I think its possible, because our Optimus 2x meet the system requirement to run Android 4.4.
And hope LG could release official update as they says about limitation of upgrading to Jellybean on Optimus 2x

It's hard. Kitkat is meant to work in low memory devices, like ours, but this doesn't mean it is meant to work on old devices! There will be in the next years new devices with low memory and with kitkat. (mainly in developing countries) Our only hope is that the penguins do their magic.. Wait and see..

Well if you read in dev section you could find an post in slimbean thread...
DJNoXD work on KitKat (4.4) so please be patient, i am sure soon we get KitKat
(which hopefully tast good for our phone )
I think also if tony find some free time he will work on it, too.
Our masters could make it to boot but it would be very hard to make all the things work(atleast some of them) but as it can take a very long time I don't think they want to work on it. It would be awesone if the devs unite in a team and help eachother to bring kitkat for our beloved mobile but lets hope this will happend!

you are right, its hard to make, but they can make first version for users which is using just basic staff (like wifi, camera, music, messages..) to see how it works, will it have problems and so on
Android 4.4 kitkat
Now it is reality:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:. For info look at the Slimrom Work!:highfive:
Yup, and if the devs will make the important bugs dissapear that means that my p990 will stay in my hands for another year This great comunity make me love this smartphone even more when I see it can run another version release from Android the devs make us like our phone even more unlike stupid LG that forgot about us a long time ago...

with my expierence all builds goes kinda 6 month till trully stable versin, allways is some little things what keep carsh phone, like it was from 2.3 to Android 4.0, and to 4.2.
exsample, when take photo camera crash, under 15% battery phone turn off, strange unwanted random restarts etc.....
Is possible, because Android 4.4 consumes a little resources and was tested in a Motorola Defy, and runs great the beta version of CM10.3! (with bug obviously)
4.4 is Exciting.hehe
Heh heh.
KitKat will be useless because our phone doesn't support NEON and we don't have much RAM. So most of the features in Kitkat will not function properly on our phone. It's just my thought
kit kat in 512 Ram . i doubt it

Hello,
I want to ask optimus 2X owners something,
I read a review on engadget
And they say that the optimus 2X's software is laggy and that the memory is not enough
Is that true? or can I buy my optimus 2X without any doubt?
Thank you

lag?
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA Premium App
Mine is rooted, some applications frozen - I have noticed nothing i would call lag.
Well, I disagree with recent sentiment in this thread.
It does lag.
No terribly so but it's patently obvious that some processes don't use SMP and as a result lag is evident.
Whenever the package manager is accessed or a notification comes in the phone seems to go into serial processing mode and effectively hands processor priority to the system app.
In my opinion this is software related and is fixed in Honeycomb - these lags are not apparent on a Moto Xoom (2.3) but they are apparent on a Moto Atrix (2.2).
Examples:
Play a CPU intensive game and force a notification, watch it momentarily stall.
Queue a lot of Market downloads and wait till they start "installing" - try using your phone.

Yes you are correct. Seen my mistake after posting
Sent from my LS670 using XDA App
My homescreen is almost always laggy.
Weather animation lags to.
The phonecall quality is also bad.
Its not what i've expected from a dual core phone and
Im not 100% happy with this gadget.
laggy? I would say it got some certain hangtimes on occasions...
at 1st, there was no lags, now I had it for about 14 days, and its filled up with a lot off apps. I get hangtimes when installing a new app. That was not the situation in the beginnning. Also got some hangtimes when exiting some apps on occasion.
I found a workaround though.
I rooted, installed autokiller (not a usual task killer as you might think of) and Cache Cleaner NG.
Also, I installed Titanium backup, and "froze" or uninstalled unnessecary apps, stock apps etc. Now I got a lot more free ram, and a quicker ROM.
I use Zeam Launcher and I have frozen LG launcher.
But don't get to worried. When android 2.3 comes around, it will be much faster, as 2.2 doesn't support dual core + 2.3 is much more optimized.
Battery life + user experince will increase tenfold or more
The best phone till date in my oppinion.
looking forward to HTC Pyramid though, which I dont expect to be around the next 6 months, and by then, I'm able to get a new phone
The LG Launcher is not really that good, not laggy but not super responsive either. I user LauncherPro and haven't experienced any lag at all. I'm amazed at this phones speed.

sdk is not source code
SDK = Software Development Kit, not the Source Code !
This is tool for software developers that are making apps/gamez for ICS.
i know..but devs try to make it work on SE x10
and when i got zte blade, on modaco the devs ported 2.3 from sdk
Bless, we've been stuck waiting for 2.3 for nearly half year, with no visible signs when is that gonna happen. Probably ICS in two years time.
On the matter as started above S SDK is not source code.

Don't count on it. I guess our best bet is Cyanogen. I don't think LG will do it.
It might just be me, but unless apps start requiring ICS there's no real benefit to it. It doesn't seem to do that much that can't be achieved otherwise. I actually just switched from a Gingerbread phone to a 2.2 OB and I don't miss anything. Reading about 4.0 doesn't give me the impression that existing phones will be so much better with it.
It would obviously be nice to have ICS and I would definitely flash an ICS rom to my OB.

It matters not. The software itself wont eat much. That 16gb internal is for smoother operation. System not reading an SD Card which would be slow. That's why they gave it a large internal memory as possible.
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
Yup. Phone 's hardware is no problem. We have a decent processor and RAM and ROM space. So ice cream sandwich is surely to run on optimus black. Unlike other phones such as Sony, s new devic es xperia mini and pro and neo etc which have just 320mb internal memory.
Although since LG will take too many time to update we will surely need some developer 's support S soon as possible.
Don't care i'm expecting miui ice cream

I don't think OB will be updated to ICS because were not even Gingerbread yet. But my hope is with Marquee because it's currently 2.3 so next update is certainly ICS then just port to our OB.
Similar to what happend to my old Samsung i780 where only its twin brother EPIX got updated to the latest version thankfully some good guys here at XDA ported it.

how great you people don't know the difference between low end , mid end, and high end.................................ok here it goes at the moment cored core and dual core devices is at the top also known as high end devices, the single core devices are at the mid range devices and the phone like 300mh ,600mh etc are considered as low end phones or transitional phone or entry level smart phone......
when lg released black and 2x they were considered as high end devices there fore we can demand android update from lg because that is our right hope you people got it

Dave is having some trouble getting the framebuffer for our qHD panel going in the 4.2 kernel if I understand correctly, but he's working at it. Once that's set we should see some quicker development because CM10.1 is in pretty good shape for the RAZR HD, which shares a lot of our hardware.

Ubuntu doesn't support armv6 so that's the first problem also every single app that I'd on there would have to be ported and every future app will also have to be ported also with regards to the cm 10.1 port the device needs a proper cm port in order for it to count look at it like this
Galaxy s2 - stable cm10.1 horribly laggy crashy Ubuntu (it's a dev preview but still)
Galaxy ace horrible laggy crashy cm10.1.+ armv6 architecture- lucky if it boots up
I'm not gonna go so far as to say it won't happen but you would have to find a dev crazy enough to try porting it and even if he/she (don't wanna be sexist) defys all odds and makes it the same speed as on nexus devices (I.e horribly laggy) it would still have guaranteed very limited usability because of Ubuntu's lack of armv6 support

I'm not remotely interested in it for my Ace, the question was just a general one.

I presume that there is a lot of background duties going on which clogs the RAM.
