Why I can't use my phone in Argentina? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have one I9000 with I9000XWJW1 / Gingerbread - Firm.2.3.6, and when I insert a pre-paid SIM card from Movistar in Argentina it can't connect to the network, I tried a manual search and connect, and always say to try later, but never works.
The phone was working good when I was in netherlands, and the SIM works ok on another samsung, different model and bought unlocked. The I9000 I unlocked it myself.
Can it be because of the IMEI it has now (00499************)?

anyone there?

Check if the baseband of your FW is compatible with Argentina's mobile networks.
If not, you can flash another firmware that is.
EDIT:
Ouch.... OK, I see now that you've lost your IMEI.... (0049...)
Flashing Gingerbread JVU firmware usually restores it. Good luck!

Maybe it's racist.

Does it work now until backup/restore your IMEI like tetakpatak wrote ???

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S I9000 No Service!

Hope Someone can help.
I had a problem with my Samsung galaxy s i9000 and i was told to flash it using Odin, i downloaded the files from sam firmware and put android 2.3 onto it, when it had completed the phone will not get a service, everything else works fine and it reads the sim card and the contacts etc it just wont connect to network?
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Josh
Does it work wireless ?
Does it get phone network, or both data and phone services are unavailable ?
Do you have in wireless and network settings under mobile network the "use data packet" switched on ??
Did you try with a sim from another operator just to see if it's a matter of specific operator settings ?
I got italian language, maybe settings name are a bit different from the ones i mentioned, but that's the concept.
Bye

Check if your IMEI is correct, you find it under settings, about, status.
Your correct IMEI is on a sicker under the battery.

nope when i try and make a phone call or send a text it says "mobile network not available"
mmmm....
are you sure you downloaded the correct rom ? I mean there are different roms for different countries.
While you just reflashed, why dont you go back to original stock rom or to a stable one (one i remember is JPY_JPY_JPY) just to see if everything works fine ?
Anyway....which was the problem you had that required you to flash with odin ??
Yeah you prolly downloaded a rom fir another region if your imei is in tact and ya vant even make calls. If you can make calls and just cant use data then the rom doesnt have your apn settings and you will have to add them manually.

Have you bought it used with this problem?
If so there is a chance that the IMEI is reported stolen and blocked at the service provider.

Did you backup your efs partition before your flash?
If your efs partition got messed up you may have lost your IMEI - If that is the case and you don't have backup -- your only option might be the samung service center..
There are some firmwares that work for specific countries. Usually when you end up using a sim that is not supported by that baseband firmware. it wont read obviously. Where are you from anyways and why flash a HK Firmware?
perhaps, you must try to put your company APN manually.

Yep, but wifi is the only thing thats working. No data or mobile network, no GPRS either
Which network are you with and what settings do you have in APN ?
Would recommend ...flashing Rom and Re-Rooting*
I am wondering if it's just something in the connection settings. When I went to Japan last year I had to fiddle with something in the settings before I could pick up signals. It was in mobile networks. I think you can select cdma or something like that.

Im with Go Conquer in Ireland, actually brought the phone to a shop to be unlocked, as it was Vodafone, but they said it already was unlocked. They have their settings up on their website so I have entered them.
I'm going to try putting it back to its original settings again, and rooting it again, do you think that might be it? Ill also try the cdma settings.
Thanks to you both
Follow my Guide below to flash Rom and then Root it
Why did you go to a shop to unlocked it ...theres apps on here free??
Did you manage to get it right again? I'm having the same issue as you do. I did a factory reset with cwm and now when I enter the sim card it doesnt connect to network or 3g. Wifi does work. I am on original rom 2.3.5 and I dont know what to do. I tried a other sim and that didnt work either. Please advice. Thank you.

[Q] The problem with KU5900

Hi guys! I need your help. I read the forum, but did not solve the problem. I'll tell you more. Bought on ebay LG P970. I do not know what it KU5900. It was a firmware Android 2.3. Using the program LgMobileSupport put updated to version Android 4.0.4 After the update the phone does not boot, the screen inscription "olleh". I read the forums, and using a program SmartFlashTool put firmware lgp970_v30b_cis. The phone is loaded, but does not catch the network 3G. In 2G often loses the signal, especially from the base stations within the network. Still trying to reflash. Put Korean radio module firmware KU5900_CP.fls, and bin file European lgp970_v30b_cis_ap.bin In this case, the phone does not see the Sim card. If I put the Korean firmware V30I phone does not boot, the screen only logo LG. Tried way from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33881192&postcount=643 - also does not see the sim card. I understand the problem in the firmware radio module, how can fix this problem? Thanks in advance for your help.
