[Q] Flashlight brightness - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.We were walking at night with my friend in a park.We decided to test our flashlights. We turned them on and boom...my friend has an unrooted SGS2 and it had atleast 2x the power of my flashlight. So the next day i searched on how to increase the brightness of led and got to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086074
Added these lines but absolutely no change whatsoever. Can you help me or have another method?
Note:i am rooted and my bootloader is unlocked
Sorry for my poor english

down at "edit" is written:
"An alternative would be install pimp my Rom app, use flash led tweaks from it, reboot, then search build.prop for the lines mentioned above, edit them according to the above mentioned lines, save them and then reboot and find the difference in flash led in camera app (when the camera captures a pic, you will notice the difference) or, in custom roms, using just the flashlight app can show the difference."
did you try that?

Yea i did,on cm 10.1 and stock rom...no effect

[STOCK FIX] 8/Apr r1: Stock Fix Pack - Camera with brightness fix + silent camcorder

This download is a fix pack for STOCK ROMs. It should work on all v10 ROMs, but always do a backup in ClockworkMod Recovery first!
This fix pack resolves the issue where the Camera app can launch with minimum brightness when using the auto brightness mode. It also removes the annoying Camcorder beep.

Thanks, it works !
V10b
Didn't work for me Running V10a, don't know which date.
EDIT: It seems that it did work after all, I just misread the description... I have this problem where all apps that use the camera (like barcode scanner) boots up with a very dark picture and doesn't adjust the exposure, and I thought the fix posted here fixed that Oh well, it's probably just a bug i barcode scanner.
I've the same bug with a barcode scanner app.
The fix don't fix this ...
works perfectly! Paul, could you please add autofocus while recording a video?
Is it me or is there a visible decrease in quality of the videos taken after this fix has been implemented? I also realised the camera flash is also not working so optimally after using the fix.
Initially, it was smooth to move the camera's view across places with differences in exposure and the "light flickers" weren't so obvious. Now it's pretty obvious...
Is there any patch to improve photo quality? Thx.
Alright. Sorry to be a pain but I forgot to do a backup in recovery and I seriously find the camera to be sluggish now.
I used to be able to move around and it wouldn't lag at all but now, it's lagging pretty obviously.
I would like to know if it's possible to just flash the original camera app to get it back into its original form since this patch should only have changed stuff within it, right?
If so, it would be great if someone let me know where I can get the original camera apk or zip.

[Q] Screen Darken When using stock Camera

I just got my O2x phone day before yesterday ,and everything was fine until I started downloading and installing apps from google market. Now when I activate the stock camera the screen darkens and a bright day scene looks like a very overcast day on the screen.
The pictures taken turned out ok and bright .
Anyone ever experience that ?
This problem makes it difficult to take still pics and videos.
Can anyone help ?
LGE version :LGP990-v10a
this is a bug...to solve, do it:
- set brightness to 100% (manual)
- set brightness to automatic
- run camera app

[Q] [BOUNTY] Screen rotation on ICS

This problem has annoyed me for way to long, so i'll pay $50 USD to anyone who can help me.
No matter what i do, i cannot get screen/auto rotation to work properly on any ICS rom. It will stay portrait mode no matter what. Auto-rotation works fine on any Froyo/Gingerbread rom i use. Flashed every ICS rom available. I've tried the following:
1. Turning on auto-rotation in Settings>Display
2. Toggling auto-rotate in Settings>Display while the phone is turned landscape
3. Toggling notification widget orientation icon
4. Reflashing/Wiping everything/flashing and wiping (don't get me started)
The only app that actually rotates for me is Camera.
Accelerometer Values app from market tells me everything is fine.
wow dude i don't really know what to say. I did try team icssgs's RC3.1 a while back and everything worked great. Actually, i can even say i was rather impressed on how ICS handled screen rotation. Had that turning iphone-like effect and worked every single time perfectly, no matter what i was running, as long as it was enabled on settings.
Any chance you might have some app interfering with screen rotation? like some toggle widget or something?
Wish you good luck mate

nope happens on any newly flashed fresh ICS rom
Lol, I'm very doubtful that my solution will work, but if you're desperate enough you can try and who knows, I might win 50 bucks
First answer me this: On your last Gingerbread Rom, you had the ability to turn off all animations in the Settings -> Display menu.
Did you turn off all animations?? If yes, read my solution. If no, stop reading here
So, you answered yes. Here's my proposal:
1. Flash a Gingerbread ROM again. Turn ON all animations.
2. Flash your desired ICS ROM

on gingerbread, i would always turn on all animations
but that wouldnt do anything since flashing a new rom wipes everything
What launcher are u using?
Howdy!
On ICSSGS 4.2 and Semaphore 9.0 the turning works fine for me. That is in apps that support it. The launcher for instance doesnt - the clock does.
You could try installing the ES Task Manager and check whether the turning is on there. Also you could check appropriate apps for your Kernel/Rom -- sometimes you can turn stuff on and off there, as well.

I'm on THS Experimental Build, but Build 16 should be the same.
1. You didn't mention this, but Settings > Launcher > General > Auto-Rotate Screen
This is using Trebuchet Launcher, but it should be similar on any other ICS Launcher, under the Settings "Interface" list.

Likely its because of the changes in windoworientationlistener.Java its been changed to absolute values so now you have rotation_angles instead of rotation_mode where sensor libs would return 2 3 4 5 depending on degrees 0 90 180 270 now it looks for actual degrees rotationinstead of numbered modes
try ics slim. Settings -ASS - General UI - set rotation delay. and ofcourse set on the rotation.

I have the exact same problem. I have tried everything I found on these forums and still no resolve. I use semaphore kernel 1.0.0 and ICS Slim rom on a samsung galaxy s phone. I can see the explination for our problem but what is the solution ? How can we correct those variables ? Thank you in advance !

I wish I had tried some games... all I can say for certain is that it works in the camera app and sensor test apps like GPS Status. So it seems like it comes down to the system UI not interpreting the sensor readings correctly.

I suggest you try it out with some games too.. coz if it's a rom issue, it can't be with every rom..
Even the games don't directly access the accelerometer.. Goes through the kernel which controls the hardware.. If it works in games, should work in the roms which have accelerometer working fine..
This annoyed me for a while... It worked fine on THS ROM with Trebuchet launcher. I switched to AOKP, and couldn't get it to work, tried a few others that all failed. After a couple of months, I'm back to CM9 on nightlies (with Semaphore 1.2.0) and rotation works perfectly, couldn't be happier.
Maybe try CM9?

Confirmed the accelerometer DOES work in games.
So it works in the camera and 3rd party apps like sensor tests and games. Does not work in any launcher, the stock browser, gallery, or other system apps.
Also tried the the latest Team Nyx release - not working there either. I've tried the latest CM9, ICS333, AOKP... it doesn't work in any of them.

Custom Auto Brightness values

Hello everybody!
I flashed some days ago the latest version of the Gueste2X ROM (v3.2), and it works great!
Btw, autobrightness it's not that good for me, I would like to edit the various level to fit it to my preferences; I read on Cyanogenmod's forums that in Menu-> Settings-> Cyanogenmod Settings-> Display there should be a config menu where you can edit these levels, but it's not present in my ROM.
Is it possible to edit the framework-res.apk to adjust levels as I want? I read something about it in this forum too, but I would like to know if someone of you did that yet.
Thanks you in advance!
Use the "Touch Brightness" application included in this rom.
Also: CM Settings -> Interface -> LED Notifications
Hello, thanks for your reply.
Seems you are referring to the softkey button, which brightness it's ok for me; i was referring to the LCD backlight. Is it possible to change its brightness, even editing the framework apk?
Thanks again!

I am not quite sure. But i think this is not possible on the o2x, coz of some driver issues
its possible, but not with the stock light sensor, but use the front camera light sensor its possible.
try the 'Lux Auto Brightness' app from the market.
Hey Vadonka, I've got Lux Auto Brightness installed on my Optimus 2X running CM7 (temasek-100) with your 3.x Kernel but I can't seem to get Lux to read any of my sensors right?
Maybe I'm using the wrong settings but I find Lux Auto-Brightness to be completely useless for this phone, it always reads "lux" as 20, or "luma" as 255?
Do you have it working properly on yours?

Led Control on 6 Marshmallow

Anyone get LED notifications working? On 5.1.x I didnt need to buy an app, assume it was barrier in the custom kernel. Right now I am using ElementalX-N6 kernel and they specify colour control yet I cant seem to get it activated. I even bought a few apps and then only time the LED comes on is when charging even though I tell the app which colour for each activity and also tried the different modes. Is this just me or does the code need to be updated for Marshmallow? Sorry if this has already been answers but the threads I read didnt work for me.
Thank You,
DFL
+1 from me, I haven't yet updated to mm because I want the LEDs
I am on Chroma custom rom I also use ElementalX kernel. To control the led I use Light Flow from google play. Make sure that you enable from within that app in the device setting and root: "derect mode, root mode, run every command as root" these 3 options need to be enabled. Good luck!
