Hey guys,
I'm currently using one of the first ROM's that came out for the M7 - the GEonSense Rom - with (I think) the Bulletproof kernel for underclocking/BLN.
With 4.3's release and the additional S-Off stuff, I figured it might be good to get those going soon as well.
So, my question for you guys is this - which new rom should I flash?
What I'm looking for:
- AOSP lockscreen - why I went with GE on Sense in the first place
- stable - GEonSense has so far been rock-solid, without the random apps FC'ing
- everything working - I use the camera, the IR sensor, the bluetooth, the wifi, what not. I don't need cutting edge performance, but I need the various pieces of hardware working.
It's cool if there's not really anything that checks these boxes, but thanks for reading, and double thanks in advance for a response.
I've had my one for a month and have tried quite a few roms, but my favorite that I recently installed is the ViperOne rom, Its a sense rom. Don't know if it fits your needs, but its a very good rom, alot of customizing built in, check it out.
I've only had my One for about 10 days, so I'm no expert. But I've been here on XDA since 2008 and just came from a DNA, so not too far off the mark. I've been playing with all the One ROMs I can find here and I've been really impressed with, and have settled on, the SinLess ROM for now. I may change, but it's got everything I want (except Zoe, since it's not Sense) and everything it does have works. I know you asked for Sense, so I'm probably not helping much, but I like Sense as well and I find I really like this GE ROM.
i've had my one for a few months now and tested a lot of roms even kitkat ones. however theres always one rom i revert to every single time and that is Android Revolution HD 31.5 with the bulletproof kernal. very, very stable and definitely my favorite rom. no aosp lockscreen but it has sense.
Well, Viper one has aosp lockscreen and sense 5.5, so go for it, you'll love the possibilities of what you can do

Hey,
i would like to know if there is any alternative ROM for the work of MoDaCos Desire-Port? His version doesn't seem to work for me. I have call wonks and could not resolve the issues withe dewonkificator
I would like to have the stock desire version
Any chances?
THIS any good for you?
Yeah that would be nice
But that ROM is toooo alpha for me, though i didn't try it by myself (just read from others). Seems that i have to wait for that ROM to be finished.
Though i had similar experiences on my old HD2 -> the small and clean desire-ROMs were always a lot faster than the new ports
What makes you want a Desire ROM in the first place? If it's just the Sense 'look', like the clock for instance, you could achieve that with various widgets and apps.
firstly i find the sense-thing very attractive....
secondly i am sure that the camera works very well with the desire-port - especially i want wide screen (that has no stock foryo or gingerbread)
3. I want everything working and all those CM7 release candiates don't satisfy me with their wonks
I dont know, but i think with htc sense one could get the most instant access to applications and so on - everything is thought out quite well and it takes minimal effort to get done things done.
The eye-candy is not so important...
What would you recommend?
P.S.: i need it smooth
Use the older Sense ports, Froyo, from Desire or Desire HD.
Look for eVIL D:'s ROMs, or MicroMod's.
MM's HD Desire is very good and stable, love widescreen
Read Op page before flashing
Need 1gb ext
Hi Folks,
I've had the HTC Desire C for a while now, and have tried a few different ROMS to date. I'm currently running Nameless 5.03 on it (a bit old, i know)
I have a couple of questions really.
Ok, first off, what is the fastest, most stable ROM for this phone, as lately it's slowness has become annoying.
(I haven't tried overclocking yet or any of the other optimizations (scripting), but I'm willing to go there if i can't get a decent result with a ROM.)
Secondly, I've noticed in the music app, there are little interruptions sometimes with the smoothness of the music, which is annoying. I then check Task Manager and there is lots of crap running in there. I close most of it.. but later on it's runnig again.
Is it safe to remove these apps/packages altogether (I'm assuming it as, as the phone runs perfectly without them running)
And lastly, is there a ROM out there that is mostly stirpped down with all of these crapps removed already. I suppose what I'm trying to achieve is a streamlined and as fast as possible phone, without all the crapps.?
All answers welcome.. cheers! :good:

UPDATE
R: [Q] Fastest, most stable Peared-Down ROM
I'm running revolution De-Sene rom, and it's a bit faster than nameless because it's without sense (which make the phone slower). Anyway, nameless 7 is more stable and faster than nameless 5, but I didn't tried slim sense yet, maybe it's better than these...

slim sense is not better than revolution, because it's older and is still in 1.0.
the dev has left the forum and the rom hasn't had any bugfixes yet. i wouldnt suggest even trying slim sense

Is the CYG rom good?

Sense is hard-coded into the Revolution base. It's not without Sense, sure, Sense launcher is not its default and it's made to look AOSP-ish, but it's still Sense.
For the record, I'm using the latest Nameless now and I'm happy with it.
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to move onto Nameless 7.x today and give it a shot.
Think I will try the OC'd kernel too and might have a play with some of the scripts etc. if i get time.

In all honesty speed wise theres no difference in my eyes between all the major roms .
Pick which rom appeals to you , oc it with the kernel that works best with your rom and then strip the guts out of the rom after installation . Thats delete all the crap that comes on these phones.
Then you will have a fast rom
IF you enjoy listening to music then imho Revolution> Nameless by quite a margin IF you install Kingbeatz . As Kingbeatz > all those awful beats mods that are on nameless .
If you do follow my suggested route delete Apollo music player and use your favourite one as it can be quite buggy. Just be sure to try Apollo first to get an indication of the sq that is achievable . Then try your fav player and see if Kingbeatz actually works with it .
Just ask in the thread and I'll hepl if I can or Russ will otherwise .
Hope this helps
all the best

Just wanted to say I'm running Russell's Revolution rom with the 800 oc'd kernel and it's great. The phone has never been smother. I'm a happy camper!

Let's hope your not a happy camper on call of duty, otherwise I will hunt you down my friend.

Up top, this isn't a "best ROM" or "what should I run" sort of thread. It's also a topic that can easily provoke rage so please don't think that I'm trying to convince anyone of one thing or another. This is just me being curious.
After starting with Android a few years ago, I've noticed an increasing amount of "flashing fatigue" setting in lately. Sure, I'll root (because I have a lot of utility apps that require root), but the appeal of custom ROMs is fading fast. The Google Edition port was my latest (and longest standing) ROM for my One, and before that I'd tried one or two stock-derivative ROMs (save one bad AOSP experience back when we had sleep of death going on). I'm back to stock now, and trying a "fuller" experience (no launcher replacement, etc.-- minus root, again, for some XPosed tweaks like disabling the NFC icon).
This phone's now been out a while, so I'm curious: how many of you have "settled down" so to speak on one side or the other?
The first Android I owned was an Epic 4G and then Epic 4G Touch. Both left a ton to be deaired from a software standpoint and I easily flashed 3 dozen or more different roms between those two phones.
Flash forward to the HTC One and I've never felt the need to leave the stock ROM. I do use the Google Experience Launcher and have replaces some of the stock apps with better versions from 3rd party devs, but honestly I don't really see a point. Performance, battery life and functionality all seem to have hit a perfect balance with this phone. And like you suggested, the fatigue of flashing is really heavy these days especially since I'm not looking to fix a flaw or add a feature. Although once a working KitKat ROM hits us I will probably root and flash just to get a feel. Though admittedly I've always found the bone stock look of Android to be lacking visually.

The very first phone I flashed over to a custom firmware was the LG G2X from T-Mobile. The android experience on that phone was very tasteless and bloated. Support from LG was less than non-existent. I found that I couldn't really stand using the phone on stock so I flashed a few different roms until I landed on eaglesblood. Although there was a lot broken on eaglesblood, I found it an upgrade to stock. Fast forward like Adam described and I have been on the HTC One for nearly 6 months. In that time I have flashed perhaps a few custom roms. In the end, I reverted back to stock. The One is a solid phone from both a software and hardware stand-point. I find myself checking my BlinkFeed a few times an hour and if I am on a senseless ROM I feel lost without it.
Tl;dr I have no need to ever leave stock. Stock rooted is good enough for me.

I've been running RageOne and have found it to be more than enough from what I need for my HTC one
Same here. I started with Hero, then Evo Shift, Evo 3D, Evo 4G LTE and now The One. I previously always rooted and flashed multiple roms until found one that like and stable enough for daily use. With the One, I honestly haven't done nothing to it. I find it prefect for everyday use. No problem was so ever. At times I feel weird because I never had an HTC or android phone for less than a week without rooting it and etc, but with the One no need since good as is.
I know also pending amount of developers we have currently since most leave to develop in other phones or carrier based phone model is what we can choose from roms available which is less than the other carrier model.

The HTC One is my first non Nexus smartphone, so dealing with all the bloat that comes with Sense and stock has been hard for me. When I was using my Nexus S 4G I used Slim Rom and loved it for its minimal nature and stuck with it. Slim bean 4.3 stable has been a great rom for me, though now that the 4.4 builds are out I've found them more suitable for a daily driver. Slimkat is awesome and I personally cant wait for it to reach stable. Minimal is my cup of tea, add in Google Experience Launcher and I'm one happy guy.
I had a Hero, then a whole bunch of Shift4G's. Rooted all of those because I could make them noticeably faster, increase the battery life, and get rid of apps I didn't use.
With the One, it's already fast enough that I wouldn't notice an increase much. The battery life is great for the way I use it, I recently had a stretch that was nearly 40 hours off the charger (obviously I didn't use it a heck of a lot during that time). And being able to hide the apps I don't want from the app drawer means I forget they're even there. Because of that, I haven't seen a good reason to put a different ROM on this phone...yet
Since I got my hands on an HTC One I haven't stopped messing with it by switching from one ROM to another, and I can't decide which ROM should I stay with.
When I'm using a Sense based ROM, there are moments when I miss some features from Stock Android, and when I'm on SA I miss Sense's features. So I keep constantly switching from one to another(I mean switching/converting my phone to the GPE one and vice versa).
This ROM switching issue has almost got my phone unusable several times.
I need to stop in order to avoid getting my phone into a really serious problem.
So I ask you, guys:
Which ROM do you think it's best and why, in comparison to the other one? (Sense 6 vs Stock Android)
Thanks in advance.
The best way for you to decide which to use would probably be to list what features you miss from both Sense and Stock and then see which features, out of those listed, you feel is more important/you miss the most.
Personally, I much prefer Sense 6 than GPE, AOSP & AOKP. When I first got the M7, I was spending a hell of a lot of time flashing different ROMs and seeing what my experience of each was like. I found that Sense 5 (and all other Sense updates since then) simply performed better. The main difference was the smoothness of the ROM.
I'd tried a couple of different GPE ROMs and, while they were stable and really smooth, they just weren't quite as smooth as Sense felt. The difference was even more noticeable when I tried AOSP ROMs.
The other main reason why I much prefer Sense is because a few of the Sense features only work on Sense. As that was the case, staying on Sense ROMs ever since just makes the most "sense" in my opinion
I'll have to say it's almost like sense has more 'features' than other comparable roms. It feels better built and looks better. On my M8 I'm running sense, and that's my opinion.
Well if we are just venting. My opinion is the GPE and AOSP versions are just too plain. The first thing you do on GPE is go looking for a different launcher / camera and music player. In Sense you already have a great camera / music app / gallery / Dialer / and launcher. The settings area is well laid out and blinkfeed is usable after all the improvements they have made. I have Samsung / LG / and Moto devices and they are all awkward and clumsy compared to Sense. LG would be my second favorite and Samsung and Motorola tied for last.
Dear Friends,
I know there is no straight forward answer to this question as we all have different preferences but I would like to know what roms you are using and which ones are worth recommending to people including me who have just rooted their device. There are SO many roms out there and many are similar feature wise but some that are different are either buggy or doesn't work as stated. In other words, there is so much to choose from so trying out every new ROM feels pretty much the same with few or less customization options.
I have a difficult time sticking to one rom as so far I have only tried ViperOne, Android Revolution and Cyanogenmod. ViperOne had a lot of features which didn't work and it was kinda buggy, Cyanogenmod is nice & fast but its way too simple and then Android Revolution seemed to have a feel of stock rom and it was quite stable but then again it all felt the same. I am yet to come across a single rom which makes me feel like "this is the one for me".
Can you suggest any roms or different kernels to use with that particular rom that has good UI, is user and battery friendly? And also that it is stable with the features it provides, which is not buggy.
Exodus is the ROM I would recommend with a theme of your choice.
I would recommend Android Revolution HD because it is as stable as you said. I bought the M7 because of the nice UI, BoomSound, Zoe etc. If you want to keep this features you should stay as stock as possible
So i would stay on Stock or ARHD and use Xposed Framework to mod the hell out of your phone. On ARHD there ist a great toolbox called Sense Toolbox which uses Xposed and offers a wide variety of tweaks and shotcuts. Stock Android is boring and looks the same on every phone so keep the uniqueness of your HTC. Just my opinion
