[Q] 4.3 sim unlock method vs uicc unlock - Sprint HTC One (M7)

i have been reaing about unlocking the sim on the 4.3 update and am considering going through with it however tthe other day i enabled developer options and a new menu popped up in the update device section and that menu is UICC Unlock i was wondering what it does and if messing with it would have the same outcome as the 4.3 unlock method

Yes it's actually for SIM unlock, but only if Sprint wants you to. Why don't you just follow the many guides posted?

I think the lt30a is the AT&T phone. You may be able to get an unlock code from them. I had no problem getting an unlock code from AT&T when I sold my S3 to buy this phone.
EDIT: I read this wrong. the AT&T version is lt30at. Sorry.
yes.
from what i undestand it was bought in uk.
some people are confusing the 2 unlock types
Just in case, the sim unlock process is a simple one, just insert another sim from the other provider and enter the code provided.
Unlocking the bootloader is not possible with some versions including the lt30a - at least a method does not yet exist - unless you are working with the models that have unlocking enabled. Check other posts which cover this topic extensively.
yes i know it asks for the SIM network unlock PIN, i do not have one.
and also i know that the bootloader isn't unlockable, i've checked in service info. i don't need unlocked bootloader for now as i have rooted the latest stock 4.1.2, only problem i have it with the sim lock..
got the sim network unlock pin from network operator, thread can be closed
Or put [solved] in the title

[Q] Help! After using Cyanogenmod Installer it's asking for SIM Network unlock code

In an attempt to use my locked AT&T HTC One phone on my T-mobile service I used the Cyanogenmod Installer to root my HTC one and hope to use it on the T-mobile network; I also unlocked the bootloader via HTC website. The newest Cyanogenmod is installed (11-20140417-NIGHTLY-m7) and wifi is working, etc. Unfortunately, no phone calls since it keeps asking for SIM Network unlock code (I bought an unlock code...not working). Any suggestions? What should I do? I did some research and I read something about using an RUU...is this a good solution? Thank you all!
Status of phone on bootloader screen is:
S-ON "TAMPERED"

No, bootloader unlock and sim unlock are different things. You'll need to be on the stock rom to input your sim unlock code.

And that's what worked. Thanks!
Hello,
I (still) have the same problem here. I have a DHD that was locked and branded. I followed HTCDev's procedure to unlock the bootloader and installed a Cyanogenmod ROM (unofficial 10.1) two weeks ago that works great. I've been trying to get my phone unlocked for days with no luck ever since.
I've tried using the HTC unlock tool v. 0.9.5/4 and rooting the phone too. Nothing. Drivers are working fine; program executes as expected, but I still have a locked phone after it finishes. I got an unlock code that I enter after booting and I get a "successful network unlock" message, but the radio seems to remain off. I cannot place calls. Attempting to choose a network operator manually from the settings menu fails; I get a "mobile network unavailable" message when doing so (service providers list does not even appear). I've read threads saying that the only way to get around this is by reverting the phone to its original ROM and HBoot, but I've read elsewhere that workarounds on branded phones shipped with Gingerbread or Froyo (like mine used to run) fail and/or screw up the phone, so I have not tried that. Any ideas or pointers?
Thanks!

[Q] Rooting Moto X

Ok so sorry if this has already been posted but I can't find anything. This is my first attempt at rooting. I am trying to root my 2014 Moto x. I am on US cellular so I believe the model is XT1093. Not sure though as this seems to be missing from settings in lollipop. I tried a root tutorial for xt1097 but did not work. There is no OEM unlock setting in my Developer options. I think I have to unlock my bootloader through Motorola but havn't been successful.. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Andrew
I've got the same problem here I think it's a US Cellular problem with what they eliminated from lollipop but I can't be sure looking everywhere but can't find any answers. I wish we could get some help with this though would love to unlock and root this thing.
Yea, I think your right about it being a US Cellular thing. No one else seems to have the problem and US Cellular is a unique model number (XT1093 vs 1095 or 1097). Iv tried to unlock the bootlader through motos web cite which should work but I'm having some difficulties. I entered the info from my device, it said it was able to be unlocked and gave me the unlock key. but when I entered the key I got an error. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or they are.. Still working on it..

What command are you using to unlock your bootloader with the key? And what error are you getting?
I've tried the unlock method from Motorola. It all works until it prompts you to check the box in developing. options that says unlock oem functions. On the 1093 in lollipop the dev. option is not there. Also tried the tool kit in this forum that is made for non pure phones... It works great... even tells you your phone is unlocked but it doesn't finish. What I mean is it doesn't reboot your phone and the phone is still locked. Really frustrating ? Any help or ideas are very welcome. PLEASE HELP!
Is there a way to root the phone without unlocking? Cause if we could... We could try a different rom and see if from there we could find the unlock box in the developer options.

There's no such thing as "Unlock/ Unlock OEM functions" in developer options, in any ROM, ever.
Just found this.. Apparently Nexus 6 & 9 have this additional step to unlock the bootloader. I didn't have to do this while unlocking my device whilst on lollipop. So I'm gonna assume it's possible to unlock the bootloader on your device if this option is missing from the Developer Options..
Follow the procedure on motorola's website to unlock the bootloader and report back with the error you see on the online tool, or the actual device.
P.S - voids your warranty, unless you have a dev device
It doesn't give an error per say... It tells you to go to dev options and check the box or click on the option to unlock oem. Of course it's not there so the program will not execute the unlock. It says waiting for device....

Your phone needs to be bootloader unlocked first. If it is, root was available from day one. If it is still locked, then no. AT&T can unlock your phone through tech support. You probably need to be paid off first though.
So I read that sum unlock will bootloader unlock also. How is this done? Through a sim card?
That's what I was just told.. let's see what happens here..

Once sim unlocked, the option to enable bootloader unlocking in developer settings will become available iirc.
No idea whats up with using a new sim card to sim unlock, if that's actually true or if that guy is full of it. The other thread mentioned its a server setting that needs to be done on ATT's side.

Only AT&T can SIM unlock your AT&T phone. Once your phone is paid off in full, wait 24 hours and then call AT&T tech support or go into an AT&T store. They will SIM unlock the phone, and then the "toggle OEM unlock" option will be available for you to unlock the bootloader.

I always thought it was done via pin input. I know the pixel 4 is different. When I was on chat with at&t I made it clear I wanted to use the dual SIM function in the phone and that it needed to be sim unlocked in order to do so. Supposedly this new sim that's bei g sent to me will sim unlock... IDK.we will see I guess

Need Help with bootloader unlock

I bought a new Pixel 4 xl when I tried to set it up, it gave me a notification " Your device is managed by your admin". I tried to enable OEM unlock but it was grayed out. I updated it to Android 12 beta I don't see the notification anymore but still can't enable OEM unlock nor even unlock the bootloader.
I want to unlock the bootloader is there any way to do it?
The phone is carrier unlocked it accepts every SIM card on both Physical and esim.
Thanks in advance.

Can you check the device admins in settings?

Are you sure it's not an unlocked Verizon or T-Mo 4XL? They can be carrier unlocked but still be bootloader locked and I'm not sure if there's any way to tell by the model nbumber or IMEI.

Hmm there is the IMEI will have VXN on it or the serial number will probably show it and such has it
It probably lies in the about phone settings

Just as an aside, I got my 4 XL from T-Mo when they had a sale and couldn't get the bootloader unlocked, but the Soli chip went bad under warranty, so when I sent it back to Google, they sent me an unlocked (both carrier and bootloader unlocked) replacement.

So oem unlock is disabled?
Have you tried resetting the phone?
No, I started with a T-Mo oem locked, but Google sent me back an oem unlocked replacement.
My Soli chip went bad after just a month or two.

Try resetting the phone then check that setting
Could be that google had some type of admin on that is preventing OEM unlocking

Because you are BL locked the only two things you can try are a factory reset from recovery, and flashing a full OTA from recovery via adb. If that doesn't work, I'd be trying to get my money back.
Since your IMEI is permanently stored in a school or company database, the admin error will likely return when the device phones home (at first boot when wi-fi is enabled) and from the sounds of it, a policy has been set to prevent bootloader unlocking. That phone may be new to you but it is likely black market.
Now I understand the problem. I have tried the reset option and full OTA update in Android 12 the error isn't here anymore but OEM unlocking can't be enabled.

Yep. Looks like you were ripped off and will never see the full benefits of having an unlocked phone. Since it was "new" I would be getting my money back.
Oh thank God I came to know this before I buy the phone for myself. The problem is actually happening in my Uncle's phone.
Might have the Verizon variation
