Little Nice trick in kit kat - Nexus 5 General

When playing a game full screen you can swipe from top to bottom of the screen to reveal the notification bar.
Makes life a while lot easier not having to exit so when playing.
You can glance over notifications every time!

Had this on my S3 running Touchwiz Jelly Bean. Also when using AOSP custom rom this feature was available.
Nonetheless it is a handy feature as OP mentioned.

Heve it on my stock GNex.
Edit:
Actually I just double checked and it doesn't work on stock. I returned to stock because of claim for cracked screen. Got confused.

Stock Android never had this feature, it was introduced with kitkat. Samsung implemented it while ago with touchwiz.
Nexi 4, 4.4 + franco

Is it possible to hide the onscreen buttons when playing a game in full screen?

Yes and no.
There is an API for it, but not much uses it yet.

So I have to use that. That's all I wanted to know, just thought it would be more efficient to use the one that was already there if possible.
Whats the big deal with the pie control? Its almost useless , you can use your button to navigate, sliding on the edge of the screen and using it almost same with the existing physical button is making your life too complicated

Hard to reach back button one handed on Note for me at least, so I find it very nice to use.

[Q] how to Force notifications in expanded form ?

Hi
One of the quirks that I have with my new HTC one is that notifications always come in short form and I have to use 2 finger swipe to expand it.
AFAIR on my Galaxy S2, if new mail comes the gmail notification was in expanded form and I can easily archive or reply the mail.
Is there any way to force notification always to show up in expanded form
Regards
My one comes today. That sort of defeats the purpose, no? Darn htc.
yup thats sad
hope to get a solution soon

It's because only the top notification is expanded by default in jb. Power saver is in your way and not likely ever to change. I'm running viper rom and it can be disabled in viper controls. Works fine. See if manage apps has power saver listed. You might be able to disable notifications for it there.

I doubt it. That's just how jb works. It would get pretty cluttered. I mean it might be possible idk. But I've never seen such a thing. I highly recommend viper Rom. It's smooth as heck and you won't miss anything from stock. I'm running it with tl's wolfpack kernel at 2ghz with sweep2wake and logo2menu (makes htc logo into menu button). Only thing is the latest viper is on the new base from htc as of last night so custom kernels won't work right until source its released so they can be updated. I'm waiting for that before I update viper. I'm sure you can dl the older version if you wanted to run a custom kernel. It's 1.0.4

I'd just like to be able to expand them with one finger. I wonder why HTC messed with that. Hopefully that gets fixed when 4.2 comes.

Any jb Rom. The power saver notification is what prevents it because it's first. Viper allows you to disable it. If you don't have it at the top of your notifications, do you have a quick settings type app or any other notification pinned to the top?

Pull down in full screen apps

On my note 2 (romed don't remember about stock) I could bring the pull down at anytime even in 3d full screen apps. I noticed this is not possible with my one. Aside from installing status bar app, is this a known limitation? It's bugging the crap out of me. Thanks.

Yeah, some apps allow you to enable the notification bar while others do not in full screen. It would be nice to be able to do it though.
This is actually a FEATURE of Samsung apps. Literally the one and only thing I miss from my s3, I used it so much I considered not getting the One just for that reason.

Why I lOVE 4.3.

4.3 = Preview of Future Polish.
To me, 4.3 is a sneak peak into the Polish that is to come. Little additions like Emoji Keyboard and Individual App Permission Controls (with the help of Permission Manager) come all STOCK on Android 4.3. I currently am using the hybrid.33 Radio and can notice a slight increase in battery life. The whole ROM seems a bit smoother overall, but if this is any look into the future for what Android has in store as far as Polish, I'm all in!
Why DO YOU love 4.3?

As for the permission settings, it's a hidden feature that can be easily and conveniently accessed with this free app.
I personally love 4.3 for it's increased battery life. I get more SOT than I have ever got on 4.2.2 with custom ROM and kernel!
I love the battery life. This is the first time ever that my phone lasted 24 hrs even with light usage and i had WiFi on almost all the time. It seems to be sleeping very well with WiFi and am still not missing any notifications!

I personally use M-Kernel. But my two favorite kernels are M-Kernel and FrancoKernel. Both can be found in the Nexus 7 Original Development section.
You should install CM 10.1.2.
Everything seems to work and my Nexus 7 is faster than ever. I was running Paranoid Android and it was laggy as hell.

Disable Halo.
If you're running stock 4.3, disable Google currents. This is a tried and tested fix that should fix any choppiness.
If the problem still persists, follow what veeman said and try using other kernels

Isn't this generally the same with all devices?
For example, completely fill up your computer's hard drive and test how laggy it is compared to when it had nothing but the OS installed.
