I am getting bored with stock bootanimation therefore i managed to make my own one. Amazed by ferro fluid work in you tube, then I make it for my bootanimation (Stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2). You need busybox, rom toolbox installed to work with yours. Just want to share....hope someone like it.....

You normally need to be using a supported ROM or kernel.
If you are running SkyHigh kernel, refer to Post #3 in the kernel thread.
I am not familiar with the method OP had posted.

In case you are interested to try. Here is my way:
Custom Boot Animation in Stock ODEX ROM is possible. I implemented this in my Galaxy Tab 7.7 Jelly Bean 4.1.2
Reguirements:
1. Root
2. Init.d Support. You can use PIMP MY ROM to have it in your ROM. Download it here.
3. Busybox Installed. Grab it here.
4. Download Bootanimation4U from here
install it via CWM (Clock Work Mode Recovery) or you can directly download from here.
Or you can download this application (JRummy boot animations) from google play store
If all requirements have been met then you are ready to have custom boot animations in your stock root android ROM.
How to use:
Unlike DEODEX ROM by which you have to add bootanimation.zip to /system/media, you need to put the bootanimation.zip to /data/local instead. Because JRummy boot animations root make it that way to create the folder.
I like it thanks
Thanks
Work in SkyHigh ROM :good:

I want to install one of the boot animations from the Themes and Apps Forum but would like the option to restore the stock Samsung GT-N7000 one later.
Can anyone tell me how to do this please?
Thanks
what rom an kernel are you on?
usually its done by pasting the bootanimation.zip file in the system/media file and setting the permission to rw-r--r--
when you want to revert back, just delete the file.
Kernel needs to be compatible with custom boot animation
Thanks for he reply. I'm uing the PhilZ kernel that came with the Ultimate JB XXLSC v5.1 ROM.

/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
using root explorer
give permission rw-r--r-- ( chmod 644 filename ,using terminal) for both

hi daria02
this mod dont worked on odex rom
if you install this rom using odin you must install custom recovery and then install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2073225
its that same rom for france but deodexed and rooted
when you do it this you can use 4way reboot mod
Can I use this on kwbr's Espresso for the 3110/3113? It is de-odexed, but this says for 3100, so I thought I'd check.

About that boot-animation, I see that it's not working on some device. I recommend that do not use that setting. Just restore your backup boot-animation. But if you are willing to change your boot-animation, just use this method.
-Search some boot animations on forum search then. . . download it, place it to your SD-card
-Use Es-Explorer or any Root explorers
-Set up into Up until root directory and Mount system as R/W
-Go to /system/media/ as you can see the boot animation, rename the original bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak that you can restore it anytime if you screwed up.
-Copy the downloaded bootanimation.zip to /system/media (If the downloaded file has another file name, just rename it into bootanimation)
-After that, long press the bootanimation.zip file and go to properties, set it up as readable.
-Restart your device, then. . . boom! :good:

I understand that only stock samsung based roms will let you flash the Note2 Camera app. But they do not let you change the bootanimtion easily with the bootanimation.zip method (or the Boot Animations app from the playstore.
Basically on my lte gs3 i'd like to be able to change boot animations and also be able to flash the note2 camera together. (I love the slow motion feature on the note2 camera app).
Anyone have any ideas? Or is there a rom out that which includes both features pre-installed?

Actually boot animation is not that hard to do manually... find the one that you want, place the bootanimation.zip in root/data/local. If it comes with PowerOn.ogg then place the file in root/system/media/audio/ui and overwrite the current one. I am using bootanimation from the i9300 and its working fine for me.

Not correct a stock Samsung rom requires modifications to use boot zip .
Though there are now bootanimation QMG mods that can replace stock qmg boot files .

I didn't create this method and I take no credit for it, I just wanted to share this with the S6 Edge+ community because I hadn't heard of this before and it allows a whole new level of customization to TouchWiz ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/bootanimation-zip-support-note-4-t3157128
1. Scroll down in the thread to post 2, and from attachments download the MM file if you have Marshmallow, or LL if you have Lollipop
2. Download the file in your phone, and download a bootanimation.zip installer you want to use (not a pure boot animation but a zip you flash that replaces the boot animation)
3. Enter recovery, flash the BootanimationZipSupport file, and the bootanimation.zip installer file of your choice
4. Reboot, if you did everything right, you will see your new boot animation from a zip file, not a qmg file. This method for example lets me use a Cyanogenmod boot animation even when there isn't a qmg variant made of it
