Im running HoloBlur Preformance and when I use my phone with wifi tether the internet doesn't work, wether its a laptop, tablet or PS3. Cant figure out what the deal is. I looked all over the forums and I didn't see anything. Any Ideas?
You need to have ",dun" added in you APN type.
You also need to change dun_apn_changeable to 1 in settings.db.
See the tethering thread.
OK switched to LiguidSmooth. Its running beast, but this time Hotspot is just erroring out and not starting.I tried doing the same thing as before, but its CM Based so it doesn't have the com.Motorola.android references. So I tried adding under com.android.provider area but still doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas?

I just rooted my phone last night with cm 6.0 and everything is running great. I tried installing the wifi tether apk and everyone I try makes my phone crash and reboot. I even tried barnacle with no luck either.
Any suggestions or does someone know of a working version for the Slide?
Thanks
I tried barnacle yesterday and it worked for me, I was using the legacy version, if u use the new one u have to disable wpa or something like that

I tried the new version of barnacle and disabled wpa and it won't do anything. It shows its connected but no webpages will load.
So seeing as our only working wifi tether app foxfi was patched out in the .229 leak I strongly believe we have a moto spy among us reporting these things back. Anyway has anyone developed a work around for wifi tethering? Foxfi starts but has no connectivity, wifi tether app still has the same issue. Ive done the sql entitlement hack and it works great but im iffy about using the built in app as im sure its reported separate tethering usage as its designed. Thoughts?
Have you tried wifi tether app and using the ics generic profile yet? This was an easy fix on the previous releases.

I couldn't even get foxfi to work and im on .2233
Only thing ive been able to do is use pdanet with usb tether
I too am a little nervous about the sql hack.

I could never get wifi tether to work with any profile on 2233. Foxfi would give me a network to connect to but it would error out trying. I've been too lazy here lately to do the sql entitlement hack and i'm not sure I want to. Been using pdanet lately over usb.
The only tethering that I could make work with 2233 was the built in.
On 230: I just tried wifi tether and saw the network available but it gave me an error trying to connect. With foxfi it gives me an error in the app "WiFi mode has failed on your phone. Please use Bluetooth mode instead
This is really odd but foxfi just started working again after hours of it not working last night.

FoxFi works on mine. 230
Worked fine for me on first try after installing 229, haven't installed 230 yet.

FoxFi has worked in all 3 ICS leaks for me.
I will say there are times I need to launch it, let it fail, reboot the phone and it works forever after that... but it always ends up working.
My status:
Unable to modify Tue entitlement check SQLite is unable to open DB.
WifiTether 3.1 beta 14 using Generic ICS creates hotspots but nothing is able to connect.
FoxFi failed to create hotspot, rebooted and working up to 11mb.

Can you actually verify root access? For example, go into a terminal editor and type 'su'.
I'm wondering if anyone running either cm 10 or Pac roms is having issues after a few weeks, of wifi attempting to connect then saying saved and doing that over and over again and not connecting. I know other people not necessarily using this phone have had this issue before but, I can't seem to find any solutions to the problem. I am currently running Pac all in one Rom and it was working great until today but, I have had these issues on cm 10 before and the only thing that seems to fix is to flash a new Rom and I like this one and don't want to re-flash.

Mine was doing that but a dirty flash fixed it and I still have all my settings.

I've been having this issue as well, again and again.. I've had about a 50/50 success rate with dirty flashing. Anyway, I believe the problem has something to do with the dhcp assigned ip addresses from the router. It's something on the phone side of it because changing dhcp settings, lease times etc., on the router have no effect. When you lose WiFi and it goes into that loop and won't connect, go into WiFi settings, and forget your network. Then select your network again and enable the advanced settings. Change from dhcp to static and then assign yourself a local IP. I have a Linksys router so I entered 192.168.1.8 . so I believe a netgear router would be 192.168.2.?? , the ?? or 8 being whatever is unused on your network. If you haven't already, enter your password and connect. I connected immediately after that. I understand this isn't really a "fix" because won't help you when trying to connect to networks that you can't assign your own IP, like say Starbucks or somewhere.. But hopefully this may point someone who knows more about this stuff in the right direction to actually fix whatever is off in the phone. Drivers maybe? Hope this helps!

Thank you for the explanation I tried a dirty flash and that solves it for about 12 hours. I am getting faster at flashing and restoring everything and am now flashing a new Rom every couple of days so it's not that big of a deal I'll just take it as a sign I should try a new Rom I'm now running the unofficial aokp Rom and I'm liking it next time it happens I'll just try another. Thanks for all the help glad to know the issue isn't because I've done something wrong.

Is there anyway to fix this issue yet?
@TTLayland said exactly what I'd say...static IP. I'll add the the Devs are working on updated WiFi drivers for the kernel. When that's ready hopefully that'll work for ya'll. I haven't had any WiFi issues for the past few weeks. Connected to my House, McD's, and the hospital.
Post the actual make & model of your router and I/we'll see what can be found for it.
Also, try setting the phone to 2.4 Ghz only...my old router was 2.4ghz and the auto setting would randomly kick me. New router broadcasts in both 5ghz and 2.4ghz, I connect to the 5ghz one and use auto without issue.

a lot of the times I have to log into my router and turn the security completely off and then log on with my phone get a connection and then log back into my router turn the security back on and then I'm good to go.
Kinda like the flashing back to ICS to get a GPS lock to work on custom jb ROM's

Ok, I didn't realize Devs were working on it. I have statics set for my home, but being a Network Admin I travel to many different networks and because of the way our network transverses settinig an ip is not an option as the same SSID is used for about 95 different sites. So DHCP is a must.
I just thought it was strange that the Carbon rom I am using was working for about 2 weeks correctly then stopped connecting, sometimes a reboot will get it to connect.
Thanks.
I wish it would work I just gave up on wifi on ahd if using custom rom

Hi,
I'm currently having difficulties with WiFi hotspot on my HTC One. I really like this phone, however I am THIS CLOSE to selling it. I've had HTCs in the past and the hotspot function was never an issue with these previous phones.
I am running MaximusHD 20.0.0
The WiFi hotspot OCCASIONALLY works with security disabled, however even then it is very tempermental
I usually appear to have connected (showing up as a connected device on the phone end) however it never seems to show full connection on the PC end (i.e. limited connection and no internet access or connecting times out altogether)
I have tried with multiple computers with no success
Any ideas? Appreciate the help in advance.
Cheers,
Dave
Does anyone have any ideas for trouble shooting? Is anyone else facing the same issue? Can anyone else report their WiFi hotspot working without any issues at all?
Works just fine for me, try it with another ROM (I'm ARHD), and try using the stock hotspot setting found in "more" category of your settings. Also, your carrier may be blocking it.

Is this an extra feature that you have from your carrier? Or do they not know you're tethering? Or you have the wifi hotspot as part of the regular usage for your plan?
Have you tried the google weireless tether apk instead of the stock wifi hotspot?
Is there a tethering guard.apk in your system apps?

Thanks for the replies people.
I was on ARHD and had issues there as well. Also I only ever use the stock WiFi hotspot, the HTC one.
I'm with BOOST Mobile, a MVNO on the Telstra Australia network. I have been informed on a local forum that tethering is not restricted with our plan/deal, so there should be NO issue from the network end. Mobile internet works without any problems.
I'll have to look at that, the Google Wireless Tether apk, hadn't thought of that, will report back.
What is that? I had a look through the ALL APPS section in settings and couldn't see anything like that, tethering guard apk...

Could it have anything to do with my firmware version NOT matching the ROM I am currently using?
As an update:
It appears that going S-Off and upgrading firmware to match my ROM (now on InsertCoin latest) has fixed the issue. Will report in detail once I can test properly.

I'm on the M developer preview with the stock m kernel. And radio. I have the settings option and have reset my APN. Also, i have no service down in the caves, so i know it has to use Wi-Fi. Not sure where to go from here. Had same problem on sinless ROM. Thanks.

I am having the same problem on 5.1.1. I know Wifi Calling works because I seen it turn on at the hospital but at home nothing. I'm currently trying to tinker with my router to see if anything is causing it to fail or not. There is talk of opening up TCP and UDP ports on your router and disabling SIP ALG on your router. Seems to work for some and not for others. I am one of those others where its not working so far.

I thought it has been reported to be working on the Google M preview with T-Mobile. Did you do full wipe and format user data?
I am fairly confident it depends on your router settings because Wifi Calling works great when I was at a fast food joint today that offered free wifi with a username and password.
When I 1st upgraded to 5.1.1 everything seemed to work, now I can't get wifi calling to come on. Using at home with same router....it stopped working for me 100%
I finally got it working today. After reading the internet I needed to enable IPsec pass through and SIP pass through in my Asus RT-N65u router. I also setup QoS for the various ports that T-Mobile and it finally works. Took me a full week to figure it out.
