okay i will try thx

still nothing... am i doing something wrong?

i have succefuly unlocked the bootloder but when i inserted my t-mobile it says it doesn support it. do i need to edit or add a new APN?

Unlocking the boatloader is different then unlocking it for a different carrier that's a separate process,I don't think it is possible to use it for a gsm phone in the u.s just abroad.

[Q] T-Mobile Moto X - Failed to unlock bootloader

I was quite lucky, in that my shiny new Moto X was delivered today. I've played around a bit with the stock software, and decided that I really wanted to root and play a bit more. Upon getting my Device ID, I pasted it in the Motorola unlocker page only to be greeted with the message that my device doesn't qualify for the bootloader to be unlocked.
I'm quite sad. Has anyone had any success in unlocking the T-Mobile Moto X just yet?
If you bought it off contract as a T-Mobile variant then the boot loader is unlockable as far as I am aware.

Another question(s) for you sir, I understand that unlocking the BL will enable you to flash a custom recovery but do you need to unlock to flash custom roms? And if you don't what recovery image do you use to flash roms with? And if I unlock the BL using the moto website what method do I use the obtain root?

Same Issue
T-Mobile Moto X with the same issue; enter code from fastboot formatted as instructed into the unlock webform and get 'does not qualify'. Sat on the phone with Motorola's awful support for an hour (mostly on hold) wading through support reps that do not understand what the difference is between 'bootloader' and 'SIM' unlock and finally got to tier-3 support, which was closed for the day, and will be calling me back. Web chat was futile, the rep kept insisting this is for the developer edition only, (which ships unlocked to begin with therefore negating the need for an unlock request).
Was just successful. Not sure if this was Motorola's fault or not, but i tried again, doing everything the same way as before and it worked, code was e-mailed and phone is unlocked.

Also, I wouldn't trust what they say at that level of support. I emailed support when mine wouldn't work.... Clearly asking about my boot loader and their response was my version was not carrier unlocked. Not the sharpest knives in the drawer over there. Lol

Escalated issue, level 2 support rep logged in my PC to make sure and he wasnt able to unlock either.
Try to unlock it today, I was in the same problem a few days ago, In motorola webpage says that my bootloader doesnt qualify for unlock, but today my luck changes, and I try it again, and for my sorprice was that the unlock code was available.
I am having the same issue.

Unlock-able bootloader on Verzion now?!

I noticed that Motorola has added VZW to the list of MOTO X carriers on their page "What devices are supported by the Bootloader Unlock program?"
[google: motorola unlock supported devices]
Has anyone else seen this? I don't see any news releases anywhere for it, and it definitely wasn't there previously.
From the chart, it doesn't appear to be specific to the Dev edition. Does this mean I/we could unlock the non-dev 'retail' version of the phone? Has anyone actually tried or used this method to unlock with or without success?

Im pretty sure that the OP is referring to that image. Notice it says: US / Sprint, USC, TMO, VZW are all unlockable.
Im also pretty sure that it is referring to the DE.
Yeah that's for the Dev edition. You can try it on the regular one if you please (won't hurt anything) but when you enter the magic code acquired from the device you will be told its not valid for unlock.

Not a Verizon owner but Rogers , I did unlock my boot loader, you got nothing to lose. you have to get a code from your phone in fastboot which you insert into Motorola's unlocking request page at which point either you get a code or it will say your boot loader is not unlockable

Was going to try it but can't even log into my Moto account lol.. Either way HIGHLY doubt it would work. Must be talking about the Dev edition.

[Q] Need and official T-Mobile Rom for AT&T Moto X

I have a friend with an AT&T Moto X. He is selling it and offered me a good deal on it. It is already unlocked (I know I may need to unlock it again if I change roms and such but I assume his code may carry over and I don't mind buying an unlock code if needed). I am very interested in the phone but would prefer to have the official stock T-Mobile rom on the phone. I can install a custom bootloader if necessary, but I cannot find an official T-Mobile rom for the phone. Does anyone know where I could find the official stock T-Mobile rom or know how I can switch it to the T-Mobile rom from the AT&T rom? Thanks
If it's an AT&T Moto x, then you can't bootloader unlock it. If it is SIM unlocked once, then it'll stay that way forever. If it has a locked bootloader, then you can't really install a rom on it.

I thought I should stay unlocked. I had read a few posts from people suggesting it might have to be redone though, so I wasn't sure. So It is stuck with the AT&T rom for good then I presume? The only reason I would have a desire to change the rom would be to take advantage of a perticular T-Mobile app, which I can get on the phone anyways. Would there be any notable problems that anyone knows of with using an unlocked AT&T Moto X on T-mobile?
I am using one right now and it works fine. The only possible issue is if you're in an area that hasn't had a network refarm. In those areas, you can only get 2g instead of 3g. It has the same LTE coverage either way.

My AT&T Moto X is bootloader unlocked. Cost me $40 to get the code. There's quite a few threads being posted about it. I'm using it on T-Mobile right now. Once it is carrier unlocked, it stays that way. Same with the bootloader. I get LTE on T-Mobile.
It's well worth the $40 to unlock the bootloader. You can root, install roms, and pretty much do whatever you want to your phone.
Side note: I don't think there is an official T-Mobile rom since the T-Mobile version is the unlocked GSM version.

If it is not on 4.4.2 already, you can root it and use a SafeStrap ROM. If it's on 4.4.2 already, you're out of luck. I don't think AT&T has sent out the update already, so it probably doesn't have 4.4.2.

Root and tethering question

I'm not familiar with the Moto x xt1053 at all, I've been doing some searching using tapatalk so it's not the easiest.
What I'm trying to figure out is if there's a full root method and a tether app that runs off of my phone data rather than my hotspot plan. Also if there's anything else I should know I'm getting myself into. Thank you in advance.

The XT1053 is either the GSM Developer Edition or the GSM "unlocked" (includes T-Mobile SIM) from Moto Maker.
You can unlock the bootloader on it via Motorola's web site, but unless you have the Developer Edition, you void your warranty. Once the bootloader is unlocked, you can root any rom version on there.
IF you get the Non-Dev Edition and do not want to unlocked (so you keep your warranty), then you have to worry about what rom is on your phone. If it already has 4.4.2 installed, you can't root it with a locked bootloader. If you have 4.4 or lower, you can root, but do NOT take the update to 4.4.2. For more details see what I've already typed over in this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/-t2702982
As for tethering, there are various options once you root depending on your carrier.
Thank you got the info! How do I know if it's the dev edition or not? If it's already on 4.4.2 can I downgrade like I would using Odin with my Samsung?

Dev edition is black face, woven white back, silver accents (button/camera ring) and says "Developer Edition" on the back. "GSM Unlocked' wont say Dev Edition on back, and can be black or other color backs.
as for downgrade, please take the time and use the LINK I supplied, its answered over there.

Its not dev edition. Then again, the warranty is non-transferrable... so unless the person you are getting it from is a friend/family member who could send it for warranty repair later, the warranty wouldn't apply to you so unlocking wouldn't impact you.
I'm not worried about a warranty at all. So basically, from what I gather, I can root no matter what, but if it's on 4.4.2 I have to unlock the bootloader first?

Yup.. as said in the other thread, if its on 4.4 (or lower), you can use SlapMyMoto/MotoWpNoMo to root and disable write protection.
however, unlocking the bootloader & rooting is way way easier.

Thanks And Sorry For My Bad English Skills
Your going to want to look in the Moto g 1st Gen forums. This Is for the 2014 version. It's just Moto g. Also you just unlock the bootloader then flash twrp. After that push super su to your internal storage and reboot into twrp. Then flash super su (with twrp) and your good to go

Idk I'm not a developer. More of a technology enthusiast. I wouldn't risk it. If it doesn't work your phone won't even boot into fastboot mode. It would become a paper weight. Unless you don't really care about losing your phone, then I'd go for it
