Easter egg - Moto X Q&A

I just updated to 4.4 but the easter egg shows a number 1 and not the letter K before the Android logo. Any clues to why the number 1? Just wondering.

Perhaps it is because Motorola released kitkat before any other company(other then Google themselves), so they were first.

I do not get the #1. My screen goes dim and then if I long press, I get the red Android logo.

Probably Motorola thinks they are the best.

From my post on the other thread about this:
"It's based off of the build number, I believe. The build number on the Verizon Moto X (4.4) is 13.11.1Q2.X-69-3. I believe the 4.4.2 release build numbers start with a K. I can't verify, since I don't have access to 4.4.2, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere. The build number on my Nexus 7 starts with a K, though, and it displays a K."

As centipedes said, it has *not* started yet. Invites were sent out, but the actual OTA has not gone out to testers.

My phone is a carrier unlocked Bell AHD, and I am using it on AT&T.

That I understand, the thing is the at&t soak has 4.1.1 and a different version... I'd be nice to know the specifics.
The update is carrier specific, not network specific.
Things get even more interesting as the Razr Hd at&t is also 4.1.2.

To me, its kind of strange that AT&T pushed the Bell update to my phone. I'm guessing what happened is that AT&T told me I have an update, and then they connected me to the Motorola servers, who saw that my phone is a Bell AHD and sent me that update.
Good news for Bell AHD owners, the camera app is updated. HDR is now included (the new icon is pretty ugly though).
Okay so I may be a little late to the party on this, but I've never seen anything about this. With the new update, there is a quick settings menu. At the home screen, swipe the home screen to the right (so go to the screen to the left of home), it is now a quick settings screen.

How do you get those backgrounds on the settings screen? Mine is still ICS and it is just black.

It's not a settings screen. It is a screen that is to the left of the home screen. That background is just the wallpaper I have set up.

Any News/Rumors of 4.3 coming soon

title says it all. just wondering if anyone has seen new/rumors of android 4.3 coming for our moto x soon. i seen an article that said it would be sooner than later but that was the only thing i could find.
was wondering the same thing. with the N5 coming out soon though i'm wondering if they are looking to skip to kitkat
The only thing I can think of in 4.3 that would benefit users is TRIM support, but the Moto X already has that: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7235/moto-x-review/9
On other Moto devices we had an app that would check Moto dev servers for leaked builds. The Atrix got unlocked that way. Can't we try that on this device?

4.3 libs are much much better than 4.2 but they are probably just skipping to kitkat

I doubt they're skipping 4.3. There was a 4.3 leak.

Anyone seeing anything for VZW?

The info of the Nexus 7 is outdated

The information in the "home" of this subforum should say Android 4.3 instead of 4.1, unless it shows the version it had when released.

Dumb noon questions

I ordered my Moto X on Saturday through moto maker. Its a Verizon retail version. Any idea if 4.4 will come on it? If I don't have 4.4 is there anything I should do before accepting the update? My understanding is the the bootloader on the VZW Moto X retail version has not been unlocked by anyone yet. I am interested in obtaining an unlocked boot loader and root if possible if only for options down the road. I have been seeing tools like RockMyMoto or something on here...what are those all about. These options seem a lot different from what I am used to on my nexus, could really use a brief introduction to my new device. If I am missing a key topic, a link would be super cool.
Thanks!

i just received my verizon phone today and come with 4.2 so you can still using rockmymoto in case that you want to root
It's supposed to be on the path to 4.4 however I wouldn't expect it until early next year but I might be wrong but that's when vzw releases big updates it seems.

Just got mine today. 4.4 was not installed but it started the download on its own. I didn't realize it until it had already downloaded.

a few weeks after the Nexus. I read somewhere that the Moto software team wants to get the update out before the Nexus 5, so maybe we'll see it a week or two after L is released (in the Fall)
When's the exact release date for L

Latest rumors are early November for the first phones getting the update: Nexus 5, etc.
My guess is the pure edition will be fast - a few weeks at most.
Verizon/AT&T will probably be 3-4 months. I think that's what they averaged for the big updates on the 2013 X.

I agree. That coincides with my experience.
yep, rumor has it L will be on the 25th of October, which means pure will have it the first week of Nevember, ATT/VZW will finally approve it and release it the following June lol

I wouldn't count out Verizon on updates for the X. Yes on most phones they suck but last year on the X they were pretty fast.
The Verizon x was the first out of the gate for kk..before the actual release of kk on the n5
Moto has been very quick with updates for the X line. Hopefully they will continue.
