Is it possible to downgrade build in our devices. For example mj5 to mi9. Been trying to figure it out so I can test keyboard apks on mi9 from mj5 but when I try I keep receiving and error from odin. Anyone shed some light on me please.

Do not attempt to downgrade once updated. You will be soft bricked due to the bootloaders. There is a thread with info on this here somewhere no time for me to search for you. If you have downgraded there is a chance you can flash the pit file only and save yourself but it seems to not work for some. The bootloaders will not allow themself to be downgraded so you will end up with a mi9 rom and mj5 bootloader. Pleaee wait for the mj5 odin to be posted eventually. Well, hopefully lol. Good luck

I see some mention of this as a solution, although it look some it's only for those that downgraded to NB5.
.I am trying to understand what would happen if AT&T or BB try to image an older ROM on to the 4.4 leak that some of us are RUNNING, including me.
Assuming AT&T / BB agree to try, has anyone had success this way?

he is not talking about custom roms but a stock image a att service center or best buy can do it and will
I took my Note 3 in to BB yesterday. I'm running the Leaked MLG 4.4.2.
The Samsung dudes were unable to get NB4 to load over the leak.
My BB didn't even have the NC2 (official KK release) in their system yet.
Going to try a different BB tomorrow.

i had the same issue.i restored to mj5 by following the post here at xda then had bb reflash to nb4. no probs updating to kk via ota.
ATT rep told me that if they attempt to restore a 4.3 image over KK it will brick the phone so they won't do it.
Because my phone wouldn't boot when I brought it in they couldn't confirm the OS version. I had to sign a waiver acknowledging my phone might become a brick and releasing them of liability before they would agree to restore my phone.

i just come out from bb no help overthere i have before the kitkat leak one and now trying to put the official one and i did the downgrade for mj5 but still not working..
I may wait till they have the official ROM in their system and then go in to get my leaked version updated.

there is a working method to get the official OTA to update on your phone, Miata just posted a thread about how to do this after restoring to MJ5 and taking the NB4 updated.
he has a file that you flash and after that the OTA update should not fail anymore. Yall should try it out instead of waiting on BB or Att to do something that you can do.
I cant seem to find the mf3 full odin tar to load stock on the active exactly as it would if I updated it from pure stock mf1. I found this but this is mf1 and i didn't think those things are downgradable. the reason is is i have corrupted my system and things are going bad fast i just wanna start over fresh.

Are you on an att device? If so There is no mf3 for us. Its either 4.2.2 mf1 which locks you out of future OTAs and there is also 4.3 ML2 which is rootable and you will be able to receive 4.4 ota if it is ever made available to us. Choose wisely my friend.

yeah. is 4.2.2 mf1 rootable? can any of these install custom roms or safestrap 4.4 roms?
4.2.2,is probably your best bet for now. Safestrap is fully functional on mf1. Some users are unable to create ROM slots on 4.3 so maybe wait till safestrap is fixed then update to 4.3

Don't install the official kitkat. If you do then you'll really be stuck. For now I think you can get root through kingo. Or you can go back to mj5 and get root for sure.

do u know which version of kingo root can i do that?
Cant root that unofficial kk, or not yet at least. Best way is to revert back to mj5 then get root, then follow jb to kk threads here if you really wanna be on kk.
I need to return my phone to out of the box fresh. I've been reading and searching and I'm finding info about Odin and MJ5, but I'm not sure which I need to do. The only thing I've done to my phone is root it (then unroot it) with Kingo. I unrooted it, so I could apply the stock 4.4.2 upgrade, but it fails. So now I want to return it to its original state so I can try the upgrade again. I want to keep it close to stock, because I need to use phone encryption so I can use it for work as well. I really need someone to point me in the right direction.

Thanks!! It's really involved, but I completed and it and now my phone is running 4.4. If anyone else tries it, makes sure you follow every step.
This my sound like a dumb question, but I am going to as any way. I bought a used note 3 and the previous owner had rooted it and installed saftystrap and installed a rom to the stock slot but made no back up. I searched but could not find stock 4.2.2 firmware. Any one know where I could find it. My phone is working great but would still like the option of having the stock files just incase. thanks in advance for the help.

i dont think the note 3 had 4.2.2 software just 4.3 and 4.4.2

So I have been a little out of touch with Xda for a while now. I'm still on mi9 and have the one click exe to restore if necessary. I have safe strap installed with stock mi9, knoxraid, and X note in my slots.
What's the safest way to upgrade right now? I'd like to be in a similar situation with an Odin to restore to or at least a one click or something after upgrading. Thanks in advance.
