they want added just let me know and I'll recompile.
List:
Captivate Stock
Atrix Stock
Armani Stock
Andromeda
Cognition
Continuum
Dragon
Phoenix
Serendipity
Twingerbread
Talking Notifications
and others I may have forgotten.
Now converted to Edify! These are flashable from the newer CWM.

I don't have the audio, but it would be beyond awesome to have the audio from the original Nokia 5100 :]
Anyone know of a site that has audio from old phones?

I found an online MIDI converter, converted them to wav, and then over to ogg. I've attached a CWM flashable zip to this post with the 5100 ringers. I can't stress enough about doing a backup before you apply this as I haven't tested it yet.

For those that don't want to CWM flash you can extract the files and place them manually.

Yep, that is also possible for those who don't want to let it automatically place the files for them or who want to pick and choose the tones they want.
I updated the original post with my corrected Audio file (removed duplicates) and included a link to download the stock Captivate tones as well.
Enjoy!
Great package! I flashed without any issues, but I am seeing duplicates of some of the files. If I look in the directory where they are with Astro, I am only seeing single copies of some of the files.
Any ideas? How can I clean this up?
Thanks for posting these BTW!!

Try another reboot. If that doesn't work then go into settings --> applications --> manage applications --> all --> media container. Force a stop and clear data. Reboot. That should force another fresh media scan with no cached data.
What duplicates were you seeing? That way I can along double check my source files.

A couple of questions... if we don't want all of them, can we just delete the unwanted ones out of the zip before flashing?
Also, if we should want to just direct load them onto the phone (assume that is possible?), where should they be put?
Related to direct loading, there seems to be beaucoup file manager apps; anybody tried a bunch and find a clear winner?

1. If you delete the ones you don't want then it won't be flashable through CWM
2. You can direct load them to /system/media/audio/ and then notifications or ringtones or alarms
3. I use root explorer

You can also make a dir on your SD card internal or ext like this.
/media/audio/notifications or ringtones or alarms
and they will be seen and you can set them as ringtone/notification/alarms just like you can with the build in system ones

I tried what you suggested and I'm still seeing the dupes. As a data point, I was using whatever came stock with Cog 4.0 (clean flash from stock) and Cog 4.2.2 (upgrade over top of 4.0). Not sure if there were dupes before, but confident there were not.
Here is a list of the dupes:
AT&T Tone
ATT Tone (this one is lower volume .... going to try and delete via Astro)
Bird Loop
Bollywood
Calypso Steel
Classic Bell
Digital Phone
The floor
Gutta tone
Luminescence
Noisy one (Noisey one .... spelling difference, but same tone)
Popple Tone
Pure Tone
Samsung Tune
Single Tone
Winter
As I said before, I only see one file in the list when I look in the directory with Astro.
Let me know if there is anything else you need!!
Thanks for looking at this as well!
--Matt
P.S. -- I also just noticed that there are dupes for the notification tones now as well. I'll reply back here with a list in a little bit.

How large is the zip file you downloaded? I think you might have one of the older ones.

The file that I downloaded is 27.49mb (28,823,899 bytes). Is that an older one?

Nope. That's the most current one. I'll do a little more research and see if I can find out why you're getting duplicates.
Did you run the CWM version or did you extract them to a folder on your sd card?
Also try deleting the data/cache from the media storage and then another reboot.

I ran the CWM version. I tried the deleting data/cache again and had the same result (no change).

Make sure you're doing both media storage and media container then followed by a reboot

You also may want to check for an extra media/audio folder structure

If you do this, will the media player see them as "music" and include them in the "playable things" inside the media player app?

I notice my Ringtones created by Ringdroid do show up and they are in a folder like that.
You can exclude media by directory by adding a file to that directory called .nomedia

[Q] Cannot exclude folders from Album app

Hello,
Can anybody tell me how i can exclude some folders which contain images from showing up in my Album ?
i found a few replies regarding this in other forums but none of them worked and I tried asking in talk.sonymobile.com but it was useless.
I tried the .nomedia file creation method, Quickpic method and adding dot to the folder name method.
I tried all those methods to prevent the pics that i get via whatsapp from not being shown in my album. As you may know the pics that we download via whatsapp gets stored inside "Whatsapp images" folder.
I tried to put a blank .nomedia file into the folders and then cleared cache and data of both Album app and Media storage. Then after doing all that i rebooted my phone. I can still see the pictures in there in my Album app once i add a new pic into the folder.
Am running .253
i would really appreciate it if anybody could help me out
I am 100% positive that there are many people who would love to have a solution for this.
If you need anymore info then do please let me know.

the .nomedia way worked for me. but the trick is cleaning data and cache of the media server/media storage (don't know the exact name at the moment) in settings->apps, and then restarting the phone.
after a restart, album will be empty and start rescanning your storage. when finished, you'll see that there won't be the .nomedia folders included anymore.

[Q] i lost some hidden files from phone storage

ok so I have been trying and trying for days to pull up some files that i had hidden through an app that turned all my .jpegs into #jpegs on my phones internal memory but unfortunately the entire folder has been deleted and because i had hidden the files the normal programs to pull deleted files wont work my question is this. Does anyone know of a decent way to try and recover these files? no I'm not looking to get back deleted porn I'm trying to recover hidden screen shots I took.
running at&t note 3 on 4.4.2

Hidden files somewhere...

I have a Note 9 Exynos dual sim, stock Android 9.
I used a new video software and recorded something important that saves into folder /storage/emulated/150/video
I can not find this file anywhere, possibly because I am not rooted? The adb pull command doesn't work either.
I can see and play the file from the apps internal gallery but that is it....I can't upload to onedrive or transfer to PC.
What needs to be done to get this file from my phone to PC?
Thank you for your help.

go into your file manager and move it to another folder or your external SD card. If you can move it internally, you should be able to view it from your PC and therefore transfer it. If you cant move it internally (cant imagine why you wouldnt be able to) then youre hosed. But that sounds like a unicorn situation.
Thanks but I cannot see it in any file manager I have checked so far. I only see it in the Apps own gallery...

Is the app a secret too?
It's called Quick Video Recorder. It's great for one button instant record function... But it isn't great if you want your videos off your phone it seems ?
Can I root safely without losing my data? From what I've read online rooting removes knox encryption and Samsung Pay and this can't be reversed... Is that correct?
SOLVED!
I solved this by putting the file manager app into the secure folder where the app is located. Then I could navigate to it. Makes sense really.
