the battery life is good getting 1and half day easily
and the reason i m using kitkat is i just bought few days ago it came up with kitkat but now i m worried about the power off thing

Yea same here. Once i get below say 12% It may shut off. Hit power, says its 0%, then the second i plug it into the charger it then registers at like 8-12%. This is just something that happens with old batteries. They can't keep both the voltage and/or amps high enough at a low charge and the phone "Thinks" there is enough power, and the readings it gets says there is but the battery just then gives out.
Here is a good explanation of it.

I had this issue as well. I replaced the battery and the problem disappeared. Don't waste your time with factory resets, won't fix the problem. Battery replacement was the best thing I've done besides Sunshine. Back up everything, take your time, watch tear down videos. Good luck.

I got mine on Amazon and it wasn't OEM, so there's always some risk there. I installed mine in Dec 2016 after owning the phone over two years. Battery has been great so far, but only averageAmazon reviews, so keep that in mind.

[Q] Is this battery trashed?

Hey guys. I was wondering if this is reasonable battery life for the Mini?
NB:
- when WiFi wasn't enabled, i had 3G on all the time, except the straight section - that was overnight
- my screen brightness stays at about 65% all the time, except for the no-wifi screen time before the straight section - that was minimum brightness
- powersave is activated
- some of the screen time was games - notably I played GTA VC for 30 minutes without powersave
I need to know if it is decent because I am able to return the phone until the end of the month if the battery is damaged. Thanks.
Yes that seems ok.

Try training the battery (let it go down to 2%, fully charge it, repeat one or two more times) and see if that clears it up.

I did that more than once, until it wouldn't even power on. Then plugged it in to charge until i got the Battery Full notification. Still happens, not as much but it does. I'm starting to get used to it though, especially since a friend of mine with an OG S3 says he gets the same thing too.

Exactly what I'm worried about, I'd rather exchange the phone while I still can. For example, today I've had the phone sit on 25% for a long time, then suddenly decrease to 22% and sit there for a long time as well. This ticks me off a little, but I don't know whether it's an actual problem or not.

[Q] Android OS killing battery

Okay, so to start I don't consider myself a complete and total noob to all this stuff. I've owned plenty of devices,
I bought the Atrix HD and put in my EB40, and I'm very happy with the results. I've been getting about 5.5-6 hours on screen with two days of usage--quite good.
But I know people with the Maxx's, too.
I've looked at what is using the most battery, and no matter what I do it's always been android OS, always using 30+%.
I've done resets and used it without any apps installed, and it's the same as downloading and syncing everything. I don't get it.
I also have used BBS to check for wakelocks, but there's nothing out of the ordinary. I've compared it to wakelocks on my N4, and they're about the same. I don't get it.
Any thoughts?
Did you buy a new battery? so, maxx's battery?
Yup. Bought atrix and eb40 at the same time. When they both arrived, the first thing I did was install the new battery.
I bought new too. I had the same problem. You must full use the phone and charge the phone completely finish. And connect the charge wait 8-12 hour. Try 1 week. Okay? Cuz battery is new.. Battery should be fine.
I've had the phone almost two months and have done that, no improvements

I didn't calibrate because I read everywhere that battery calibration doesn't do anything.
Usually, when connected to wifi, I go for about 35 hours with 5-6 hours of on screen time.
Don't have any screen caps at the moment. Been using my Nexus 4 until I figure this out with the Atrix HD.
Any new suggestions?

I'm having this same issue...I'm BL unlocked, on MR, and I can't stop the battery from just draining sooo fast. I had the same problem before I unlocked the BL, so I'm just very confused about what the cause is.
Maybe Google Now could be taking up more battery along with the way the UI is rendered due to project butter. My Android OS battery usage has also go up considerably. Just a theory.

New Motorola RAZR i battery drains quickly

Hi
I bought the Motorola Razr I yesterday, I been using it all day today.
But the battery is abnormally short. It drops very fast min 10% per hour to 27% per hour. I don't think this is normal for a new phone. The battery temperature is 38°c on normal use.
Am I using the phone wrong or did I get a faulty phone?.
I have nfc on all the time until 23% but after that I turned off nfc to see if that was the problem but it didn't seem to be.
I can get screen captures if needed.

you need some circles from full to down then you will se the real power.
but the battery with stock rom is not so great as with the custom rom from omar or max.
i dont think your battery is faulty give it some tryes!
and at least you csn not easy change the battery by yourself

You might wanna figure out what is actually draining your battery. Search XDA for 'better battery stats' and install it. When your phone is not beeing used it should stay in deep sleep for most of the time, if not, check wakelocks to see whats keeping it from sleeping. For me it was mostly Google Now which caused the drain.
ok so the more i use the battery the better results i may get?
One of the reasons i bought this phone was because of the review on battery life e.g. http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/motorola-razr-i-1098183/review/9
Now i have done a wipe of cache and data, did a factory reset. Charged from 10% to 100%. Getting the last few % is hard, this morning i woke up and it was still 99%. Went back after 1 hour to check it was 99% and dropped to 98% while the phone is off and charging.
Once its 100% again i will install the better battery stats as 696 suggested and post my results.
In my pretty long android experience this happens all the time with new phones, after updates.. You can do anything you want (cleaning cache, restart, etc), but it gets finally better by itself after a couple of days.
Don't ask me why, but it works like that.
Battery life of Razr i is excellent, best of all phones (incl iphones) I ever had!
Good luck and have some patience - so simple is that!
Recommended is to charge the new Phone full, before you turn it on the first time. A lil bit patience is needed, but that should help to avoid stuff like this.
And as the Guy above already posted, the battery will calibrate during daily use. It's the same, when you flash or update an Rom. You'll see the "real battery drain" first after a couple of Charges. And don't wipe battery stats in CWM, that's useless.
Gesendet von meinem XT890 mit Tapatalk 2
And also try disabling Google Now (search for that if you don't know how).

I bought my Razr i 3 weeks ago, I had high expectations about the battery, but the battery only lasts about one day and half, is this normal? I am not a heavy user.
Cheers

[Q] Battery lasts for 1+ hour at 1%

Hi All,
My battery is lasting for over an hour at 1%. This makes me think that the battery isn't calibrated properly, but the methods I've seen posted for recalibrating my battery haven't worked. Here is what I've tried:
Use phone until it shuts down automatically from low battery
With phone still turned off, charge it until it reaches 100% (about 4 hours)
Turn phone on and use it normally
I've tried doing this method twice in a row, but I'm still having the same issue. I don't remember having this issue when I first bought the phone, although I also made the mistake of not fully charging the phone before I started using it.
Any suggestions for fixing this issue? I don't want to root my phone as I don't have a stable computer (random BSOD) and I'm afraid of bricking it. Thanks!
Lasting an hour on standby.... Or using the phone?
I drain at around 1 percent an hour on standby, and some have even less drain than that.... So if that's mostly stand by you're talking.... It's probably not an issue.
If that's an hour at 1 percent mostly using the phone, then yeah... That ain't right. Lol

My phone has decent battery life, I typically see 2-3hrs SOT. Not sure how people get 5+ hrs.
The main problem is that when my phone gets low battery I never know when its going to die, since it stays at 1% for so long. A little stressful when I'm doing navigation in a new area, so I'd really like to fix it

sometimes it takes your phone one or two cycles to cache up the battery stats. but I would agree that the battery stats file is probably corrupted. i think you might be able to enter the stock recovery mode (without root) and wipe the battery stats. but I'm new to this phone - just talking from prior experiences.

Still reading through the battery thread before I make a decision, but it sounds like doing a factory reset might be a good option. Looks like a lot of people are also experiencing high android OS usage.

Hey Guys,
ever since the 5.1 Update to my Moto X I have been having the same strange bug reported here: Early in the evening it will tell me my battery is about to die (1%) but the phone will still run for hours (not one.... the whole night actually) - see screenshot. This occured together with the famours bug where Android updates its apps if the phone booted while charging. I have of course done a whipe - two times actually. Any idea?

Droid 4 randomly shutting down!!!

So this is driving me crazy, and I'm not sure if it's a hardware problem or a software problem. Hopefully someone could give me some insight.
So about 2 months ago I installed CM 11 on my Droid 4 and it was my first time doing a custom ROM on an android device. I was extremely satisfied with the results of this as it improved my phone to a well optimized 4.4.2 and making my phone significantly faster compared to stock.
However, for the past 2-3 weeks my phone has become a completely broken mess. For starters the phone gave me strange battery statistics. When turned off and plugged in, the phone would read as 100%, but when I booted in CM 11 the battery would be at 60% and would every so often the phone would jump from 60% to about 15% in literally seconds. The phone shuts down during usage constantly, usually when the battery reads at <60%. Before it does so "Android System" would open up on the screen and immediately close then the phone will read "Shutting down..." sometimes doing so immediately after the boot screen. This became very infuriating so I loaded up stock to see if the same problem occurs. Sure enough, it did. However, before shutting down, the phone would keep going into cooldown mode multiple times. Sometimes it would cool down for only a few seconds, sometimes it would be in cooldown mode for up to 2-3 mins. With that information could someone please tell me what I can do? Do I need a new battery or a new ROM? or do I need a new phone all together? Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I have recently encountered this myself on stock ROM. The past few days were very hot and my Droid 4 shut down after going into cooldown mode when I used it for multiple tasks at the same time (browsing, bluetooth, music, etc.). It wouldn't even turn back on until it cooled down. My money is on the battery, I'm planning to swap it out tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

Could be battery, but I would reinstall ROM first.
If you want can try just ROM install, no data wipe, no gapps.

It should be worth noting that once i started to notice the problem, I thought it was an issue in the latest snapshot for CM 11. It made sense as I had recently installed it. So I wiped the rom slot clean and went from M7 back to M6 and the problem still occurred.

I swapped the battery this morning, I have 1-2 lying around just in case.
I charged it to full and noticed that the device was not as hot during charging than before.
After this, I did some browsing and run a full AnTuTu benchmark and the Droid remained fairly cool.
So I think it's safe to say that it's the battery that tends to overheat the device.
I was on stock ROM.

Thx for looking into it for me. I just threw down $30 on a new battery over amazon. So I'll let you know if it works once I get it.

Update 2: The new battery is working great so far. Only got it to as low as 50% as of now so can't say it's a perfect fix just yet.

Good to hear it! I used mine for a full day, I'm not saying the device is freezing cold now, but feels cooler and no shutdowns due to heat. Also seems like that some applications tend to heat things up better than others (TuneIn and UC Browser for example). Anyway, let's hope this prolong the life of our phones, I would hate to be without the keyboard.
