Hi all,
Today I found out my speakersound is not working properly.
The external speaker on the back works fine but when I start Walkman and want to play a song there is no sound.
I believe that my phone thinks that the headset is plugged in.
I have tried the following:
- Reflash stock
- Factory reset
- On/off device
It just doesnt work.
Anyone got a solution before I get my bud to a repair centre?
please use service test
Done, there is absolutly no sound. Only when i really plug my earphones in.
Also a funny thing. Normaly when you open FM radio without earphones it ask yo plug them in. But with me there was no popup this tells me that there is a problem with my 3.5mm jack
Hey a friend had the same problem with his HTC phone. he downloaded the app Headphone blocker (or similar) from the play store and that worked. maybe you'll use it temporarily?

oh,ok.. by the way i had the same problem but i just had to plug in the headphone for short and then it worked fine and the problem never came again. or you shut down the phone for a while?
tried it all.
Shut down lay it away for an hour. Plugged earphones in and put it way for a while..
I really dont know what to do..
Also; it is only with "media" files becasue i hear when someone calls me or sent me a text message. Changing volume is something i can hear to. I just need to reset so that it is not in headset mode any more
hm.. okay.. and where exactly comes the problem? only with walkman or also with youtube or instant buttons or something like that? and can you hear something, if you go to dialer and *#*#7378423#*#* then go to service test and loudspeaker?
oops okay saw it too late ^^ these are the same "symptoms" like I had. If you plug in your earphones, the music for examples functions, right? and if you let the music play and you plug them out while letting the music play it stops?
The problem occurs with everything that uses the speaker. For example youtube. There is absolutly no sound unless i use my headphones. The same is for walkman, apollo and many others.
The service tests dont work. Since i cant hear a thing unless i use my headphones
No the music dont stop when i unplug my headphones
Okay.. but it is loudless.. that's quite difficult ^^ if it thinks the headphine is in did you try to kind of clean the headphone jack connection by blowing into it e.g.?
Okay; very very late response but from me.
I've tried a lot of solutions but a very very weird one worked from me. My speakers are functioning again.
What I did.
After the response above I just blowed a bit air in it. I just, yes very weird, licked the 3.5 mm plug that goes inside in the phone and played a song.
When I removed it the Walkman stopped playing. I thought it was me that I pressed a button or something. So I plugged it back in pressed play and after two songs I removed my earphones and yet again, the music stopped.
WOW it worked!
So I pressed play again and Krewella played through my speaker again!!
So, licking it seems to work? :silly:
Probably because of dust between the contacts inside the hole.
Good you got it sorted

If I receive a call while I have headphones connected through the USB connector the ringer sounds through the phone speaker as well as the headphones (Normal profile). On every other phone I've had, inserting headphones into a jack socket mutes the external speaker.
Is this peculiar to the S730/Wings or the custom USB connector? Is there a fix or hack for it?
I could put the phone on vibrate but then I wouldn't hear the ringtone through the headphones - or probably remember to switch back to Normal when finished!

thats odd, mine just rings thru the headphones, not the phone speaker.
sometimes the music comes out of the speakers eventhough the headphones are plugged in. this is very stupid when im in the bus or train....
it suddenly happens and cant be cured (need to restart)
how can i avoid this?

The ExtUSB port is designed with a metal contact on the square side (on the "back" of the port) to detect the headphones. Make sure that the contact is made. This may or may not be the problem; but it's a good starting point.
I'm thinking not in my case because the ext speaker is muted for music but an incoming call will activate it?
It sounds like something software related but I don't know where to look.
I had a look at a friend's Kaiser yesterday and that does exactly the same thing (and I tried their HTC media controller in my Wings), so it doesn't look like it's exclusive to this model.
Yes. This was posted also by darksider:
if im listening to music with any application through the earphones, it makes-that the sound is at once also playing through the phone speaker, and i have to restart
hey i have the same problem....
if i am listening to music using the headphone and i become a call, then the ringtone comes through the speakers and also the music that i am listening to.
this is a big problem..
thanks
any solution??!?!
I suffered the same problem in the bus, and was very embarrassed because everybody looked at me and I didn't notice...
You have to report this problem to HTC (or reseller). More responses = better chance to find the solution in upgrade. But you HAVE TO DO IT!!!

EXACTLY the same thing happened to me!!!!!
reporting to the reseller an htc doesnt do anything. the reseller is an idiot an not a professional HTC reseller.... hes gonna be like: WTF are u talking about dude??
and htc support is the biggest crap on the planet...
I can't make calls, listen to mp3's or even listen to the radio...
Can someone please help...
The last thing I installed on my x1 was Xtrackt game, the Growing panel, the new panel manager, the new Media Xperia Panel.....
I've had that happen a couple of times, I was out and about at the time, and just switched it off/on a few times, as well as reinserting/removing the headphones. That seemed to fix it for me.
i also jiggled the stylus in the headphone socket a couple of times which fixed it ...
Plug in the headphones, lock the phone, unlock it, and remove the headphones again.... hopefully that should solve it.
Thanks for the pointers, its still not working...
arghhhh....this is so frustrating!!!!
wat radio r u using????
well I don't use the radio that often, but the one inside the Media Xperia Panel....
I had this problem too. And got it resolved.
I also had this problem, couldn't use my phone unless i had the headset on. Soft reset, hard reset, put my stylus in the headphone jack, and the headset jack in and back out. Nothing worked. I restored my phone back to the original SPL, and factory restore with the newest Update. Called Sony Ericsson up and they had me send it to a Certify Sony Repair Store. Took about 4 days and i got it back working and seems to be functioning better than before.

Yeah, did the same...
The final option for me would be to take the phone apart myself and reassemble...or take it back to Sony...
i have had same problem and it worked again well after few softs resets. (with a stock rom)
i dint knowed if it this was a "physical error" (something with the conector) or some soft error...
the only good thing is that u can listen the radio without have the headset pluged in
so my question is:
any wat to do this for hearing radio withous headset? LoL
me 2 same problem here ... but what i did was plug in my headset and started up media player listening to music. Then would unplug the headset open the slider keyboard then slide it shut back fast and hard. This I observed by accident as it would glitch i suppose and the headset icon would go away. I would be fine with the phone being able to use without headset.
ive had the same problem in the beginning with my X1. i Found out that if i put my stylus in and move around with it, it will not show the headphone any more. guess the sensor is not worked out so well...
anyway, i can put my stylus in the headphone hole and listen to the radio without headphones
this happened to me when i used the stylus as a antenna - just stick it in there and jiggle it about
camera on and off worked too
I tried all of the above methods and the following worked in the end (i cant make the bug happen again, so I have no idea which steps were neccessary)
I slid the slider open with headset plugged in, unplugged the headset then pressed (accidentally) the camera button on the right side of the phone. When I quit the camera mode the headset icon was gone.
HELP
Assalamualekum
My phone has stucked to headset . I've hard reset it, even installed new rom. btw I'm using energy rom. I don't use headset btw.
Ok so at work I use my phone as my improved iPod. So lets say I pause the song that I was playing and shut the screen back off. My problem occurs when I unplug the headphones from the jack is that it all the sudden starts playing music again, and the phone doesn't register its playing. I have to quickly goto the music app hit play and pause again to get it to stop.
Anyone else have this?
CM 5.0.5.3
Also ran 5.0.5.1 experimental build
its because the headphone jack supports (4 pin i think) headsets that have the skip/play/pause buttons on them and the headphones you are using prolly are only the 2 pin ones without the extra buttons...
I've defintely reproduced this bug. Im not quite sure what i did that caused it but it was very weird, i had to go to the music app and press play and stop again. At first i brought down the notifications slider and i was like wtf. I am also on 5.0.5.3

Is there anyone that can confirm this? That would be pretty nifty.
Edit - nvm the headphones that come with the nexus have the control thing. Ill test this out to see if it still does the bug.

I also have this bug. Are you using MusicZing Lite? It happens to me all the time, and sometimes I have to restart the phone. It's very annoying.
BTW It happened to me using the stock headphones and my sony inline control headphones so yes I can confirm it happens to 4 pin connetions.
From what I understood though CM said its an app problem.

Nah, I'm just using the stock Music app. =/
On a side note - it happened to me at school last night, should have seen the look on everyones faces when my phone started blasting After the Burial. lol
It just did it to me right now. What i did exactly was i was going to listen to a song on my phone (im at work) with my headphones and so i plugged them in, but then i realized i can just stream it from somewhere on my work computer and so i unplugged them before i even opened the music app and it started playing my music. Hmmm this bug is starting to get annoying.
and my headphones are not 4 pin
Autostarts is available on the market - it should allow you to disable this feature/bug.
I believe it's 'Headset plugged or unplugged' - just disable the Music player and you should be good to go.
Cheers
If you're already happy with MixZing, ^3, or one of the other third party music apps, you could also just delete Music.apk; this also fixes the problem.
(Noted as following: playing music in any app via headphones, stop music, unplug headphones, music would start playing via the music app only; IE, despite not having used music app in that session, I'd have to open it, and play&pause to stop the music).
Problem is now gone, along with Music.apk.
so i have a microphone problem. In calls (only in) calls the person whom im speaking with won't hear me. It's not a hardware problem, cuz the microphone works in recording sounds/movies, even in services tests the both microphones seems to function. It hapened first time when i pluged out my headset. Seems that the phone forgot to get bag to its internal mike. So i pluged in again the headset and after pluging them out everything worked perfect. But now hapenned again i tried pluging in and out the headset in million ways the mike wont turn itself on again. As i Said i searched on google, i deactivated the noise reduction and i installed soundabout apk. With this apk it works a little bit, i mean the one whom i speak can barely hear me (better than nothing i guess), but i want to fix this crap. I mean its a PHONE, i should TALK with it. Thank you in advance
-(
with my tx on ics this happened with me but not the mic it was the speakers the phone kept recognizing that that the headset is still pluged in
so here is the advice i read here in xda JUST PLUG IT IN and OUT realy fast while you playing a song on walkman keep doing it realy fast for 5 times maybe +- once the song stop workin stop doing it you are fine to go now hope that will help you
Hello, I just bought new Xperia Z1 on thursday. I wanted to test all features of this amazing device. Yeah.. after testing most of them I had to test waterproofness, so I made sure all covers were closed. So I put the phone under the faucet for 5 seconds to clear it from dust (headphone jack got wet for sure), then I left it on my desk for a while. After 1.5-2 hours I was going to watch a movie but after connecting my headphones to headphone jack nothing happened, it didn't detect my headphones, I said 'okay nevermind, lets leave it for a night'. Today I woke up, but still.. no luck. Headphones jack ain't responding to any headphones. Should I wait few more days or just reclamate it? I'm scared it might void warranty and I have to buy new device.
Thanks for help.
Kind regards,
Earl

Yes I tried 4 different pairs but didn't work. The original ones I recieved with Z1 works fine on my PC and TV.
Cleaned it with cotton swabs, but no water in there or anything, used also compressed air. Waiting for advices.
Not sure if this help, do a Factory Reset. If this will fix that mean is something on your phone which compromising the jack audio. Then install one by one the applications and see which get you problems. Check also all the settings in Sound and Volumes if everything is ok.

I've done a system reinstall by update service 3 hours ago, didn't help. Sound and Volumes are okay. I think thats some hardware problem, but its weird since headphones jack should be totally waterproof, maybe something is still wet inside and I have to wait till it will get dry
Let's do a small test. Connect your phone via Bluetooth to the PC and Play some Music or Vids from Z1 and tell me if you can hear Music on your PC. Just connect and click listening Audio from Z1. Your PC will be used like a handset to listening music. So, do you hear anything?

You don't understand. Can you hear Audio from speaker? Yes. Then you put jack connector and the speaker turn off but the headphones do not working? Yes. Then try also via bluetooth reproduce music on PC or even on Bluetooth Handset, do you hear music? If you try we can understand if it's hardware or software problem. I will suggest also do a Factory Reset, do not matter the Update you did. After Updates is recommended a Factory Reset, so do it. Report later. Multimedia and WiFi have nothing to do with the problem.

Sorry to say but I think you have to go via Warranty and get it repaired. They will do it in few week. That's the procedures and regulations.
