Contact name and pic not showing - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Hey guys... This was working for me but notice about a week ago that when I receive or make a call, the gear only shows the number... No name or pic from my contacts. When I look into contacts and call logs, I can see the names but if they call me, it only shows the number. Seems weird that the call log would show their name and also show in my contacts but not when I actually receive the call. Any suggestions on how to correct this?

Update to latest firmware and reset watch?

I'm running 1.2 which is the only one I believe working with note 2. Tried resetting watch and reinstalling gear manager 1.2.13
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

I finally got this working and wanted to update Incase anyone has issues. I reloaded a Rom and my titanium backup reinstalled gear manager. Apparently something didn't install right and I lost my caller ID... No names or photos, just number. Uninstalling and reinstalling gear manager didn't work.
I actually had to go into titanium backup and uninstall all the gear programs... There are about a dozen of them and re-download the apk file. Reboot and it worked.

Contact name not showing
I resolved this problem by removing all of my google accounts and then adding them again. Names now appear on calls and in messaging.

Wrong contact number

Hi, yesterday I added a new contact into my Nexus. When I went to text the contact later on, the message failed to send. I noticed that I had entered the contact number incorrectly (had an extra 0 at the front) and corrected my mistake. The thing is now, whenever I receive a message from that contact, and reply, it tries to reply to the incorrect number I originally entered, even though there is no reference to it. I have to keep deleting the thread on Handcent, and starting a new one, but it still always messes up when I have to reply to a text.
Anyone know why this is? I tried to delete the contact from the phone, and I get this message: "This contact contains information from multiple accounts. Information from read only accounts will be hidden in your contacts lists, not deleted"
If it's of any help I have nexus one with cyanogenmod 6.0 installed and use handcent and have whatsapp installed as well (not sure if ths makes any difference)
Bump, incase anyone missed it.
Have looked at the contact info via your web Gmail?
When you go to edit your contact, keep scrolling down. Android as an annoying way a merging multiple contacts if they have the same name...

Did that too, as well as contact storage and contacts. It has to be being cached somewhere, but I don't know where.

The preinstalled widget on nulls rom that says "Direct Message"......I can get Direct Call to work but when i press on the direct message widget it takes me to Titanium backup form some reason....
as far as i know, you can't message from gear yet. direct dial do work, but not messaging.
Direct messaging ? I dont recall anything like this..
You sure you didnt have AOSP messages installed or something ? Cause I didnt include anything related to texts/messages..
If i look in my available widgets i also have an option for direct message. When i put it on the desktop with a contact selected it just says "App isn't installed". I'm assuming that direct dial only works if you have gearmanager installed on your phone? I tried to setup a contact and it just shows the dialing screen and doesn't do anything on the phone.

Could be apart of contacts in that case.. must includes a direct message widget also.
The direct dial should work fine, when the gear initiates a call it makes it on the host phone.

I believe it is. There is a direct message and a direct dial widget right next to each other.
I still have the issue where when I select either of them my contacts come up blank. I have contacts on the watch, they just do not show on that widget. They used to.
Any ideas?

I tried the direct dial, worked fine.. make sure you add your contacts to the aosp contacts app in your app drawer it does not pull your contacts from your phone.
Although direct message does not work.. I believe because there is no messaging app installed.

Odd post. Didn't mean that...I will try to figure out how to do that. May have been a fluke but I never had to add them. They all just came over...

Yeah i understand what your saying about having not messaging app installed but i thought maybe it would be possible to give you the option to send a predefined message or s voice message. For some reason when I click on it it opens Titanium Backup. not a huge deal just thought it would be cool to click on the widget and send an s voice message or predefined message I had saved

Thats weird man, no idea what could be causing that.. In reality nothing has changed in that department since the last update..
In regards to predefined text replys, I believe there is a APK Samsung have included for this already.. In theory if we could call that popup in a app, perhaps you could select a reply...
Im just spit balling tho, I haven't tested or even looked at it yet.
If you want to see what im talking about create a shortcut using novalauncher to "Select reply".
EDIT: Decided to have a look of the source of the reply apk I mentioned, sadly thats not going to work ! Back to the drawing board.

Your the best F0mey....not a big deal...i was just messing with it and thought it was strange it brought me to titanium backup and then thought how it would be cool if i could send an svoice message or predefined text but its not really a necessity.

Are you sure that you entered your google voice number properly in the forwarding options? I had trouble for the first few hours, but called T-mobile and they checked the forwarding settings... now it works properly.
In the call log, you will see only a missed call. The message itself will only show up in your gmail list, and the browser version of google voice... I think.? There is also a stand-alone .apk app for gVoice, available in the play store]

I am sure ebbed it right as it works just fine for calls. But in a 4.1 I believe they added the option to have your vm show up in the call log to listen to only. This worked fine on my n4. And the option is selected in the stand alone app.

I'm having some strange issues with GV on my Z1S. Just switched to T-Mobile last week and immediately made GV my voicemail. I removed my number from the website and re-added it, went through the prompts, and got the forwarding working. Now, I have 2 strange issues:
1. All the time the phantom voicemail icon will appear on my phone. I force quit "phone" (the app) and it goes away, but it'll show up sometime tomorrow or when I reboot my phone or something.
2. The GV voicemail seems to work intermittently (may have some effect on #1). Meaning, someone will call me and tell me they left a message, but the message is no where to be found. My theory is the forwarding didn't kick in, the message went to T-Mobile voicemail, and the phantom icon appeared. However, I can't yet confirm that.
Anyone dealing with either of these issues?
Is there a way to check my T-Mo voicemail after I've set everything up with google voice?
Thanks.
Same issues am having. For number 1 i am going to try and reset my number from the website.
For number 2 I just disabled the option to see vm in the call log.
The Phantom vm is tmobile picking up and then GV taking over so essentially a vm on each. It's annoying

Weird called number showing when making calls

When I make a call with my Gear 2 Neo, the called number shown on the screen is a different number but the call goes through correctly. Anyone knows why that is?
Are you using Google voice to make calls on your phone?
If yes, the weird number is the pass through number used by Google to place your call.

Question Incoming calls not showing names

Hi,
I've recently moved from a Galaxy S21 to the Pixel 7.
Ever since, on my new Pixel, incoming calls (it might be for specific callers, still unsure) will not show their names, only the numbers!
Later on, on the recent calls list, their names will appear perfectly.
When the incoming call is just a popup over another app, or through notifications, it would actually show the name.
My headphones would even say the name of the caller with the incoming call.
But the phone app would only show a number.
Attaching screenshots.
I've tried already to clear both cache & data of the phone app.
Any suggestions are welcome!
In your contacts (address book app) are the numbers exactly the same as what is shown in the call log? No + or ( ) ?
Are you using the Google contacts app?
That's my only thought.
Hmm, thanks, I usually have people saved with their country code, and this shows just the local number..
I've tried adding now for one of them also the number without the country code, and funny enough even the popup now doesn't show their name :sss
I have the google contact app, though I'm not sure that's what's used by default on the pixel.
I've tried now to merge some 500 contacts through the google contacts app, it's said it'll take some while before it's reflected on my phone, will check again later if that's made any difference.
i had a similar issue when receiving sms messages and calls. i disabled the chat feature in the messaging app which solved the problem for me.

Does the phone app have permissions for Contacts? Did you try stopping the phone app, clearing the storage, and then reopen it?
