sd card for z1 - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what kind of sd card is suitable for z1? would UHS Speed Class 1 work? is UHS better than class 10?

I personally use Sandisk 64GB 80 MB/S for both my phones. Amazing card.

sorry, but you didn't answer my question. I want to know if I can used UHS Speed Class 1 card in z1. will it work?

Yes will work fine. I use a sandisk ultra 32gb UHS 1 card which I think is equivalent to class 10 and don't have any problems. So yes that will be fine

what about playback of video recorded on it? does it play on any device? or need must load from original card?

my expirience with the z1 shows, that it can read everything^^ even nfs+ partitions
the same with uhs cards. the z1 should be able to read it.
but why you want one? just buy a sandisk ultra sdhc with upto 30mB/s (read) and 10mB/s write, its more than enought for everything
even if youre wathing non-plus-ultra high-definition videos. they dont need more thatn 5-6 mB/s thats not a problem for the sd-card

Absolutely! I'm currently using SanDisk Ultra Micro SDXC 64GB Class 10 UHS-1. UHS-1 Actually doubles the speed of Class 10.

[Q] X8 support class 10 of memory?

I bought 8G (Class 10) memory card. but i don't think my phone(x8) support it?
in all of tests, My phone shows has class 4. Is it correct?
did you buy the card from Ebay or is it from a reputable source? Eg are you sure the card is a genuine class 10?
Swyped from HTC Desire S using XDA Premium
I don't know, how can i understand it is original?
insert your card into cardreader and record big file, and check record speed.
Have a look at the sdcard.
The most of the sdcards have a little number in a circle on it, and that´s the class of the sdcard.
So, if you can find a "10" in a circle on your card, it´s class ten.
if you have another number in a circle on it, then it´s not class 10
It may be a hardware problem, but testing the speed on a pc would be taking you out from the doubt.
I'm using a class 10 8gb Kingston microSD. No problem at all.
However, I experienced heavy writing problems with class 4 8gb Kingston. This was the reason why I had to resell this card, only to check with my own eyes the problem was on the x8 and not in the class 4 microSD.
I tested my 8G-Class 10 microSD with Ram Reader,
File: 699 Mb
write: 90 s ----- 7.8 Mb/s
Read: 65 s ----- 10.75 Mb/s
File: 398 Mb
write: 50 s ---- 8 Mb/s
Read: 20 s ---- 19.9 Mb/s
How do you think a bout my class of microSD?
Its class 8

kingstone products have a lot of compatibility problems, i know they're popular but they suck.
I'm using an SDHC A-Data 8 Gb class 10 and works great.

Those results mean nothing, there are lots of things that can influenciate speed. Also, the cards' speed is tested on factory with a special machine, not a computer, so real world speeds are always a bit slower. If the card was a fake i think it would be getting far worst performance.
Test it on a desktop pc (rear ports) using a decent card reader.

I have a kingmax class 10 8GB.
In pc, i can reach around 14.x mb/s.
In phone, fastest is 8mb/s, but in average 6mb/s+.

Friends
At last, I tested my microSD (class 10) in Galaxy S I9003 with "SD Tools v2.1" & "SD Card speed test v1.9" applications, They show that the class of my microSD is 10, then tested again in x8 and show class4 or class6.
conclusion: Our x8 can't support class 10. it support class up to 6.
It's true that the sd card interface of the X8 can have a limit below class 10, but remember that there are always factors that can limit the speed.. Partition type, allocation unit size, ROM, kernel.. But yeah, i won't be surprised if it had a limit of roughly 6MB/s..and it's not that bad
Class 10 is very smooth for ungaze...
I test my 16GB V-Gen class 10 memory card with sd tools and the result:
read speed : 14,4 mbps
write speed : 8,2 mbps
i use 32k allocation unit size when formatting through computer,,
i have 8GB AData class 10 and work fast and smooth
Read 20 mb/s
Write 12 mb/s and some time more
can someone confirm if X8/W8 can benefit class 10? cause I have here class 6 offered by a friend for a very cheap price cause it is second hand

[Q] MIcroSD card for our device....

I have an 16gb class 4 card and i am looking to buy a 32 gb card.
During my "research" for card ,I read somewhere that card speed affect the video quality recording, i never recorded a 30 fps video with the class 4 card it was always 17-19 fps only.
And so i thought to upgrade to a class 10 card or the new sensations UHS-I cards.
Now, i am looking for sandisk UHS-I 32 gb class 10 card.
Will our device support UHS-I card or not???
Has anyone tried UHS-I card on our device??
or shoud i buy any other 32gb class 10 card?
i have 16gb sandisk class4 and 8gb transcend class10
i recorded video using both same setting and aplication,
it show 19-20fps on both video recorded, played on pc = copy at first,
is show lil faster 19-21ps when i played on 8gb class 10 on phone
i guess its the same on video cmiiw

about sandisk's bad reviews - a while back they had an ultrabad batch of cards that failed pretty consistently and they gained a bad rap for it - apparently they're better / fixed now, but fwiw, i've had every brand fail on me (literally; patriot, lexar, sandisk etc) but I might be the exception to the usage details as I'm swapping machines all day
My last card was a Lexar 32 c10 and it worked perfectly for over a year. It's now in my wife's G3. I've been using a Sandisk 64 c10 for the last few months and it's also working flawlessly. I think you're fine with either one.
i got the Sandisk 32 class 10
that is the first step to do to start using it now ?
format on computer or plug it to the phone directly ?

You could simply plug it in to the phone (while it's off of course) and format the card within the phone as well
I have done that too as well. I recently bought a 32gb micro sd for my Note2 sgh-i317 and for my gs3 a 64gb micro sd sgh-i747

[Q] MicroSD Card for Nexus One

I have the stock microSD card that came with the Nexus One (4gb class 2) and I am looking to replace it with a higher capacity and higher class microSD card.
I am looking at a 16gb class 10 microSD card for this purpose. Will this be compatible with the Nexus One?
AFAIK class 10 cards are SDHC cards. Does Nexus One recognize SDHC cards?
I have read some compatibility issues with a 32gb class 10 card, but not 16gb class 10 card.
Also, I will be partitioning 4gb with EXT4 file system (for mount2sd reverse mount) and the rest FAT32 for normal use. Will class 10 card work with both these file formats and will mount2sd work?
Or would a class 6 card be better for speed and compatibility?
Thanks for helping.

The class 10 MicroSD cards are all SDHC category cards. That's what I meant.
Anyways, thanks for your help. I will get the 16GB class 10.

The HC in microSDHC, miniSDHC, SDHC, only means that the card has a high capacity (4 - 32 GB). According to the official manual, the Nexus One should support microSD cards up to 32 GB.
I have a SanDisk 32 GB microSD class 10 in my Nexus One and it has been doing great for quite some time! Runs smooth and with no hassles. I don't see why you would have any issues with a 16 GB.
using samsung brand
Hi
bought the fastest class 10 (samsung brand) 16gb with the highest writing rate I could find, and using the latest 4.2.2 rom it is faster than the stock version. simply amazing.
invest in good speed. it's worth every penny

[Q] SD cards

Hello guys
Which sd card do you use and which one would you recommend me ? (32gb, and with high speeds)
I use Sony 32GB -10 UHS-1 class.
It's fast like hell.

Dont use a scandisk 64gb they get to around 40gb full and then they die, ive just killed mine with 54gb of data on it. I think upto 32gb uhs are good but the 64gb sdxc and upward cards seem to be having teething problems.
I had used transcend 32gb class 10 card without any problems. Now using 64gb one without any issues yet.
I have a 64 GB adata class 10, it works very good and so far i dont have any problem with it
