Hi,
Not a major problem, but after the update, I have noticed that smileys do not display in messaging as they used to.. now a smiley face is just a " : -)" and not the graphic symbol.
I am presuming that this is due to the introduction of emoji which weren't available before. I have a number of contacts that do have emoji's and thus I presume there is a "translation" problem.
Is there anything that can be done about this?? I have tried a couple of messaging apps but I prefer the stock one if possible.
Anyone else having this issue and can suggest a work around??
Thanks

Is there any way that I can go back to the look of Messaging from Android 2.2.2?
I've just moved into my Note (running ICS 4.0.3) from my trusty old Dell Streak, and am very disappointed to find that messaging uses the common speech bubble layout, which I hate. 2.2.2. on the Dell presented messages in a black and white text format, one message underneath the next, and I'm extremely keen to get this back on the Note.
Is there any way I can either tweak Messaging 4.0.3 to look like 2.2.2, or else can anyone recommend a messaging app that doesn't use left/right side speech bubble/boxes but presents messages in - dare I say it, at the risk of sounding arrogant - a more adult way?
Thanks.
That isn't the ICS messaging app, it's Samsung's skin. There are a few different messaging apps such as GO SMS but I've never used any.
Many thanks.
I've installed Handcent and I think I may indeed be able to tweak it to my liking. Under a "Bubble settings/conversation style" you can choose "Android", which is very close to what I'm used to.
Problem solved - I think!
Good to hear you solved the problem. The beauty of Android, if you don't like something change it!
Just got my HTC one, non rooted, stock firmware.
When i downloaded facebook messenger and tried to enable it to hijack sms/mms by going to the options screen, the option to enable it is missing. Funny that it works on my xperia z but not htc one.
Anyone with the same issues? Or did i get a weird set?

anyone?
I happened to find the same thing on one of my phone.
The option is here on my Galaxy Note but not on my Acer Gallant. What's weird is that I have not seen a lot a people talking about this.
SMS settings disappeared after I upgraded from Android 4.0.4 to 4.1.2. Hope they fix it soon. Reported it. If anyone knows how to fix, please tell us. Thanks.
I also have this issue and have been searching for a fix with no result. It is a direct result of an upgrade to a 4.1+ base from 4.0.x. I have tried modifying build prop values to see if facebook messenger was somehow disabling the feature based on android version but have not had any luck. What is curious is if you restore messenger from a backup made on a working ROM/device, it does enable the setting briefly and for a single use. Once the app realizes it's authentication is out of sync with Facebook main it requires you to resync and you will lose the feature again. I have found minimal forum posts about it, I believe some other devices are free from issue on 4.2.x though.
Hey together,
couldn't find an answer and the official WhatsApp support wasn't much of a help either, so here's my problem:
I'm using a HTC One, all stock, WhatsApp+ v.3.58 and SwiftKey 4.1.1.146.
Whenever I type something and want to add an emoticon, the Emoji window doesn't "replace" the actual keyboard. It just comes on top, which takes away a lot of space, is very inconvenient and forces me to first use the back button in order to send my message. When I minimize the keyboard and then press the emoji button, the layout looks fine.
I have tried it with the normal WhatsApp, the stock keyboard and also various versions of the respective software.I attached two screenshots, one is how it looks after I typed, the other one how it's actually supposed to look.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Updatet SwiftKey to newest version. Same problem
I got the same problem.
I'm using a Nexus 4, tried both the original whatsapp and whatsapp plus.
Stock keyboard and Swiftkey, nothing seems to solve the problem...
Someone found out what's wrong?
I have the same issue with my Nexus 4 and HTC One too.
I've managed to solve the problem by disabling "Pie Control". Not sure if this helps.
Use the official app, when I remember right this doesn't work with WA+ or try to change the hight of the emoji area to the stock value
Sent with my Orio running HTC One

Hi
Just flipped Samsung for ExperiaZ1 and I am finding my way but two initial frustrating glitches :
1. Am i right in saying i cannot reduce image size below 2mb ? That is annoying as I like to email multiple smaller resolution images ( 650kb etc ) straight from my phone sometimes so i do not jam up the recipients inbox ??
1. No matter how hard i try i cannt set exdialer to be the defualt dialer app. i can set golauncher and opera browsers no worries but it just wont acceot the exdialer. it keeps asking me if i want to use stock or exdialer everytime i puch the phone icon. I have tried going into app manager and clearing/setting defaults there, have cleared cache, rebooted, delerted and reinstaled exdialer etc. nothing works. never had this issue with samsung. i can only assume three is a new relase of exdialer with a bug in it ?
thanks for any help you can give me
justin
Here is a third...
I use my Portable Hotspot function alot. I cannot seem to be able to add it as part of the quicklaunch menu in the notigication bar up top ?
????????
Hello everyone, I hope y'all are staying healthy.
I've been having issues with the emoji/stickers keyboard on whatsapp. I'm still on OneUI 2.1 unrooted, swiftkey keyboard and I'm using Hex for theming.
The problem is that I cannot access said keyboard and don't know why. I'm currently using the double messaging service so I have two whatsapp accounts, and this issue only happens on my main account. This is unsettling, to say the least.
I don't know how else to describe this issue, so I'm attaching a video that shows this behaviour between the two whatsapps.
The first one shown on the video is the secondary account.
If anyone could help that'd be greatly appreciated, thanks!!
Have you tried to disable/uninstall whatsapp layer in hex?
And how about with samsung keyboard?

Thanks for your response. I just tried both of those things and had the exact same behaviour.
