I have been searching through the xda forums to find a 4.4 kernel for the nexus4 that's stock with being able to load modules.
I was wondering if someone with expertise in this area would build this?

I think we need to wait for kernel sources before Devs start building their custom kernels.

acually i did download franco kernel 194 but im facing a problem... when i start playing music and put the device to sleep, the music stutters. And when i wake the device again, the music plays fine. This doesn't always happen, but it does.
ah well... its a nightly anyway.
Thanks

Just tried that (connected not bluetooth headphones). No stuttering. CPU stats gives me a frequency of 384 (normal) when playing music.
For the record, no undervolting, no playing with frequencies..Just franco kernel 194.
Problem
Do you guys have any problems with flashing latest kernel?
I downloaded zip file through franco.Updater, flashed by CW recovery.
But then my N4 can't boot up. Just black. And after I re-flash the stock boot image, it booted up but still stock kernel.
I'm on KRT16S

I've just gotten around to loading the Slimbean ROM on my Exhibit II, and I'm loving it! Really awesome.
But still wondering, like in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33081432&postcount=2103, if it is possible to set up a virtual memory swap file with these kernels at all.
I'm still on the original kernel as part of the Slimbean ROM, since I had some odd troubles with the SpeedyGonzales ones (the 1.5 version never gets past the boot animation, and the other one does boot but WIFI is dead).
Is it possible?
only using custom kernel and using the swap mod i did but is no longer posted

Are they going to be re-posted somewhere?
I just tried the SpeedyGonzalez_OC.zip kernel again (I think this is 1.4?) that I downloaded from Blownco. It boots and I get all the OC options, but it still kills my wifi. I never loaded the OTA update to go to the UVLG3 update (I'm still on the original). Could that be why my wifi dies with the OC kernel?
Couldn't he just flash jocala ps then upgrade

I went through re-flashing it, using Peach Sunrise long enough to get the new baseband version.
Unfortunately, it still won't let WIFI work.
I've been running on stock CM10.1 since it was released. But, then, I wanted to try Semaphore. Alas, every time I flash it, after less then 3-4 hours, my SGS starts rebooting. I've tried it on like 10 or 12 different nightlies, starting from January. Any idea what's causing this? Any suggestions?
My specs are: SGS i9000, iNand version, CM10.1 latest nightly.
I must mention that i've even tried leaving Semaphore untouched after flashing, as in not changing any of the default settings. Sill, the same.
I hope you guys can help me out here. Thanks a lot!
I had same Problem only a full wipe solved it . Internal and external SD completly wiped.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Do a full wipe and cache and dalvik try then if not check semaphore settings with manager maybe some weird overclock settings
Already did full wipes w/ fresh install of CM10.1
As for Sema manager, I never did any OC on it.
Maybe your using the wrong kernel version check if your using the right one. S or no s version?

I used the non-S version, that's the one for CM10.1, isn't it?
This is bugging the hell outta me. I've tried 11 nightlies, including the M2 CM10.1. All the same, after no more than a few hours, the random rebooting starts.
Any other ideas?
@PB I've been experiencing the exact same issue with Semaphore for months.
I'm on a different variant (Vibrant), but the outcome is the same.
At this point, I've sort of given up & am chalking it up to something in the kernel (bigmem?) is incompatible with my particular device (kind of like how some phones can OC & remain stable while others of the exact same model cannot).
Did you ever figure out how to get it to play nice on yours? :fingers-crossed:
CM10.1 Lag Fix version 2
The first version by me is baked into cm10.1 by epinter already, this is the new one.
This update is made by me and will be baked into cm10.1 (epinter) as soon as he diffs it.
This build prop works okay*for me, but not 100%!
Instructions: To apply the tweaks and scripts to CM/PAC/CARBON etc...
(1. Download the attached file below.
(2. Flash it in Clockworkmod recovery.
(3. Enjoy.
What does this do? Enable both cores on high, free a tad more ram and graphics tweaks through properties and init.d...
VERY Close to fixing 100% of the problem. But I cant get my other source to work.
Download - Codex01-CM10.1PreformanceEnhancements-3.0.1.zip
so does battery life take a hit with both cores enabled?
No, I included more than performance there's now power saving, connection, and media init.d scripts and props.

Thanks thats good to know about to flash now.
Update: I definitely see a performance difference.
I tried it in PAC rom and its running smooth now. I notice that after i flash this, i can't proceed to CMW recovery. Anyone has the same problem? Im planning to back up this.thanks

Nope i get into CMW.
Is there a way i can recover CMW?
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
This does make everything a bit smoother. Animation is still kinda herky-jerky but for a ROM that's been around for less than a week developed by a guy who doesn't even own one (epinter says he doesn't have an MB886 available to him), this is super impressive.
Try flashing it again @ryuben2k. What version and which model, from what I hear, the Photon 4G LTE is not a good choice of recovery. Make sure you flash the Razr HD recovery. If all goes well with the millions of init.d scripts I'm writing I'll have version 3 by tomorrow.
Is this specifically for cm10.1 or will it work for PAC rom?
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
Yes, because PAC is a port into our cm10.1 sources. @worlddominatiin
Appreciate the work your doing looking forward to v3
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
@Swiftb12305 I'll have it up tonight for sure, something came up and I didn't feel like doing anything.
thanks! im waiting for the v3 too!
Okay might be a while because my Google site page for this got reformatted, and I'm trying to get some other stuff done, this may lead to the early to late am maybe even pm. Because of scripts for not only cm, PAC, and AOKP... But now root box too.... Hope you guys understand.

So later this night or tomorrow night?
No problem... I might be awake to try this out still...
I don't see any reason to not be patient...
No problem btw what will v3 include?
Sorry for my absence and delay of development, it was due to a family emergency. I'm not home right now, I'm using mobile hotspot while I'm in Daytona for a while. Hopefully I can get this project up. Please be patient while I'm syncing my sources now on my laptop.
To answer your question on what this update will contain: It will contain additional scripts in init.d, as well as a new sysctl script.
OP UPDATE: New Beta is up, not a whole lot of changes till tonight.
Sweet!
Can't wait til it's... Tonight...
For a second there, I was about to ask what's new with this upcoming version... That would have been pretty stupid...
Hi.
I didn't find where to share it so people can try it and give feedback or whatever...so I created this thread. I compiled franco kernel with the updated code for the wifi driver (same thing that was done here).
It also modifies libs and config files so do a nandroid backup in case you don't want to use it anymore (use any other kernel...including the original franco kernel) ... or you can use (you have to use[/B]) this to revert to stock driver and pure franco #134 kernel.
Anyway... flashable zip in attached files
Source is here
I just wanted to help so be cool.
And credit to the people that deserved it.... you know who..
Well since the wifi problem is fixed (I think)... I'm just sharing my personal build of franco kernel...it's franco kernel+faux sound+faux gamma control.
Enjoy
What version (date) of the Prima Driver does this Kernel Contain? BTW, currently testing
Just as a heads up I'm using jszaq 's motley version and it's not missed a beat in weeks. It's so awesome not to have to worry about missed notifications on WiFi, after waiting so long for crappy Google to fix it.

It works for me too... But I read motley's thread and apparently doesn't work for everybody... I hope that it works for most of the people so franco will include it officially.. But since it uses libs and other config besides the kernel I don't think he will

Since it changes libs and other stuff you can't just simply flash a new kernel. Have to restore from a backup.
Edit: Forgot to report my results. My internet is 30/5 and with this new kernel I actually get 30/6.5 which is obviously a faster upload than my computer speed tests.
If I flash a new kernel, do the new wifi drivers and such go away?

The kernel changes I made and the wifi libs and config in rom side need to go together... so if you flash a new kernel only the files in rom side stay.... and your wifi will mess up... so use the revert zip to change kernel but you will lose the fix

I'm gonna be that guy though, can anyone give me a link to aaarghhh's kernel for our device for cm11? I've searched a bunch and just can't find it... I've found the flashable for other devices and other versions but not the atrix and not cm11. Thanks
Sent from my MB886 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm using the Validus13 custom 4.4.2 rom which is based on CM. In build 3.0, "arrrghhh kernel no longer included due to version incompatibilities". See the changelog here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564418
Not sure if it was removed only from the Validus13 ROM or other CM11-based roms too.

Use the one for the razr hd xt925. I cannot provide a link for it.
I've just installed arrrghhh's kernel on my phone, which is running the 12/25 nightly of CM11. So far, things seem pretty stable. I read about issues with the battery calibration on CM11, but according to arrrghhh, it seemed to be CM's fault. It looks like it's measuring the battery fine though, and I've overclocked to 1.8 GHz and lowered the minimum frequency to 96 MHz just fine
Here's the link to the thread on the Photon Q forum (it works on all devices running the Photon's SoC, including the Atrix HD): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31717152#post31717152
The link should send you to post #5, just click on the blue CM11 link to download.

That was the issue that I read about on the thread...
I don't have this issue, but I installed this kernel on the 12/25 CM11 nightly. If you're running a rom that is CM based, it probably doesn't have the latest commits from the later CM11 nightlies fixing this issue. If you're not running a nightly/running an older nightly, try installing the latest one and see if that fixes your issue. If you're already on a new nightly though, I don't know what to say..
On the 12/17 nightly I'll give the latest a download and dirty flash it, along with reflashing arrrghhh to see if that fixes it. I'll report back with results for anyone else having the issue in the future. Thanks for the continued responses man. Very helpful.
