[Q] pencil input - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Like the z ultra can z1 use pencil input? Or did Sony add something to ultra's screen?
I was thinking maybe turn z1 sensitivity up?

Ultra Z has as far as I know added the resistive touchscreen layer on top of capacitive. so it's a no for Z1 unfortunately. I still hope that there will be available styluses with different levels of presure recognized - something like that for example: www.wacom.com/en/us/everyday/bamboo-stylus-feel

Thanks was some stupid youtube review said sony just turned sensitivity up on screen lol never mind.

Oddly, I've been able to use my Z1 with gloves though it works poorly.

Screen protector water performance

I'm quite sure I'm going to take the default screen protector off soon but I'm just wondering if it effects how the Z works with water on screen. For example I'm able to spatter the screen with water, like rain, and still navigate menus and type. Will I still be able to do this?

Thank you, but I'm already following that thread, I'm asking something different.
I don't mean whether I might break the waterproof seal, but whether the bare glass works as well with raindrops on as with the protector.

[Q] Why Sony Do Not Use LED Screen For Smart Phones?

Sony has the LED technology for their TVs so why they do not use it for smartphones???
Was asking myself the same question yesterday.

Because of water resistance feature.
In short, from what I've briefly read online, is that led
consume a lot more electricity and would drain the battery even worse. True?

samsung actually can use led screen, but they were cutting cost.sony also can make led display phone.why sony?r u keeping low profile?too shy?
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
The AMOLED that Samsung used on their phones are OLED display, where each pixel emits its own light. TV although advertised as LED TV, are not OLED - it is a marketing strategy to sell LCD backlit with LED instead of CCFL. Your phone has the same LCD screen with LED backlight but just not termed as LED screen unlike TV.
truly, does sony has the led technology in their hand?

Personally, i dont like oled screens. Too many pastel colours. Maybe because of not receiving real colurs over oled screens. Sony allways known with realistic images.

Anyone switching to s4 active?

I have xperia z and i love it. I always swim with it on the beach. Even dive about 24ft on the beach while filming. No problem.
Its just the battery and the speakrrs for me after being wet get so weak. But everything else is good.
I just want to know anyone have try the s4 active and is it better? Thanksd.
I have it for about 5 months now.

Swimming with XZ, man you are asking youself a trubble If the salt water gets inside you can expect your phone to die soon.
Once I had a sammsung. I probably wouldn't go near them again that oversaturated, kid looking screen is just not my cup of tea.

No man, all people saying that is bull.
Ita just all my waterproof phone moto defy, xperia active, xperia z been using them in salt water with no problem.
Just dont let the any water salt/fresh inside the phone then its all good.
And i dont care about amolet or not because its just a wate of time to argue all i want is that my screen is usable.
Im just afraid that the samsung active have a small rubber seal. Not like in xz all the port have big ass seal.

Both has the same ip7 so my guess is the same. From pocketnow review of s4 active, the screen of the active can't be used when it is wet while the z can. I mean Wet, not when submerged. For the speaker I'm not sure. Cause I don't have the s4 active hehe.

Z's screen isn't any better. Tft too. To me, looking from YouTube reviews of z vs active, the active looks brighter and it looks better than the z. Maybe its just me. Hehe. And one advantage of the active is the flapless audio jack but I'll never trade the beautiful xperia z just for that.

TFT on the active vs the amolad screen on the S4 that's what I ment. The active is waterproof but specs wise the active isn't as good as the S4 and yes the flaps can be annoying but we'll I think so that the z looks better then the active. The Z actually has better specs then the active. In some areas.

Processor if it does make a difference which I believe does.Battery cause im a heavy user. The screen which looks better imo(from video review, not seen it myself) . Advertisement of it to actually be used to take photos under water. That's all I like. But I won't buy it.

Yes I agree. Then some ppl will come in and say don't you read the manual? You can't bring in to the pool blah blah. The water resistance is just for accidents. Just because you have an airbag doesn't mean you go crash your car lol. I guess it's just to each of his own on how one wants to use it but not blaming Sony / anyone if it damages your phone.

Guys i already got the active.
Screen
And damn the screen is so better! Way better than my z
I dont care if its amoled or not. As long it is usable in light i dont care realy.
Battery
The active is longer but not much (on my use)
But hate the active for not having a dock or wireless charging. Im scared the flap might get thorn in time.
Build
Z is better. Because the back of active is very scary, i mean when putting it under water i get much more confident in my z. But the build quality is better than s4
Camera
The z of course.
Other thing i notice or my personal preferences
Gps lock better on active
Active is faster on daily basis but not much
And the speaker after getting wet is still very loud not like the z.
Im using my main phone is galaxy note 2
And my secondary phone i think ill be using active because of the battery.
But when im goint to the beach for vacation ill be using the z.
All i can say is that you canot go wrong with both phones.
Lets not hate active or z. Remeber its just a phone guys.

Compatible parts
Hi, can someone help me? I buyed a digitaliser on ebay and I have replaced this fine, but the touch is very bad, very unresponsive, glove mode doesn,t work now and multitouch ******
The seller gave me the money back
Now I want to buy an ORIGINAL PART FROM SONY, not compatible parts. Where I can go to buy this?
Please help me! Now I have installed the broken glass because it works fine. I prefer the broken glass to a clean glass but unresponsive.
The Sony digitaliser contains both active and passive capacitors that's why it can have glove mode and mutitouch perhaps the digitaliser you bought only contained passive capacitors. That's the normal ones. Try a more expensive one. Also those problems could be caused by a bad connection try cleaning the connections with contact cleaner. If you want to be sure its a Sony part you may have to go to a Sony centre.

If its marked as an OEM part then it should be made by the same manufacturer as the original part so that would be your best bet. Unfortunately online it hard to be sure.

On my broken screen it says the same but "40" / "48" (i,m not sure because it,s installed yet) instead of "8" Can be a part of the region code?
The digitiser of the models C5302 / C5303 / C5306 / M35h are the same?
Thanks bro, this thread will help more people in the future
EDIT: On my original broken screen it says "44" xD
The xperia SP range are all identical hardware the difference is the radio baseband ie the frequencies they are capable of receiving. The C5302= 3g version C5303= global LTE/4G version and the C5306= american LTE version I would just buy an OEM digitaliser and fit that

I have found more information:
On the photo you can see how the fake glass have 3 dots on top when the original SP cristal have 2
On the picture is not appreciated but you can see how obviously the white is not the same in both, The original have a brilliant white and the fake have darker white.
When you give touches at the original cristal it feels sturdy but on the fake cristal sounds cheap

It's possible that some glove won't work, works with this one http://www.sportsshoes.com/product/adi4951/adidas-clima365-climawarm-running-gloves/ but i must admit that's not really perfect...
I could sometimes press something with my cheap ski gloves. I'm sure that it wasn't my finger touching it directly. It all depends from the gloves.
