Hi everyone,
I just received my xperia z1 today, but I cannot turn on the wi-fi. Trying to toggle it on will result in it saying "Turning Wi-Fi on..." and its gets stuck there. Please help. Everything else works.
Running monxdified stock rom.
[EDIT] If I go into Settings, the Wi-Fi toggle is greyed out.

so its a custom ROM?
Then I'd reflash the ROM.
If problem persists, i'd swap to another ROM.
That is a symptom of incorrect wifi modules. Flash stock wifi modules for your phone

Hi,
I have flashed the RodriguezMIUImod, and I have some problems with the Wifi connection.
It works the first time after flashing the ROM, but if I turn it of and on again, it stucks optaining IP-adress.
I try another kernel, but it's the same problem, it only works the first time.
Can anybody help me?
Depending on what version of MIUI you're running there is an app I think it's MIUI Settings on the homescreen which has an option to "backup all settings."
I have same issue.
Hi I've been trying to find out the problem for past 2 hours and flashed again many times and i cant seem to find the problem here.
the problem is that after a clean install of this rom AOKP milestone #5, i connect to my wifi 2.4GHz. 5GHz doenst seems to work.
it doesnt even show. now the problem is that when i reboot once than the tab cant turn the wifi back on.. so i cannot connect to the wifi.
i get black toggle not gray like the other toggle and i go into the setting menu and the tab tries to turn on the wifi but i can't.
it just says "turning wifi on" and nothing. so i flashed again and same problem occur. i dont know the problem.
so i am trying to restore the overcome 4.1 nandroid backup but it doenst work from the new CWR (MTD).
how can i flash the recovery (non MTD) that i used to have with overcome rom.
if i cant do i have to restock all the way again so i can restore to overcome nandroid backup that ive made?
if i have to restock, what do i have to do from AOKP Milestone #5 ROM (MTD)?
Thanks in Advance
Dan
You restock the same way as in overcome.
Fire up Odin and flash with repartition.
Then you can flash overcome kernel and boot to cwm recovery and restore.
Don't know about you, but my overcome Android restore always have FC after reboot to the point of unusable.
I usually have to wipe all and restore from titanium backup instead.

With aokp the Mac changed but I thought only once, not every reboot.

I read this on a thread.
Guy had mobile data switched on, and whenever he rebooted, wifi wouldn't connect.
Guy switched mobile data off, rebooted, wifi started working, then turned on data.
Try and let us know.

Sorry for reviving this thread, but your comment has helped me out. I have AOKP M1 on my i605 and wifi has been a pain. Turning mobile data off, wifi on, and mobile data back on solves the problem. Thank you!
I was on PAC Rom. The wifi was working fine. I reverted back to .253 (4.1.2) version and my wifi is not turning on anymore. It keeps on showing wifi is turning on. I reflashed to PAC rom and wifi was working and I can connect to a wifi network but after again reverting back to .253 version it again stops working. Please help!

Problem seems unique to you...
You are clean flashing? No silly restores. Full reset and wipe.
Hey guys,
I have a Z1 C903, which doesn't work as a wifi tether nor bluetooth tether. I can turn it on, and other devices can see it, however when trying to connect, the signal drops completely.
If I wait the signal will restart and become full strength, where I will need to manually connect, which proceeds to the signal disappearing again. I've tried unsecure, wpa2, wpa to which I have no luck either. Devices such as laptop will say limited connection, whereas android tablets and phones will refuse to connect and will say "Saved, secured with WPA2" or something else if i change the password method.
I've tried searching for any reports of wifi tethering not working, but the problems seem to be different from my situation.
More details on my device:
It has an unlocked bootloader
Now running Paranoid android
Problem occurred on stock 4.3, nut 4.4 (I assumed it was a glitch on Sony's drivers, and have waited for months now for a patch)
Could a faulty TA do this?
Any ideas?
Am I f***ed?
Cheers

Flash your phone by flash tools including wipe apps log and cache and system
It should solve your problem
And of course first re-lock your BL and flash to stock Rom

Sorry about late reply, I am out in urban areas without internet connection. I'll try doing this tonight.
Am I right in assuming all Z1 CM ROMs have this problem, if I must install a stock-based ROM?

Oh, sorry I forgot to tell you
You should use stock rom

Go here and fun your phone model and download the version and region you want

You can try to change the name of your phone (Network SSID) to a simpler form instead of default.
I got it working
I got it working thanks to your suggestion, Saeed.
I flashed the stock ftf from the mega thread and that restored my tethering capabilities. I then proceeded to reinstall the ParanoidRom and now the tethering works as well.
I'm not sure what happened, but I'd assume something went wrong when upgrading to 4.3 and the problem stayed when I then upgraded again to 4.4 and then to paranoid.
Thanks
Hi. So, I just got a Samsung S3 GT-I9305 from Vodacom. Got it from eBay. But, I'm having trouble connecting to the wifi. Whenever I connect to the wifi it always says "Authentication error occurred". I turned off the wifi thingy using *#0011# and wiped the cache, I even reset the phone to its factory settings. I sometimes connect to a wifi, but it takes 1 hour or so before being connected. And I have trouble downloading from the playstore. Did everything I could find from the web. No luck.
So, I was thinking, If I would flash a custom rom to my device, will it fix the wifi issue? And would any stock firmware of the I9305 device work?
Thanks! Sorry for being noob.

Hi,
I think it could be a router issue. You should :
- reset your router and retry to connect with your i9305,
- play with WIFI network settings in router. Maybe something doesn't allow your i9305 connection (network type, firewall, etc.). I'm not an expert in router settings, so you could google this to help you.
- try another WIFI network (from a friend, at work, anywhere you can test )
I think that flashing a custom ROM won't change anything. First try to fix your problem with stock firmware.
