. My problem is that my droid is stuck in boot-loop and everything that I've researched or tried hasn't helped. I have version 5.7.906 and I cannot access my boot menu by holding Power + M. I rooted it and was deleting bloatware and accidentally deleted whatever it is that allowed me to view my text messages and my contact information. So I dealt with it for awhile with apps from the play store and after awhile i wanted to fix it and through a little research I decided that I would try to re-install the original ROM, but I couldn't do his because my computer stopped picking my phone and kept coming up with error messages for the drivers saying something about a missing solana driver. So where I am at now is the phone is stuck in boot loop, I cannot access the boot menu, and my computer doesn't pickup my phone at all. If there is anything you could do to help me or even point me in the right direction? Thank You.

Hold volume button BEFORE pressing power, then you should go to AP fastboot
If your computer doesn't recognize it, go to Device manager and find a device with a yellow"!" right click and update drivers.

Hi,
I want to say that everyone is very helpful in this forum and you all rock. I'm having some problems with my rooted samsung captivate. I installed the I9000 Full rom, and it was running fine for a few days then I notice it was very sluggish, so I did a factory restore, but data and apps didn't delete. So I then when in to recovery (R2) and deleted cache and all user data files, then it did a factory restore, and it went in boot up pass the att and samsung S i9000 screen and when to the lock screen, but once I unlock the phone, its just in the black screen, when I click and hold on to the home button it goes to recent, no recnet application and under Task Manager, I have 0 active applications. It won't load any programs or apps. I tried restoring the phone by holding the down volume key and power on button, it goes to R2 recovery and then reinstall package, but it can't find the package. I have it on the memory card, but I guess I deleted it from the internal memory when I did a factory restore. Am I screw, or can someone guide me through this and fix my fone. Thanks in advance. XDA Rules.
Odin one click back to stock, assuming you can get into download mode. Also do a master clear just to be sure. A fresh start might be just what your Captivate needs.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
The same thing happened to me yesterday. Phone was on, battery fully charged. I got on my flight and left it on (forgot I guess) and when I got off the flight, the screen was black. I'll also add, that over the past 3 days the phone was starting to get extremely sluggish (for no reason that I can think of). But back to the rest of the story...
I couldn't get it to turn on, so I pulled the battery and tried again. This time I got the AT&T logo and the Samsung animation. Once the animation was completed the screen goes black.
The phone is still on. How do I know? If I touch any of the bottom buttons they light up.... and stay lit up until I do a battery pull.
Deleted/cleared everything, same behaviour.
I tried reflashing JI6, it works but fails to reinstall the packages, otherwise same behaviour.
I tried reflashing JF6, same behaviour.
The flashes always succeed, but always end up in failure.
Now for the interesting part. I went into recovery mode on JI6. I try to format the internal /sdcard, I get a message that it cannot mount /sdcard /dev... not found.
So to recap, phone not working, recovery mode available, download mode available. adb doesn't seem to be working, but if someone can tell me how to access the phone with "adb shell" while in recovery mode, I might be able to diagnose why /dev... is not mounting... Or at least how I could fix it using adb.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm traveling and needless to say, this is a huge inconvenience, I'm lucky I had my backup phone to at least be able to get online and be able to make calls.
HI,
thanks for quick response. I can get to the recovery mode, where the android holding the shovel. But when I load Odin one click, it don't seem to detect and do anything. o success 0 failed. I installed the samsung captivate windows 7 drivers, the funny thing is when I plug my brink phone in the usb port, it say unrecongize usb. Any other suggestions. Thanks

the shovel is NOT recovery mode, it is download mode.
have ODIN running BEFORE you get your phone in download mode
I rooted my droid 4 a few months ago when I first got it so I could tether. I removed a couple of programs using titanium backup (blockbuster app and some other bloat). Phone worked fine until monday when the touchscreen stopped working. I did a reboot (power + volume down) whereupon it just sat at the M "Dual Core" logo. I tried booting into the recovery menu but selecting "recovery" didn't do anything - it would just hang.
Last night I was able to get it working again by going into the recovery menu and selecting asp fastboot, then using RSDLite to push a stock Droid 4 ROM onto the phone. However, it didn't wipe my old system, and didnt install over it either because all my files were there, and the programs I removed were still gone. So the phone worked for a few hours then the touchscreen stopped working again.
I repeated the process with RSDLite and after a few failed attempts where the phone would hang while booting, I finally got it to boot into the OS again. And this is where I am at now.
I am pretty sure that the problem is related to the OS that is on the phone now and that I need to wipe the phone and start fresh with either a custom ROM or the stock D4 ROM. The problem is that I can't get recovery to do a factory reset. As I mentioned above, recovery just hangs and doesn't do anything. I am reasonably literate when it comes to this stuff but I get really confused because there are so many different ways that people seem to do this stuff (safestrap, bootstrap, CM( etc). I would love to try CM9 but my priority right now is just to have a phone that works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

select recovery by holding the vol buttons and power on boot just like fastboot. press vol - for recovery. when u see dead droid hit both vol up and vol down and theres the recovery
Thanks, I was finally able to get into recovery. Wiped data and did a factory reset which again got stuck at the logo screen. Went back into fastboot and ran RSDlite again to flash the stock ROM which gets me to the "Welcome to Droid4" screen where it says "touch the android to start" but the touchscreen is unresponsive. Starting to think there is something physically wrong with the phone....
send it to motorola, I've heard their customer support is pretty good. but if you voided your warranty by rooting/flashing other roms, I've heard bricking the phone and sending it in works to get a new one too
The only way I can send it back is through an insurance claim so I am trying to save myself $75j if this thing will just work. I just did a reboot and now the touchscreen seems to be working so I am going through the setup process....so weird.
Update: I was able to get the phone to load up and configured my google account etc. It appears that the phone is now running on completely stock installation of OS.....

So it has been a couple days now and the phone works totally fine. It looks like the problem was that by removing whatever bloatware that I did, the phone's OS got borked when VZW pushed an update of some kind. Flashing the stock ROM without doing a factory wipe would temporarily solve the problem but eventually the update would get pushed again and the whole thing would lock up again. The factory wipe + reinstall seems to have been the solution to the problem.
I have spent about 10 hours sitting here, with over 200 tab open trying to find a solution to my problems but I could not find one. My last option is to post here and hope someone can help me out.
I recently bought the tf701t which came with Android 4.2.2. Everything worked fine. A few days ago, I got pushed an update to android 4.3 but it was .1.7 not .1.18 (the newest apparently). With that update, my problems came. When I light up the device by pressing the power button, the lock screen was unresponsive. I pressed my pin numbers in but there was no response and it was as if the touchscreen was broken. However, the home and back button were all working fine. I had to randomly keep pressing until it finally started becoming responsive. When I got in, the quick management window (the one you get by swiping down), kept popping up the moment i press the screen. Because of this, I couldnt do anything. I couldn't even turn off the tablet as the power off option was unable to be pressed by me (When i did press, the window came up again).
After a while, i managed to get around this by again randomly pressing stuff. I got really frustrated and decided maybe if I install a custom rom, this problem might be fixed.
I read around a bit and found that the CROMix rom required firmware 1.18, which I did not have. Because of this, i decided to try install 1.18. First i used the asus unlock tool. Next I tried booting into recovery but here I met my problem. I have guides telling me to first boot using power button + volume down key. This worked. It then told me to choose the RCK option and press the volume up key. This however, did not work. When I selected the RCK option, the android figure appeared lying down with a red triangle and exclamation mark over it.
Unsure of what to do in this situation, i read one of the guides on this forum which said simply place the 1.18 zip file (yes i unziped the zip file from the file i downloaded), in the root folder then reboot and it would automatically update. This didnt happen.
I then tried using the adb thing but it said no devices were connected even when my tf701t was connected to the PC. I guessed that I needed to be in the recovery mode that I could not get into, before it would work.
I then read around and they said I had to first get Rom manager + the CMR recovery thing but Rom Manager said it needed root access. In order to get root access, I needed to get into the recovery mode yet again.
So now I am stuck. Whenever I try the RCK option, the error pops up and I can't get any further.
WIll someone please help me? I have no idea what to do anymore except throw the tablet out.

Did you try to put the update on the external sd card? Not sure if that would make a difference but i remember i used to put it there...
You could also flash a custom recovery and flash the update that way. You can find more info in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2636093
You should safely be able to update your factory firmware first by putting it at /sdcard location.. Then just reboot. It automatic. I Thought there was also an update available in settings after that. Don't unlock til you are at 4.3.
To unlock with Asus unlock tool make sure Google 2 Step verification is disabled.
Then I used fastboot to flash CWM recovery from a computer. I think you flash with fastboot from the newly unlocked bootloader. Power + Vol DOWN.
After you have flash recovery then you can enter it. No scary man lying down.

I forgot to mention one thing at the start. I don't actually have on hand a external microSD card. Which I think might be why placing the zip file in the root of the internal storage did not work.
Should it work? Is there any way to get around it? I've been trying to use sideload with cwm (finally got cwm working), but it comes up with "failed to write data protocol fault no status"
EDIT: Through cwm, I chose "choose zip from /sdcard" then select the "0" file directory then i found my zip at the location. I selected it and confirmed install. However, it then comes up with "Error in data/media/0/(name of update here).zip status 6"
Thanks for the help so far but anyone have an idea about this?
Not sure. After googling I see this

You can put the zips anywhere when your recovery is installed.
Okay so I finally managed to get the custom rom installed and working. However, this did not fix my problem with the touchscreen. I think it is because it only changed the firmware but not the android version (still 4.3).
Is there any place I could find android 4.2.2 rom? This was the one the tablet was on before the update that screwed everything up. If I could downgrade to that version, it may work again.
Thanks
I gave up and just put on the android 4.3 ota from droidbasement. Now the tablet randomly restarts and is stick in reboot loop. It wont even allow me to boot into cwm recovery to delete the cache. But i accept that I now have a $600 piece of **** on my hands. Going to bed. Night.
Ya i dont like the whole void your warranty for "using it" idea. If it responds to fastboot you might be ok.
You should be able to download a 4.2.2 rom from Asus' website (.47 was the last build for 4.2.2). You can use fastboot to install it.

I tried that before but it stated "update aborted" immediately after i pressed confirm, in CWM.
But all that is in the past now. I am pretty sure that the tablet is hard bricked since it no longer even opens bootloader. I accidentally pressed the wipe data option and I read that irreversibly damages the tablet. When I hold pwr+vl down, nothing happens anymore, it keeps on its reboot loop.
Hey everyone - I've got an interesting one I think.
I had just gotten everything working with CM11 when I got ambitious and went to replace the logo.bin to remove the 'unlocked bootloader' warning that shows up every boot. I realized too late that the logo.bin I used was for a Moto G. Now you'd think that this would just affect the boot logo and I'd be able to try again with the right logo.bin... nope.
On boot all I see is colorful snow. I hear the startup sounds, and I can access the files on my computer when connected via USB. After the screen goes to sleep it shows a flashing white light. Same response with each different startup button combo.
Any ideas? I've tried using adb and fastboot manually, as well as Myth Tools. 'fastboot devices' shows up blank, and adb finds no devices either. I've installed RSDLite but can't find a file to use (lots of broken download links), and I'm not sure that would even solve my problem.
Thanks for any help!
The phone woke me up with it's alarm this morning. That was unexpected. It's also ringing when I call it - CM is running, just the screen is messed up.
How can I get into fastboot in this state? I've never had much success getting the key combos to work on this phone. Adb reboot commands were my most reliable way, but adb isn't detecting a device. If I installed CM11 and have not installed google apps yet, should adb be working?

Nope. Not until adb is enabled by going into the developer options or tweaking the build.prop before install.
Just hold down all three buttons when you are booting up and you'll access the boot menu, from there you can select recovery or fastboot or whatever (for me it's easier than using the other key combos as I too have a hard time with them).

Maybe it's the way you described it, but I was actually able to get into the boot menu this time! I've fixed the logo, and the phone boots normally now.
For anyone else with similar issues, getting the boot menu requires doing a simulated battery pull (vol down + power) followed by booting with all 3 buttons pressed. I think my error was attempting to hold all 3 buttons when the phone was still on and expecting to get the boot menu.
Hooray, my wife has a phone again! And I won't have to worry about touching it ever again because I won't be allowed to. :victory:
Thanks!
Hi, I am having some problem with my Atrix HD. I was doing some rom update and after reboot all I can see is colored snow (not sure whats the technical name for this, as it will help to search better) and goes to nowhere from there. I tried rebooting few times, but nothing except the snow. Its summer now, so How can get rid of this snow and see my normal phone ?

What exactly were you doing? Taking the new AT&T OTA or was it something on the custom side?
I know that flashing the wrong sized bootlogo can do this. I actually flashed a bad one I made the other day that turns my screen red and the actual image is all jacked up. The Moto G logo I flashed left it snowing just like you're experiencing. I've also had random bad flashes do this too.
All you can do is fastboot/myth/rsd back to stock and start over. Hopefully you have backups.
Thank you, I managed to fix my phone, it was something related to battery. I simple pressed all three buttons and connected to charger to get to fastboot menu, which also rebooted few times as phone did not had enough battery to run fastboot. Repeated the process few time to get it working. Thanks
Hello! If you're reading this i hope you can help me, cause right now i have no idea what to do. First I'm going to tell my phone specs. I have a rooted, Moto X 2nd Edition XT1092, without any custom ROM installed, running Android Lollipop, with the option to upgrade to marshmallow and an unlocked bootloader. It uses the google launcher by default. I am pretty experienced with root as i have used rooted android phones for more than 4 years now (my first one was a Samsung Galaxy S2) and haven't had any problems until now. I had recently downloaded FaceNiff, one of the sniffing apps for android, and when i pressed start, it would automatically stop. I thought it was maybe a problem of the apps compatibility with my phone, but after researching for a long time, nothing came up so i decided to try another sniffing app. I moved on to DroidSniff, yet, I had the same problem, but this one wouldn't only stop, it would crash. I researched on this app too. Nothing. So I later downloaded one called DroidSheep, and when I started this one, I was lucky that an error was displayed, it was something about Position Independent Executables (PIE), it said "Only Position Independent Executables are supported" or something around those lines. So I decided to research PIE, and I found on the XDA Forums that you could fix this by changing the system/bin/linker file for a custom linker file, which a download link was provided for. I downloaded the file, changed it for the old linker file and tried the apps again. Apparently, I didn't have root access anymore! None of the root apps worked, I thought maybe I had to reboot my phone for my root to come back or for the custom linker to work. So i powered off my phone, turned it on, but instead of turning on, it would say the "Warning unlocked bootloader" thing, and then show a picture of and Android lying down with a caution sign, with the text "No Command" underneath. It's currently in this state, and the phone won't stop repeating this until it runs out of battery. The good thing is I can hold the power and volume down button to enter the fastboot menu, and i can then go into recovery. After this happened, I went to recovery and factory reset my phone, but it still didn't work, so I factory reset it again. It still charges, with a wall plug and with a computer. I think the computer recognises the phone, and I'm pretty sure I have USB Debugging enabled.
To sum this up, I changed the file system/bin/linker for a modified version of it and my phone won't boot up.
Custom linker file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2821644&d=1403933203
Link to the website where it said you can change the linker files to fix the PIE problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...x-bypassing-pie-security-check-t2797731/page1
You are booting into recovery. I think when the android is laying down you hold power and press the volume up key. You will probably have to restore the backup of the file you changed (you did back it up right?).
If that doesn't work, you will most likely have to flash your system partition with the stock one and root again.
