[Q] AT&T SGH-I987 Help - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I have an AT&T galaxy tab SGH-I987 with froyo 2.2. I have managed to root the device using super one click root. However, now I am trying to follow the Overcome installation guide. I downloaded all the files from the forums here. When I try to install the bootloader patch apk , I get the message install blocked, (your phone is set to block installation of applications not obtained from android market). I have tried apk installers, but none seem to work, i have gone to settings and checked the developer mode option, but it does not have an option to allow installation of unknown files. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have been reading forums for days trying to find a working solution to this. Thanks in advance

fixed
sorry for the wasted forum space, I finally overcame this problem using the super wonder machine program to install the app, worked great

Need some clarification

Ok I have been looking through the tutorials for 2 days now and I finally today rooted my G1 and upgraded to the Cyanongen rom. Everything seems to be working great except for one issue. I attempted to install and run the tether wifi app but when I do I get this message "Cannot start Tether service Error: Permission denied. I am guessing it is not allowing it to run because the phone somehow did not get rooted.
When I rooted and installed Cyanongen I followed these directions
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
I made sure that I followed each step carefully and didnt miss anything.
I then found this tutorial which had slightly different instructons on how to to root from the one I posted previously.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563679
Am I going to have to start all over again with the tutorial listed above? Or can I do something to simply add root access to the current rom I have installed? Thanks alot for any help you can give me
No you should still be good. This seems like a pretty simple fix. Go into your app drawer, open up superuser permisions app, and delete everything thats checked with a (-). Then, open the wireless tether app and click on allow, and check the remember box. That should fix it!

US Cellular Galaxy Tab?

Hi Folks,
I've tried a couple searches and found nothing on this so far. I downloaded and installed Z4 Root on my USCC Galaxy Tab. It seems to have worked. I used Android Mate from the market and it requested SuperUser Access and I was able to grant it. I was wondering if anyone has tried to install Rom Manager and use the VZW version of Clockwork to allow installing other roms to it.
Anyone tried this?
Bump**************** Anyone?
are you trying to call people? Why not google voice!

Not sure if this is what your looking for but I just rooted and flashed ICS to my US Cellular Galaxy tab. And now it works great!
I just followed the instructions here: [HOLY CRAP][SPRINT P100] Stock to ICS - Complete Walkthrough

[Q] HTC One Root Problem

Hey All !
I have a HTC One and I'm fairly a fanatic about conserving battery life so much so I used to be quite happy when I got 2 days out of it when it was first purchased, after the Android 4.2 update it went down although after scouring the internet I managed to bring it up with some good tips and tricks. I've recently looked into rooting and I took the plunge after I was convinced by the benefits although I would seem to have run into a problem of a weird sort !
I followed a video which showed me how to unlocked the bootloader and root the HTC One and It worked with the SU application showing my phone was rooted, I took the liberty of downloading a custom ROM and after downloading a few root applications, I've been getting notifications from some saying my phone has to be rooted and the app seizes to work. I've downloaded arious root checking apps and out of 5 apps which were downloaded, only 1 said my phone was rooted. I'm quite confused as I downloaded an app called "Greenify" when my phone wasn't rooted and it wouldn't work and now I downloaded it and it actually works ! I downloaded Titanium Backup and that wouldn't work along with a host of others asking for root permission.
I was wondering if anyone could be kind enough to tell me what to in order to remedy this, if not can someone advise on how to delete the ROM so I'm working with just a stock version of sense WITH root capabilities (before ROM installation)
Thanks !

[Q] Missing MTP after root

Hi, first time poster although I've been lurking around xda for years. Anyway I rooted my htc one and generally it works well. I have encountered a few problems though and would be extremely greatful for any assistance. Googling hasn't given me any proper solutions yet. So here we go
1. After rooting I no longer have access to MTP so I can't transfer files
2. Busybox does not seem to want to install. It either resets my phone or says it hasn't been installed
3. I tried to uninstall the drivers for my phone but when I do my device manager becomes non responsive

[Q] how to connect my GG1 to my OPO

Hi,
I just recently bought a OPO, and i am trying to connect my GG1 to it. I have been reading through multiple threads trying to figure out the best way to accomplish this task and each one seems to have their own way of doing it. So, I am asking if anyone owns both devices and has found a procedure, whilst maintaining functionality, and stability. Both devices are stock- OPO is on 4.4.4-XNPH05Q, and GG1-V700XXUBNA6.
Any help is much appreciated, thank you.
You can either try and get the gear manager apk to work, or you can flash null rom on the gear and use SWAPP link or Sprocket found here in the forums.
Would it be possible to flash to a 5.02 stock ROM and just DL gear manager?

If you keep your phone on kk you can use just about all the gear features, would recommend skins tizen mod v3. Search Google for galaxy gear on nexus, follow the tutorial here on xda and you should be good to go.
Null works fine on the gear as well only with a non Samsung phone you are going to have to run it more as a stand alone android device. With a non Samsung phone and watch on tizen IMO is the way to go.
i have the OPO with same version CM but am running AK kernel,
you can get the gear to connect but it involves a lot of trial and error i will leave a link to the gear manager files that are working for me,you will need to root your OPO,and i would also root the gear just to be safe, then you will need to install es file explorer onto the device or download and install 'wondershare' onto your p.c. for file transfering also the correct samsung drivers,do not have links for any of those as i had them already installed on my p.c. but there is a guide for rooting and installing es file explorer via ADB on the galaxy gear home page here on the forum which worked for me to root and install es file explorer.apk...there are also links for those files in the description as well
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-gear#root
haha...as i write this i found the tutorial that worked for me...the only thing that it does not explain is that you have to put GearManagerStub.apk into device/system/app using es file explorer or wondershare,(for p.c.) before you install anything
then follow the instructions in the link below and it should work on your oneplus,i did keep getting FC messages but the thing kept connected and still worked so i just ignored them

Awesome, I have since rooted my OPO, and my gear to try and start the process. I will be trying the guides provided by mrsim and see how it goes. Hopefully, I'll get lucky.
Will post results after, and any noteworthy info that might help someone else.
