KitKat Easter Egg - Nexus 5 General

This may be documented somewhere else in this thread, but I haven't seen it. So I figured I'd tell you how to access a hidden bonus item on your Android KitKat Device.
1. In Setttings > About Phone.
2. Tap on - 'Android Version 4.4' very rapidly 3 times and it will take you back to your home screen with a big letter 'K' embossed on the center of the screen.
3. If you tap the K it spins around. 6 fast taps take you to another image. The new Android Logo.
4. Enjoy.

The final easter egg is actually a pretty good example of how full screen games can hide the navigation bar to utilize maximum screen space. I really like that Google added that feature.

Indeed! But I thought it was a myth because none of my games does that. Seems they have to make use of it first :silly:

i wonder if there is an Easter egg in the shipping rom kqxxx? i'll dumped the system before unlocking- i'll have try booting and bypassing the setup wizard.

Yeah. As it's a new feature, changes will need to made to games by the developers to take advantage.

I looked for the easter egg hours after I got my nexus 5. While I paid somewhat attention, it didn't hit me until a few minutes after that spinning six times gives K-I-T-K-A-T. I like it; kinda subliminal

Can you tell us how you activated it? You told us to try ourselves but gave us no actual instructions on how.
You go into Settings, About Tablet, tap on the Android version a few times until it comes up. Then long press the big jelly bean.
I haven't seen a candy cane though.

That is, pretty interesting. Perhaps if Google goes back through the letters for naming Android OS's, they'll use "Candy Cane" for C

Starting with the lock screen, we can see a transparent status bar up top with white icons. There is a camera icon in the corner, that can be dragged to open the camera.
We can also notice the transparent nav bar at the bottom, new App Drawer icon, and an ugly Phone icon. The black background of the App Drawer is also gone.
One thing to notice here: there is no SMS app, so if the leaks are to be believed, SMS will be integrated into Hangouts app.
The current Location access screen will simply be called Location. On this screen the checkboxes labeled GPS Satellites and Wi-Fi & mobile network location have been removed and are replaced with more simplified options that replicate the same functionality: High accuracy, battery saving, and device sensors.

Guys, it's all in the .apks
The res images are in SystemUI/res/drawable-nodpi. They are black and white unfortunately because they are colored by the related java code...
The cylindrical kind of thing with something dripping down is indeed a flan. The dessert_dandroid on the other hand seems new.
Cheers, hope this helps solving the riddle

Interesting KeyLimePie Leftover Discovery in Google Keyboard...

INTRODUCTION
Been having fun using the Google Key Lime Pie keyboard?
This is something I came across accidentally earlier today and I've noticed that I couldn't find any sort of thread or discovery of this recent addition but please forgive me if this was already found.
Because as you may know, the Google Keyboard always had a hidden theme chooser in a app activity called the "Android keyboard Debug settings" but it appears that this section was quite recently changed.
I personally wanted to go back to ICS keyboard myself and as I knew this secret so I took a visit to the intent which previously to me had options for themes such as, Stone (Normal), Stone (Bold), Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich.
But I was surprised as I hit theme because the default (selected) selection on our 4.4.2 OS was named KeyLimePie (after the original 4.4 android name)
Currently I have only one device at hand so I cannot confirm the legitimacy of this but my setup is as follows :
- Latest Google Keyboard Version
- Standard Stock Based 4.4.2 KitKat based ROM build
- Device : Hammerhead (Nexus 5)
How-to.
There are two methods I'm aware of accessing an activity of an application, however to make it easy I will show a simple method which is possible due to one of our beloved launchers.
For this method I will Use Nova Launcher's Activity list.
Simply
1.Install Nova
2.Go to homescreen.
3.Long press screen, select Shortcuts then activities.
4.Go down to Google keyboard and select the Debug Options

I'd doubt that, android versions generally release in and about each year of difference and KitKat is still quite recent. Also they followed the alphabet as follows. Donut>Eclair>Froyo>Gingerbread>Honeycomb>IceCreamSandwich>Jellybean>KitKat (Originally called Key Lime Pie)
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
If you decompile google keyboard you will notice couple of lines there in xmls (gb for gingerbread, ics for icecream and klp for KitKat - i would say google was lazy to correct this stuff. Nothing to see here really, its just a name missmatch, common for google.
