Hi All,
I am using Bare Bean 2 Rom by XxPixX ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181871 )
i dont want to move to any other rom coz this is the best rom for me.
but i want to use themes from ROM Note 3.1 fmw-xxlta by danivancouver ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2520075 )
Can someone provide me a guide how i can make these themes compatible with Bare Bean 2
The way I've always done it. Copied framework-res.apk to my pc. Then I've opened it with winrar, replaced all the images I needed and just put it back to my phone (also check for good permissions).
But first of all, always do a backup, so keep your original framework file in case You would break Your phone (make sure You have usb debugging enabled).
Important notice: don't rename anything in the archive, if You want to rename anything do it in some folder and then copy it to archive.

Hey guys I found a new thread of a new keyboard to our wildfire! ;D It's from Gingerbread(android 2.3), it is really nice and i decided to share to all that dont know it.
Tutorial:
Requirements
-Device must have root priveleges with Superuser
-Android 2.2 Froyo operating system
-The latest “Voice Search” application from the Android Market
-Make a backup of LatinIME.apk in system/app folder just in case!
Clock work mod and rom manager is needed but we are using wildfire and all of us use it so i wont put in requirements.
Bugs:
Vibrate on keypress doesn’t work(nice, don't eat my battery )
How to install:
Download the keyboard from here:
http://briefmobile.com/Fabolous_GBKB_Fix.zip (do not extract the files just copy the zip file how you download it)
Now connect your cellphone to computer and send the .zip file to your sdcard
Disconnect from computer, turn off phone or reboot into recovery(clock work mod) then install zip from sd card>choose zip and fla****/installIt!
Reboot phone and done! Go to messages and create a new message and you will see a new keyboar from Gingerbread(android 2.3)!
Tested and working with cyanogenmod 6.1.0 rc2.

hi there. i am wondering if someone can help me and guide me how to **** mine own rom?
at least how to change something basic in rom...like put other launcher , video player...etc. and all ZIP it than flash it via CWM.
i was searching forum for it but... cant find anything ( maybe i missed it ).
btw... it's for Win 7 64 bit. platform.
any way...sry if i am missed some similar post but... ty for any info.
you can change launcher by using 3rd party apps such as 'home switcher'.
y, know that mate. just need someone to explain me how to make all that what i ask and than make flashable zip file.
download a lauchner like GoLauncher.apk open your Rom.zip, dont extract!! only open it,go to the directory system/app,put the golauncher.apk in and delete the LGLauncher.apk ,you can do the same with camera, videoplayer, sms and somethting.
you must have a replacement for the original, thats all.
for optic, first go copy systemUI.apk and framework-res.apk from the open zip to your PC,then go to the xda kitchen, make your style, open the downloaded zip and copy the backed framwork and system apk to Our rom zip,of corse in the right direction;-) and then you flash your own styled rom

Steps To Modify SGS3 Photowall Live Wallpaper
Hi All,
I had tried multiple roms and when used the Photowall Live Wallpaper, I could not point it to the photo gallery to use my own pics. The gallery would never open and I had to do with the default pics which came with the SGS3. (Not sure if anyone has faced this issue).
After playing around with the apk files I did find a way to use my own pics in the PhotoWall Live Wallpaper. I hope you would like this.
A: Uploading your pictures in the Photowall.apk file.
1. Select a maximum of 8 pictures that you wish to use in the Photowall and move them to a folder on your desktop.
2. Rename the 8 pictures as follows: g1p1.jpg / g1p2.jpg / g1p3.jpg / g1p4.jpg / g1p5.jpg / g1p6.jpg / g2p1.jpg / g2p2.jpg
3. Extract the Photowall.apk from ICS ROM onto a folder on your desktop. (I used RemICS v1.3, haven’t tried this is on any other ROM).
4. Open the apk file using winrar. (Do not extract, just open)…. Navigate to the PhotoWall.apk\res\raw folder.
5. You should be able to see the files as shown in the screenshot 1.jpg
6. Click on “Add” and navigate to the folder where you have stored the pictures (remember to rename them as mentioned in step 2).
7. Select the files and click “OK”. This will replace the original files in the Photowall.apk.
8. Once this is done, exit/close the apk file opened in winrar.
You can try installing this file directly by copying it to your phone, however that didn’t work on my phone.
B: Uploading your customized Photowall.apk file in your ROM. (Tested on RemICS v1.3).
1.Open the Rom that you wish to flash (I used RemICS UX v1.3) using winrar (do not extract)
2.Navigate to \data\app folder.
3.Click on “Add” and navigate to the folder where you have saved your customized Photowall.apk. (Make sure that the name is “Photowall.apk”).
4.This will replace the original Photowall.apk with your customized file.
5.Exit and save the zip file.
6.Use the new edited Rom and copy it to the root of your “Internal SD” card.
7.Reboot the phone to “Recovery” and flash the new Rom. (I did not lose my data & settings as I did not wipe cache partition or Data/Factory, however this may or may not work for you. To be on a safer side please backup your data and applications. I will not be responsible for any data loss or bricked devices while trying this procedure. Try at your own risk.).
You can watch the video on the link below (sorry for the poor quality)

Special thanks toTeam RemICS for the beautiful Rom.

I think you over complicated the install process by a bit...
Why not just use a file explorer with root permissions and place the new Photowall.apk back to /system/app where it actually belongs, reboot the phone and be done with it? (/system/app is where live wallpapers that come with the phone are located by default, not /data/app)
As you can see here on my GS3, two of the several live wallpapers (phase beam and photo wall) are in /system/app
And these are the proper permissions for the apk
I tried that, but that wont work..... that the reason i mentioned
" You can try installing this file directly by copying it to your phone, however that didn’t work on my phone. "
Unfortunately wht u menitioned didnt work for me...
correct me if I am wrong... did u mention SG3... for SG3, you dont need to modify the photowall.apk, if you go to the wallpaper settings you can select pics from your gallery..

Yes, I understand that on the SG3 you don't need to do this, but on a Captivate, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to place it in /system/app and still have it work.
Hi i just wanted to know if anyone knows the name of the samsung keyboard in system/apps.
I wanted to replace it with the older keyboard that the SGN first came with.
I would really appreciate it if someone could give me the keyboard apk from the older samsung rom. The one with no numbers on top and bigger buttons.
Thanks.
Also does anyone know how to open a tar file on windows to add and remove apk's ???
AxT9IME.apk is the name of the stock keyboard.
I do not have the stock keyboard as i run a custom ICS ROM on it, You can have the stock ICS keyboard if you wish ? But i dont think its what you're looking for, However you could download a stock SGN ROM (GB ?) and extract it, I think its named LatinIME.apk in older Samsung GB ROMs
Also, Its not possible to open the contents of a .tar file on windows, Inside that .tar is files only recognised by ODIN and Linux machines (or emulators)
You can just remove apps with titanium backup, or freeze them (which is ideal if they are system apps) until you know they are safe to remove, A list of safe to remove apps can be found here, https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...1gdDJRekl4QmkyNmIzUmRvX2h3UDVkQXc&output=html

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
Do you know how can you add apps to a stock ROM downloaded from the internet??
if you have the rom and its a cwm flashable version you can just use 7zip to add remove parts of the rom and then flash it.
its called being a 7zip jockey there's a lot of them on xda lol
Hy everyone i've searched for this on google and XDA but i didn't find anything i want, so the point is i wanna remove some of stock files of system and add someones new and i wanna make a zip file for recovery so then i can simply install the OS from my recovery mod... and when i wanna make some upgrades i cam simply edit with a normaly archiver program like 7-zip, winrar, or powerarchiver or another program.. i wanna specify that i'm new in development on android
