Phone powers off when I connect charger! - Moto X Q&A

Well, I woke up this morning and my Moto X had 1% battery left. (Yeah, I know I should charge it at night and use in the morning, but sometimes you just fall sleep while using your phone, you know). I ran to put it to charge but I couldn't make it in time. So I ran out of charge and then connected the charger.
Everything was ok, but I was late for work so I took it off from charging at 50% battery.
Late in the night, I put it to charge again with 20% battery. And then my phone died! it wouldn't turn on. So I disconnected the charger and try to wake my phone and it did turn on. But now everytime I connect the charge the phone turns off! I checked out if the battery was actually charging and at least I'm ok about it. It's charging. But I can use it until I disconnect the charger.
Anyone has been through it? Any solutions? Or I just need to wait till it get 100% charge?

Correct way to charge your phone?

I was just wondering what the correct way to charge your phone is. I have an AT&T tilt. When the battery would get to like 3% I would just turn it off and then plug in my AC wall charger that came with it and leave it until it was fully charged. But I want to leave my phone on all the time so I dont miss calls, So when I leave it on while charging the phone gets pretty warm and the screen turns on by itself randomly. And when i plugged it in the other night before i went to bed (phone was still on whole night) in the morning I went to wake it up and it wouldnt. When i slid the keyboard out it lit up and everything so it was definitely on, but the screen wouldnt come on no matter what I did. Am i not suppose to be charging it while the phone is still on or leaving it plugged in for a long time after the battery has reached its full charge using the AC wall charger that came with it. Should I instead by one of those cradle chargers cuz dont they have a thing where once your battery is full, it will stop charging it? Any feedback would be really appreciated. Thank you.
hmm i dont really know bout u
but i've really never turned off my phone....the tytnII or any of my previous phones i would just leave it on day and nite and i go to bed i charge it or any time when i'm home if its low on battery
kinda wild how many people torture their batts on acount of that old myth

How are you charging it? Supplied wall charger or USB port?
The supplied wall charger will turn it on initially and it should then turn back to standby as set by your power settings. Make sure you don't have it set to ramain on when on external power.
USB charge connection to PC or laptop will keep polling the phone if Activesync is enabled and turn it on continuosly.
Some external chargers, such as the ones for the previous TyTyn (not TyTynII) required two pins connected to enable charging and if you are using one of those the TyTynII thinks a data connection is being made and randomly powers up.
It's been my experience to keep the battery on a charger whenever possible. Those batteries "like" to be topped off. I have killed a couple of batteries by running them down all the way and trying to bring them back to life. Li Ion batteries are not like NiCads
When I'm driving, it's plugged in. At home, it's on my desk charging. While I sleep, it's charging on my night stand.
I found charging when every possible, and keeping it topped off as much as possible will enable the battery to last longer for those times you can't get to a charger. This has been the case for all the HTC phones I've used.

Weird charging

So I've noticed my battery not always charging to 100%. And almost always when I leave it hooked up to the charger over night, it's only at 97-95%. So to get it to 100% I have to plug it out for a while and back in, and it very slowly charges to 100%. Why does this happen?

[Q] phone won't turn on

Hi, I need urgent help.
After running my battery down to less than 5% at a friend's house, I turned my phone off, took out the dried battery and plugged a full charged one in. However I cannot get it to turn on again.
If I plug it in (with the fully charged battery), it might either flash a battery icon on the screen then turns off. Or it could start normally (shows the battery is fully charged, but doesn't recognize it is plugged in). But as soon as I unplug the cable, the phone dies.
did anyone experience this problem before? Is this a hardware problem?
thanks

Sony z1 charge stop at 5%.

Problem started yesterday, phone charge till 5% and than stop,it still says charging but its not.
try to get some battery apps to fix it and try a new cable...
Battery Fix
This is an issue with battery calibration (or so I assume).
What you will need to do is:
Leave the phone for at least 36 hours. Make sure that you keep the phone turned on for as long as possible.
Once you have left it for 36 hours, connect the charger and charge for a whole 10 hours.
Then, turn on the phone and it will possibly show that the battery is at 100%. If not, you need to install an app called CurrentWidget: Battery Monitor. It is available here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manor.currentwidget
This app will tell you the voltage/current stored in the battery. If the mAh of the battery is 3000 mAh when left charging for 10 hours, then you will need to do this:
Fully charge the battery with the phone for 5 hours and when the phone is fully charged, unplug the charger and turn it off.
When your phone is off, plug it into the charger and let it charge to 100% again. The green LED light will indicate when this is done.
Next unplug the charger, turn on your phone and set the option to ensure that your screen doesn’t turn off, if you have this option. Then reconnect to the charger and wait for it to charge again to 100%.
Once loaded to 100%, unplug the charger again and do not load until the smartphone turns itself off after reaching a 0% battery level. Once off, fully charge it again and it should work properly. The screen setting can put back to normal again (meaning turn off after a certain amount of time).
Hope this helped!

Battery Charging only to 99%

Running stock 5.1.1 on my 64gb. Was curious as when charging, it will say its charged and battery indicator only showing 99%. Does anyone else have this issue? Noob question here just never really noticed this till today
Unplug it from charger, wait a few moments. Then plug into charger. It should reach 100%.
If that doesn't work, try turning the device completely off, plug that sucker in and let it charge up.
