My son, bought a GT-N7000 off a friend and after rooting the phone and installing CM10.2 rom on it, he cannot make calls on it. Each time you try to make a call, it prompts you that, "mobile network not available" (please see the screenshots). He has tried flashing a stock rom (twice), toggling on & off airplane mode, tried manually configuring the APN, and also choosing the network manually. He has also tried using different sim cards, all to no avail.
Another thing of note is, he can use the mobile network to browse the internet & use apps (you can see evidence of the data signal in the photo), and his IMEI & phone numbers are visible and available. But the phone's serial number doesn't show.
Please any fixes or suggestions would be highly welcomed & appreciated. Thank you.
Did he backed up efs partition?

What are the first 4 digits of the IMEI and how many numbers in all? The note has a tendency to default to a developer imei at times which would cause this issue. If I remember correctly developer imei starts 0049.
If that's OK, may be worth having a look at the pins on the SIM slot, sometimes they can snap, just make sure they're there.

The first four digits are: 3595, and it has 15 digits in all. Next, I'll check the pins on the slim slot. Thank you so much for your input, I highly appreciate it :good:

I have a strangest of problem on my captivate. The IMEI is same as the one below the battery but with strange characters. It is like this:
IMEI/06
Is the IMEI corrupted? Or is it supposed to be like this. I have tried putting back the original nv_data back but the structure is still same. Any ideas?
Your imei number is 06?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
no bro. I am getting the original IMEI (say 123456789) but then it is followed by characters /06 ie
IMEI/06 (123456789/06)
Is it normal?
Perfectly normal. You're seeing the IMEI SV (software version number). Check the Wikipedia article on IMEI if you really want all the gory details.
Lol

Is this a problem if yes, Howww ?
Phone IMEI is the way it should be......by any chance are u from India
Got it. Thanks to psych0phobia.
@rkkaranrk - I thought it was a problem but it was not. Yes, I am from India.
I dont know if any other guy here went through this hysterical problem but yeah would like to inform those who flash more often without surmounting about thinking before doing it..
Also dev's i think this problem should be rectified immediately! !!
Here's what happened with (not so)lucky me
I flashed cm9 beta 2 directly over cm7 by tj_style..(edit wiped out data and dalvik cache too) and then after installation found out that my IMEI no. was null(0000000000000000)
Tried every possible legit method to restore my IMEI back but to no avail.
Googled everything but sooner got frustated
In the end i ended up in the samsung customer care center, acting all dumb like i had no clue about my phone and then there was my phone without imei.
I told them(care center ppl) that "last time i sent a text to a friend.
The next day i checked my cellphone , there was no signal coverage."
You know pretending like i had no clue about what the hell was happening and made out stories.
The funny part was that the center people believed everything.
Finally they took in my phone and gave it back after 2 and half weeks(after constant inquiring about my cell xD) & finally i had my original IMEI restored (salvage)
.
That was about my problem.
Still can't figure it out how my IMEI got washedoff adter flashing cm9 beta 2..
(Sigh).... .. but now I'm on the safe side. ^^
So i think its serious matter about wiping IMEI.. and it should be considred under attention.
Comeon guys i think this post needs atleast more discussion than this xD
Lol show some decency! !
lol

what is IMEI on a phone ?
IMEI(INTERNATIONAL MOBILE EQUIPMENT IDENTITY) no. is a number, usually unique, to identify GSM, WCDMA, and iDEN mobile phones, as well as some satellite phones. It is usually found printed inside the battery compartment of the phone. It can also be displayed on the screen of the phone by entering *#06# into the keypad on most phones.
The IMEI number is used by the GSM network to identify valid devices and therefore can be used for stopping a stolen phone from accessing the network in that country. For example, if a mobile phone is stolen, the owner can call his or her network provider and instruct them to "blacklist" the phone using its IMEI number. This renders the phone useless on that network and sometimes other networks too, whether or not the phone's SIM is changed.

I've read about the same issue with other devices when flashing roms. In some forums, they recommend to make a backup of the efs carpet from your phone before flashing roms.

this seems to be a problem woth the efs folder.... you have to go to the service center
it happened to me once, when I moved from froyo to gingerbread. I talked with a guy in store in Chile and with a box that he connected to my galaxy mini, he restored my IMEI. He did not even ask for an explanation just the money (which was like USD $ 1)
Lucky me we have those guys XD
komodin28 me too.
well this problem should be explained well..

When I woke up today, my simcard was not recognized by the phone like no simcard was installed? I tried my sim in other phones and it works.Does anyone had similar problems?
my phone is an unlocked int phone.

Yep, same happened to me just after 10 PM (PST). Unlocked International phone, N7000XXLA6
Restarting the phone didn't change anything -- had to turn it off, take out the SIM & put it back together before turning it on.
so you have resolved you problem? I tried that to but it didn't help :-(
I am going to send the phone to service, I think its the only solution for me. Samsung have put bad quality simtray in the note I think?

How long have you had the phone and what have you installed lately? I know obvious questions but need more info.
A member had problems with wi-fi turning off which turned out to be a battery saver configuration issue. So maybe some software you installed or changed lately?
Hi!
I tried a new battery and I had the battery all night and in the morning I had the icon of no som card recognized.

Same thing happened to me last week. While I was sleeping my wife got a text message from my phone stating that a new sim had been insterted into the phone and that it was stolen. I have track and protect intalled on my note to warn if someone tries to take out the sim.
This happened in the middle of the night and my note was on my bed stand charging. It looks like it lost connectvity with the SIM and the track and protect app triggered to send a text message.
The sim was detected fine when I woke up. It was just a wtf moment.
Hmmm. Had a similar problem on tmo. Apparently my sim card was old and wasnt capable of the new networks. Tmo gave me a free replacement and it worked fine. How old is your sim card? Mine was like 5 years old

Im having the same problem on Australian Network, the 'no sim' error continues to show after I have flashed 4 ROMs 3 kernels and 3 Radio Roms
How did you guys sorts this problem?
For me I sent the phone to service and they changed the motherboard.

Hmmmm may not help I have custom binary count at 4 and the yellow triangle.... I can't figure out how to get back to stock with both rom and kernel... I used the test kernel but it added more lol, any suggestions?

what is radio rom ?
Type *#06# and check IMEI. If it's like 000... or 0049... or just not match to your number under battery - Your EFS partition is corrupted. If you have a backup it's simple to restore if not check google - there are ways to restore imei. Of course You can give phone back to service.
And remember - always have the EFS backup. Mine was useful once

Hi everyone
My GNote was supplied with a network provided sim, the number of which was subsequently replaced by my existing mobile number (migrated officially via Orange UK).
The About Phone menu still reads the original number and I can't find any files (have tried .props etc) from which this data is read.
Id like to change the number. Any ideas?
Thanks

hello guys, I'm living in Romania and here all the cell phones numbers starts with 0 and when I save any cell phone number in my contact list and then phone it, the phone add +1
So if the phone number is 0735543829, when I call it appear +1 0735543829 so the number is totally different. What can I do to solve it ?
It only happens with the numbers which are stored in the contact list, so if I dial any number there's no problem.
Thank you
do you maybe have assisted dialing turned on?

Sv: why my Droid add a +1 to a phone number when it starts with 0 ?
I can confirm above, had the same problem when i first got the phone.
Sent from my DROID3 using xda app-developers app
Because here in the US the country code is 1 and there is a setting to add that I believe in call settings. It probably is assisted dialing but I think it is something else.
Sent from my XT862 using xda app-developers app
I think that these 2 entries in build.prop are related, you could try changing either or both to =0, reboot and see if that fixes the issue.
ro.cdma.nbpcd=1
ro.cdma.home.operator.isnan=1
That is of course if changing Assisted Dialing/Reference Country has no effect.
