[Q] Atrix HD: T-Mobile SIM Not Allowed On Network [SOLVED] - Motorola Atrix HD

I'm pulling my hair out trying to get my Atrix HD to recognize a new T-Mobile SIM card. Here's where I've been and where I'm at now:
- Purchased AT&T Atrix HD MB886 on ebay preloaded with fresh install of CyanogenMod 10.2 Nightly build from 9/28/13
- Inserted new T-Mobile SIM card, not prompted for unlock code... Hmmm
- Attempted to register on T-Mobile network, received error message "Your SIM card doesn't allow a connection to this network"
- Attempted again with second new SIM card, same result (both SIMs work in another phone)
- Upgraded to new CyanogenMod M1 build from 11/2, same result
- Performed TWRP/CWM-based recovery>wipe data/factory reset..., same result, though now it shows on the lock screen "SIM/RUIM IS PERSO LOCKED" (may have been there before, but I don't remember seeing it)
I doubt if the phone is carrier unlocked, so I expected the prompt for an unlock code. In researching I found several people for whom the factory reset worked (even prescribed by Motorola support) to solve this when a new network SIM was used, but sadly not for me. What should I try next? Thanks.

Go back to stock with RSDlite Ok
I imagine you are bootloader unlocked and rooted.
Once on stock insert the new sim card and unlock it inserting the code into the prompt.
Once unlocked the rest is history. Just root the phone again as is very probable that you will loose root.
Then flash the ROM you want and happy testing....

seems good to me too...Search RSDlite as he said...get stock flashed up..and see if it asks for a code or not!!

Thanks. I was afraid I would need to go back to stock. Not that big a deal at this early point with the phone. I'm flashing the image now. It's been going for over an hour. How long should this process take?

An hour seems far too long. It's been a while since I flashed a stock rom but I don't recall it taking more than 10 minutes,

That's what I thought. So I powered off the phone, RSDlite said it failed. Now the phone boots directly to fastboot.on a short press of the power button, with the reason stated as "failed flash". It had hung.on 18/23 flash system "system.img. I'm re-flashing now, but after 60 minutes it's still hanging up at the same place.
I'm following the posted RSD Lite guide from last April very carefully. However it does mention that you can not downgrade from JB to ICS, I'm not doing that, but I am going from 4.2.2 (Cyanogen 10.2) to the 4.1.1 JB stock. Hope that's not a problem. I'll try again at work today with a fresh copy of everything and differnt PC. Thanks for the help.

Make sure you reboot to a new fastboot mode with no errors

All Is Well!
The re-flashing on a different PC worked quickly and correctly. :good: I'm back to stock JB, and was correctly prompted to unlock the phone when I inserted the T-Mobile SIM. It also kept the bootloader unlocked (as the Motorola Warning informed me). Now on to the mods. Thanks to you all for the assistance and advice. You're great!

Good to know help came along and glad to see you back at testing. Lol

Once the bootloader has been unlocked, it cannot be relocked. After you enter the network unlock code, it's permanently unlocked. Sounds to me like the phone is now fully and permanently carrier and bootloader unlocked.

I'm back in business now. AT&T sent me the unlock code in just 12 hours (had my fingers crossed), I unlocked, and T-Mobile was setup automatically. Re-rooted, Reflashed ClockworkMod Recovery, then Cyanogenmod 10.2 M1. It hung in a boot-loop the first time, so I erased all caches and did a data wipe/factory reset, and the second CM flash worked fine. Learned a lot in this whole episode. Thanks.

happy ATRIX !!
Motorola Atrix HD with ProBAM ROM rocks!!

Note re-locked again??!!

Hi, folks...
After a long time, I have a problem with my Note...
Many, many weeks ago I rooted and unlocked my Note, and all was going well... It is just in the recent day, or two that I noticed that suddenly I don't have access to SMS service, calls, or Internet... I thought it was provider's fault, but after inserting other network's SIM card I got the same problem...
I think I might have re-locked itself somehow... I tried again using Galaxy S unlock method, but it changes nothing... is it possible that the phone unrooted itself, or that some update (no ICS, I am not touching that yet! ) messed up something?
Awaiting for your helpful response...

Unlocked means? Unlocked from what? Service provider?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium App
I don't think it may have auto locked.
You are on GB ROM then try
-Factory reset
still dont work, then
-Reflash ROM
This shud work, if still doesn't work then reason to believe it has been locked.
Is your IMEI still showing correctly?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Locked, as in SIM locked.
Will try factory reset in the evening (London) and see what happens...
What do you mean if my IMEI is still showing correctly? How should I know what is wrongly showing of IMEI?
He mean you can see IMEI as digit or just written 'unknown'

I am having the same problem or at least similar. The phone was running fine on both paranoid android and chracks rom. I flashed Crash v7 yesterday, still fine. I decided to go back to Chrack since there was an update. When I did that, safely, the first pop-up I got was "enter network unlock code key" message. I tried the galaxy_s unlock, didn't work. The only backup that I had left was the Crashv7 so I restored that. I got the same message now but galaxy_s unlock DOES work on it. Though, I never had to use it before. I have been at this trying to figure it out for over 8 hours. I believe it has something to do with the new roms and the CSC regions. I have been searching the forums all night and now today I see more people experiencing problems.
I would like to ask a few question here,
Why do we need to change the CSC regions? Other than Kies updating, what difference does it make? I have not found the answer anywhere. I am in the US and have never had to deal with this b.s. before. Web searches I have seen seem to all refer these to Samsung phones. Are they the only company that does this?
My N7000 is from Sweden, NEE(XEE) csc. The rom that is working for me now has a csc of: EUR. I was under the impression that with custom roms it didn't matter what the csc but now I am starting to doubt that.
Any true help out there? Anyone in the states or anywhere else suffering from the same problem? I just think it strange that the phone would re-lock itself but only stay locked on newer roms(any after July 25th) and the unlock app only works on the older roms.
Sorry for this long post.
Edit: When the sim unlock app doesn't work, imei says "unknown"
Edit 2: Looking at other threads it looks like this isn't isolated. I guess there is a problem with the new lrk or whatever it is. It's re-locking units and galaxy_s unlock isn't working.
Yeah, I would also say that some time around middle of this week, this issue became apparent to me... I really didn't use the Note much for the last two weeks, so when I wanted to send an SMS, I thought it was the network playing up (2, or 3 times a year it has problems with service, which is ok with me, since they give a great deal for £10, and I don't need a non-stop connectivity...
I am knackered after today's ride, so I will try and deal with the issue tomorrow...
Oh... I did factory restore and rooting and flashing and the whole procedure of installing busybox and galaxy s unlock app and doing everything I remember doing the first time I unlocked my Note, but unfortunately it keeps saying "Network not available."
Has anybody got any idea why some Note re-SIMlock themselves, even though this method of SIM unlock is supposed to be permanent...
What should I do now? Install other stokk GB firmware, or risk it with some custom ROMs?
I am so sad...

I have found that any custom rom built on the LRI/LRK radios do not work for us users with sim-relock. Best to stay on older roms that aren't built from those sources. Sucks, I know. :crying:

AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW.....
A week and a bit back I had this sim lock problem with the Note, tried stuff in this thread, nothing worked, just fo find it today, when I picked it up to go and try flashing God knows what I'd pick, and turn it on, and IT IS UNLOCKED!!!
I was like a small pig when you give it some corn...
Phew, that is a stone off my heart...
But, how? Is it possible that maybe some Kies update, or some other app update brought about the re-locking of the NOTE?
Still, what made it work now, after so much time and failures?

SimLock Solution For All 4.3 users

Hello to you all
I would like to show all of you 4.3 users the solution "elvisypi" gave me in my private mail and finally i succeed to unlock my device.
So all of us know that sprint or google changed the way HtcOMADM works and we can't use the original system for unlocking our device.
So here is the solution that "elvisypi" gave me :
1. Download the "Stock with goodies 4.3 ROM". Don't flash it wet. (link : http://www.mediafire.com/?9y21d2wlszh6d6c )
2, With an archive viewer like winzip open the ROM.zip and go to /system/app
3. replace 2 apps which I have attached: HtcOMADM_SettingsPlugin_SPCS.apk and HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk. Just drag and drop and replace.
4. Finally flash the ROM.
5. Install the HTCOneSIMUnlockHelper and follow the onscreen instructions.
This system works 100% and this way you can be on 4.3 rom and still have an unlock GSM sprint device.
again , many thanks to "elvisypi" for his great support
sim unlock
Hope it does

I've followed your directions, using the ROM you provided (only difference being flashing the root-fix) and I get vDM errors every time I boot and the app says it's unlocked but my Tmobile SIM gets no signal. Is there any other way i can check if my phone's unlocked?

i was getting annoyed that i couldnt find the files before i found this thread
HTC ONE
I did everthing s-off....flashed to the old radio baseband....tried everything still havent got any signal....who know what a problem?
The only thing is that I've flashed my sprint htc one to the Straight talk. Could it cause a problem?
I am also trying to unlock for T-Mobile. Running into the same issues as others. I was reading a thread where someone was apparently using it on T-Mobile, and PMed them on how exactly they did it but never got a response.
Would love to hear if anyone has it working on T-Mobile
This works. :victory:
Only need to extract, modify and zip again.
Flash with TWRP.
And everything is working normally, no need to reinstall or root, or whatever.
The only problem is that every time I turn on the phone, I get the error message VDM, but it disappears instantly, without stopping or forcing any application.
I live outside the U.S., and continues to operate all perfect with SIMUnlockerHelper. :fingers-crossed:
My device: Sprint Htc one = Unlockboot, TWRP, SIMUnlocker Helper, Root, and the rom on the top of the post. (benny's 4.3 LOL)
it actually works, but if you're using a sense rom I think you only need to download the apps in the op and replacing in system/app
I did this with insertcoin 6.0-4, the unlock helper app didn't recognize the rom, but with the terminal emulator method it worked just fine, tried with a sim and all fine ... then put again the original apks and you don't have to deal with any error popups
Interesting. I was under the impression that our version of this device did not support domestic (only international) GSM bands, hardware wise.
Is this version of sim unlocking different than what you would get if you asked Sprint? (they do allow you to unlock it if you meet certain criteria, like good account standing)

it supports the bands, but all the radios except the original one block domestic gsm carriers. if you still unlock and use that radio, it'll work.
Not working
I tried everything mentioned above, ( Unlock bootloader, S-OFF, Root) also changed the 2 apps in the system for the 4.3 ROM Stock rooted deodexed and then used the SIM unlock helper.
Then Got the same result : No GSM signal, and the SPRINT logo still on the top when I make a call, the same answer comes: " Error number 16 script 3."
I'm using Straight Talk Sim by ATT.

[Q] SIM Unlock doesn't work

So I have an HTC One, it's running the latest Android Rev HD version (4.4). Recently my contract with Tmobile expired and I got a Lycamobile sim, along with an unlock code. I'm used to the network unlocking procedures, but for this HTC One, after I\ve typed in the code it says successful, rebooting, but doesn't reboot, simply freezes itself. After a while, it's responsive again, but it's showing the window for the unlock code again. I've tried putting the unlock code multiple times, each times is successful, rebooting but then again freezes and fails. What am I doing wrong? Is it the ROM ?
Probably. ARHD was based of dev edition. US carrier versions aren't out yet. So you better try with a stock 4.3 ROM
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
Ok so I had a similar issue with my AT&T HTC one. First of all make sure you don't have a security lock screen enabled (basically make sure you don't need to enter a password to get into phone). Secondly I turned my Wi-Fi off just in case (so the phone wasn't connected to the internet). And make sure you are on a sense based Rom (I was using sky Dragon Rom).

I was able to use my unlock code on ARHD. I tried several times at first with similar results. The method that worked:
1) insert foreign sim
2) enter unlock code
3) wait until it freezes on "rebooting"
4) manually turn off the phone
5) remove foreign sim while phone is OFF
6) turn on phone
7) place foreign sim back, HOILA!

I'm probably late to this thread but, the exact same thing happened to me on an HTC One S running MaximusHD. I tried a number of things and found this thread by google. I finally figured out the issue. If your ROM has APM, make sure you disable it if you can. The APM option menu was causing the hangup and it worked fine after I disabled it.

[Q] Buggy Vodafone UK model - Any ways to update to the Sim free firmware?

Hi All,
I bought a UK version of One Mini 2 sold by Vodafone, initially locked to Vodafone. I unlocked it via eBay. The software is very buggy and phone had been stuck in the initial boot screen (HTC One logo) for 3 times in 6 months and I had to do a full factory reset going in the console.
Right now, I am keep getting '"Unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped". error. It keeps flashing and it's very annoying. Also the Facebook app does not work. It will open and after 3-4 seconds it will close.
I am fed up with the software and would like to update it to a sim free version. Is it possible ?
Are there any stable version of CM ?

Vodafone was selling it on PAYG in Nov for 180 quid and 1 quid unlock on eBay. I had One S earlier and wanted a mini version. But this is too buggy.
Currently HTC Dev does not list One Mini 2. Is it still OK to use it ? Do you have any experience in using it on UK carriers ?

this stock is from UK.
its from my phone and from UK others have tried and worked.
give it shot.
I'm also using a UK Vodafone mini 2 and mine has no problems at all, a factory reset is probably the best thing to try.
Have you tried clearing data for Google play services? You should give it a try and restart your phone, also try clearing data for facebook, if it don't sort it, back up your data and try the factory reset.
If you unlock your bootloader and flash an unbranded stock Rom you will be giving up your warranty too!
I unlocked it from eBay for a quid. I think that voids my warranty.
Earlier, around 4 times, my phone was almost bricked when it was stuck in boot screen. Usually when all apps start giving error and if I restart it might never come back. The I had to a full reset from console to get back. I tried to clear data and cache for all google play and FB still same error. Now, I downgraded my FB to an older version and it seems to work.
I play FUT Mobile 15 and use Whatsapp and FB. One way or other I will have some error poping up all the time. That's why wanted to try Sim free version.
Do you thing Clearing the Phone's Cache Partition could help with these issues ?
@intel007 See this vodafone forum post. There are few other posts complaining about this.
I remember a UK Hot deals discussion where some member said that Vodafone is selling 2 different sets of Mini 2, first set is an old stock and second one is a new one which can be unlocked only from Vodafone. I guess mine falls under the first one.
SIM unlocking will not void your warranty, HTC would not check that if it was sent in for service, they'll only check the boot loader status.
Are you using an sd card, try taking it out, my son had problems with 2 phones freezing which we returned, in the end it turned out to be a bad sd card.
You could try clearing cache from stock recovery, it'll do no harm and is worth a try, if your still having issues you should backup your data and do a factory reset.
As a very last resort you should call HTC UK to have the phone collected for service, which in my experience should take around a week.
Ps there are 2 models of one mini 2, my son's unlocked European version has no nfc where mine does.
Good luck and all the best
Deleting cache partition did not help. Finally did a full factory reset from the boot. It's been few hours and it looks OK now.
@intel007, I am using an SD card. Yea, after you mentioned about it I kinda feel that it could be an issue. After the reset, I formatted the SD card on my computer (Win 8) and then switched off the phone and inserted the SD card. When I switched ON the phone, it gave me an error saying "SD Card Unexpectedly Removed" only once. Then it was fine and I can store and retrieve stuff from it.
I am going to give it one more chance and hoping that Lollipop will be out soon.

Droid Turbo XT1254 SU4TL-49 Baseband unknown, IMEI blank, SIM not detecting

One fine day I used the Verizon's software upgrade assistant to reinstall the 23.21.49 as my phone was randomly restarting itself even in safe mode (also tried resetting the phone and left alone). Once Verizon software upgrade assistant reinstalled the software, am not able to use the phone at all (. SIM was not getting detected, WiFi not working. Googled about this issue and then realized that the IMEI is blank, Baseband version in About Phone is also unknown. Thought might be after unlocking the bootloader I might be able to fix this (some post mentioned that they have fixed by regenerating some MPB_001 in some root folder). Tried to unlock the bootloader, chatted with @jcase in Sunshine - he suggested me to flash the stock rom (SU4TL-49) again from 'https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=44740'. Flashed that but still same problem.
Interestingly my bluetooth was working. I used my friend's phone's data (bluetooth tethering) and installed Sunshine and unlocked bootloader (paid $25 ). Then flashed latest TWRP 3.0.2.0 and installed latest stable CM12.1 hoping that it might fix something. In CM12.1, my WiFi started working )) but it was still not detecting SIM, IMEI and Baseband were still blank/unknown.
Is there something else I can try or is it better to assume that the Turbo will die without tasting stock Android M? Need help!
Update: Left the phone alone for 3 days, and to my surprise baseband version is showing now!! Sim card detected, IMEI is showing! Only sad part is I already purchased another device, wasted money . Not sure how it fixed itself on it's own, anyways am loving it!
You might need another sim card. Unless you have tried your sim in another phone.
