Hi everyone.
When I bought this phone, the battery would last all day, sometimes even going for 2 days with a single charge. Using the stock rom, I can only get around 14 hours with very light usage now. Using a custom rom gives me even less. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to beef up the battery life?

It would really help to know what rom you're using, not all of them (personally) have I got great battery life..
Not sure if you're a aosp guy, or like sense.. but if you're using a sense rom, WCX roms have got me the best battery life I've seen on the vivid.. and the vivid isn't too great with battery at all.

Sorry, I'm using this rom:

I'm not too sure why, but with this rom, the battery drops extremely quickly.

I hate to say it this way...
But leave the screen off...
I get between .5 and .7 % drain per hour with the screen off... And up to 30% per hour with the screen on...

This may sound weird, but the battery seems to drain just as fast with the screen off.

Then you have wakelocks.... Use Better Battery Stats to find the offending program... The either delete it... Or greenify it... Or use one of the receiver kill programs (autostarts/system tuner) to kill it

You must be a lucky one, since my HTC Vivid has horrendous battery life, as did my old Samsung Galaxy S1. I've heard the garbage from AT&T, HTC and Samsung where it's just everyone's imagination, the batteries have great life and Never overheat. I have my Vivid for a year and a half and have gone thru 5 batteries, each one lasting less than 5 ones. The Galaxy had the body replaced 3 times and had the same battery issues.
Yes, they are both 4+ inches in screen size and they will not get smaller for smartphones/mini-computers. I don't know which rom it's running, but the kernel is 3.0.16-gf59f9ce 7-25-2012, Android 4.0.3, HTC Sense 3.6. Can someone please give an answer that has some possible real-time solutions? Thanks!

It all depends how my vivid is liking me that day or not, I have days where I ran through 5 battery in a single day..
and Sometimes it gets hot on me, are you on stock rom? did you unlock your bootloader? I recommend a WCX rom if you're using 4.0.3 and like sense.. google wcx illuminati you'll find it.. (WildChild asks not to direct link to his site) and follow his instructions.
If you need more help, PM me, and we can set up a gtalk or something and help you get settled.
Battery
The battery on my vivid is the same, i use juice defender but still if i start to use my data plan it will die within an hour and a half, it also heats up if i start to use several apps at a time. I have already replaced the battey once.
My battery life is not nearly as good after updating to kitkat, and my phone seems to run a lot warmer than before. Anyone else have this issue?
Have not noticed any change... but, it only came out yesterday. Not sure 1 day is enough to go on...

Normally the day after an OTA is a period of high drain. Give it a few more days and it should normalize.

Full charge to full drain at least twice. usually helps after an OTA in my experience.
So my Z3C has huge problems with battery past days, It gets really HOT at 38 to 40*c. It doesn't go down below 35*C! It drains of the battery real hard, talking about drain every 2mins it goes down 1%! just by leaving the screen on, when browsing or doing something it raises upto 37*C and it becomes a nightmare.
I'm using carbon ROM with kernel auditor to settle my battery to balance. Does anyone know how i can get rid of this battery issue? with kernel auditor or something?
(Sony devices have overheating problems) Also even when using stock kitkat or lollipop the battery is crap. My phone is new not old.
Than you have a faulty device since mine does get warm when playing games only but not hot.
Cant be faulty as stated, its a new device recently purchased, got carbon rom. Im not good at kernel auditor need help configurating it

Mine only gets warm when flashing rom. Nearly 90*C. Otherwise no overheating. I bet ur battery has a failure

I doubt any fault inside the phone, either its the software or have to config the kernel to bring back the battery. The phone has gone much faster i dont know what i did to make it faster but the batter life is hell!

In the battery stats, what is the top consuming apps? Maybe you have a mediaserver problem and your SD card needs a format. Just guesses

battery temp on 40C is normal for phones when you play games. My old phone was always 38C when i play games and the battery is still fine for 1 year
Hi everyone! My phone is 2 months old, 1 week ago, my phone start to heat so badly, in upper part is really really hot... As a matter of fact the battery is drained really fast, 3 hours in stand by... Before can get one day easily... Make a factory reset, doesn't work... The problem start a few days after I update de stage fright update, you think is the problem? Anyone else experience this? The phone is out of warranty in USA, cause is a UK version, xt1068....
Ty:good::good::good:
processor in probably running at full speed doing something it's not supposed to. I seriously doubt it's a hardware problem so I would recommend unlocking the bootloader and try using another ROM.
could it be as a UK phone in USA its always trying to find a better network? this would cause heat and drain issues?
Yeah think the same. I'll try... The 5.1 update it suppose to comes up this month...

I do not think so... Happens the same, without sim...
Besides, even when I charge power off, with a wall adapter 1A, it never charges, because it discharge more easily than charge. I have to charge with a 2A charger, but is really slow, more than 8 hours to get completly charge... What do you think?
As decipher said, what seems to be is a process eating all the battery and keeping the CPU at full speed. We don't know if it's an app you're using or an Android problem so to see it the best thing you can do is to unlock your bootloader, install twrp or cwm recovery and then flash a custom rom. Personally I had some overheating problems on my xt 1068 at stock version and battery drain, but not this 3 hours standby you're getting. Now I'm using Minimal OS and it's working nice! Tell us if it solves your problem! Good luck! :good::fingers-crossed:

Yes. I don't like to say this, but maybe it's a battery issue. But let's listen what other people say.

I have the same issue, don't know how to fix it. I just try to keep the charge above 20%.

the battery life is good getting 1and half day easily
and the reason i m using kitkat is i just bought few days ago it came up with kitkat but now i m worried about the power off thing
Yea same here. Once i get below say 12% It may shut off. Hit power, says its 0%, then the second i plug it into the charger it then registers at like 8-12%. This is just something that happens with old batteries. They can't keep both the voltage and/or amps high enough at a low charge and the phone "Thinks" there is enough power, and the readings it gets says there is but the battery just then gives out.
Here is a good explanation of it.

I had this issue as well. I replaced the battery and the problem disappeared. Don't waste your time with factory resets, won't fix the problem. Battery replacement was the best thing I've done besides Sunshine. Back up everything, take your time, watch tear down videos. Good luck.

I got mine on Amazon and it wasn't OEM, so there's always some risk there. I installed mine in Dec 2016 after owning the phone over two years. Battery has been great so far, but only averageAmazon reviews, so keep that in mind.

I do have the same issue (poweroff) with KitKat using this great Rom (Flashable KK ROM Computerfreek274_4.4.4_KK Deodexed, Root)
But i also have to upgrade it due to KitKat is being sooo old now
So, I need to upgrade and keep the battery Life
tell me if you tested this rom how is the battery life
As I'm NOT sure weather i should upgrade to MM or N ?
