Battery Life for KitKat on VZW - Moto X Q&A

My battery life is not nearly as good after updating to kitkat, and my phone seems to run a lot warmer than before. Anyone else have this issue?

Have not noticed any change... but, it only came out yesterday. Not sure 1 day is enough to go on...

Normally the day after an OTA is a period of high drain. Give it a few more days and it should normalize.

Full charge to full drain at least twice. usually helps after an OTA in my experience.

Seriuos Overheating and Battery Problem??

Hi everyone! My phone is 2 months old, 1 week ago, my phone start to heat so badly, in upper part is really really hot... As a matter of fact the battery is drained really fast, 3 hours in stand by... Before can get one day easily... Make a factory reset, doesn't work... The problem start a few days after I update de stage fright update, you think is the problem? Anyone else experience this? The phone is out of warranty in USA, cause is a UK version, xt1068....
Ty:good::good::good:
processor in probably running at full speed doing something it's not supposed to. I seriously doubt it's a hardware problem so I would recommend unlocking the bootloader and try using another ROM.
could it be as a UK phone in USA its always trying to find a better network? this would cause heat and drain issues?
Yeah think the same. I'll try... The 5.1 update it suppose to comes up this month...

I do not think so... Happens the same, without sim...
Besides, even when I charge power off, with a wall adapter 1A, it never charges, because it discharge more easily than charge. I have to charge with a 2A charger, but is really slow, more than 8 hours to get completly charge... What do you think?
As decipher said, what seems to be is a process eating all the battery and keeping the CPU at full speed. We don't know if it's an app you're using or an Android problem so to see it the best thing you can do is to unlock your bootloader, install twrp or cwm recovery and then flash a custom rom. Personally I had some overheating problems on my xt 1068 at stock version and battery drain, but not this 3 hours standby you're getting. Now I'm using Minimal OS and it's working nice! Tell us if it solves your problem! Good luck! :good::fingers-crossed:

Yes. I don't like to say this, but maybe it's a battery issue. But let's listen what other people say.

Battery life degraded significantly after oreo update

Hey,
I've observed three issues after Oreo Update:
1. Battery life has degraded significantly
2. USB Tethering for sometime overheats it (even Moto help app shows that)
3. The wifi range has become less too and frequent signal loss
Anyone else feels the same? I'm on stock unrooted ROM.
Imo, this can be called the worst update as they gave it after 1 year when the warranty got expired and the update turns out to be utter ****. Nougat was way better. At least wifi and battery backup were good.
Nope, after oreo update, my phone is getting better
Signal, battery, tethering, everything perfectly fine
After update, i always restart the phone
Overall the update has improved everything for me. Complaining about bad battery life without posting battery statistics is pointless and should be considered spam.
Which country firmware u have downloaded?

Dude! Nobody's got time to post such a thread just for pastime.
I didn't post stat because I happen to connect the phone to laptop every now and then for work purposes because of which I couldn't get exact stats.
This is what I've managed to get though. Extrapolating these, the SoT would be slightly over 5 hrs. It used to be consistently over 7 hrs earlier.

I've also experienced the same. Battery drain significantly worse and wifi range as well. European firmware.

A way to check battery health that isn't Accubattery?

My Pixel 5 started with 98% battery health (according to Accubattery) and three days later had dropped to 95% and now it's on 93% and the phone is less than a month old. I'm dubious about the readings, although I'm not really getting quite the stellar battery life that some others are reporting. Is there another way to check my battery health, or should I try to put it out of my mind and just stop worrying about it? Thanks, in advance!

Is your Pixel 5 suffering from battery drain? Here's what to do about it
The Pixel 5 and its larger battery are suffering from severe drain issues. Google has issued a fix, but there are more steps to try.
www.androidauthority.com
flashing the factory image without -w
helped clear up the battery issues I was facing.
May be worth trying. Just make sure to remove the -w as to not wipe your data.

Question Battery Life is getting worse, anyone else noticed that?

The battery life is getting worse every single day, I am getting less and less battery life as the days goes by. I can't return this phone neither will someone buy a phone this bad.
If someone else noticed that their phones battery life has gotten worse, pls let me know (any tips would be great too)
Thanks.
I absolutely have noticed this.
Me too
Me three.
I was using my phone on OOS12 until the nagging messages were too annoying to ignore, so I let it do it's thing to 13.
This was a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I've noticed SIGNIFICANT battery drain, I used to be able to go all day with light use and have more battery left over by bedtime. Lately I need to top it off to last the day or else it will be dead by dinner time.
I was going to just blame the OOS13 update but are you guys saying this is recent and across the board? Did something happen, maybe a OP app is running in the background after an OTA?
It's expected that the battery will degrade with time. You can download a recognized battery app, which will show your remaining capacity.

Yes I know, but this phone is barely a year old and the difference was very sudden from one day to the next.
