[Q] Nokia MixRadio on Samsung ATIV S - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone can use Nokia MixRadio on SS ATIV S?(which downloaded via proxy)
I can't use this app,it still loading on splash screen and nothing happen
Sent from my GT-I8750 using Tapatalk

To use nokia apps on other devices, like the Ativ S, we will need the specific drivers and registry keys that only lumia phones have. That's why Nokia Apps run only on Lumias.
At this point, we can't do that because of some restrictions beyond the Interop-Unlock capabilities.
Sorry, I want nokia apps on my Ativ S too

But Nokia map/drive+ working fine on my ATIV S (and Panorama,Cinema graph also)
However, some of them not working, such as NokiaProCamera

Maybe, after downloading SysApp Pusher from store, when you change proxy, you can install it.

Now, these apps are branded as HERE, and most of them aren't exclusive to Nokia phones anymore.
Only a few apps branded as Nokia will work on Ativ S. Apps that requires specialized hardware (like Pureview Camera) probably will never work.

Derp.

Cool, android app is working on wp8.

Nokia Mixradio doesnt work on non nokia phones because it actually checks if you are on a nokia phone or not. Unlike most other apps.

I am currently using MixRadio on my Ativ without any problem with free tracks and limits like on Lumia'a phone. Just registry need to be change-> PhoneManufacturer->NOKIA

@djtonka can you upload the xap for me off your phone? I wanna see if I can make a non-interop version and remove the reg key check. I got addicted to this on my Lumia 521 (while my 8x was in for service), and when I installed it on my 8x, I got the "exclusive to Lumia" message.

Awesome! Can you give me the full path to this key? Thank you!

Did you get any problems after change that regristry,I've heard that it would be a problem after change that key.
Sent from my GT-I8750 using Tapatalk

On WP7, you could permanently (until hard reset) lose the ability to run Store apps by messing with the DeviceTargetingInfo key. We were therefore very careful of it.

Code:
Write value "NOKIA" (string) to key "PhoneManufacturer" path [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo].
Reboot your phone and after that search in the store for Nokia MixRadio!
Have fun!

[Q] video calling using just 3g and no application

Is it possible for someone to develop a ROM that supports video calling on 3g without any application... Just using my service providers video calling service?
Or any modification to stock ROM?
thank you....

That sounds impossible, correct me if I'm wrong but even the ability to call (dialer) IS an app
What you're asking sounds impossible
That's a little bit too literal..
I think OP meant no Third-Party Apps.
Just using the built-in dialer app.
I think it should be possible to re-create the dialer .apk, but I'm inclined to believe that it's pretty hard.
Good luck though!
In my old HTC diamond this feature was there but then there was no 3g. Now we have 3g but this feature has been withdrawn. I don't know what's the logic.
I agree this should be default in every phone.
Anyone has any update?

Ahh I see, still.. that probably wouldn't be too easy to do. (Although I think they could probably manage it.. however coming from the nexus one/incredible s and now the atrix.. I've never seen someone do something big like this on xda yet!) so probably possible but is it likely? I don't think so!
Don't own one but I guess galaxy phones support this feature right? Even symbian... Just saying... I had a Samsung wave earlier and it had touchwiz... And supported direct video calling based on my 3G network....
Sent from my Incredible S using Tapatalk
It's bizarre how there's no 3G video call solution anymore on HTC phones. I used to call my girlfriend on her LG phone and mine was an old Nokia 6700 Slide (running different operating systems) and it worked fine, albeit pretty blocky picture quality.

I think Sammy phones can do a lot more just because of their proprietary file system.
It's like touchwiz on older phones is just bada OS with Android compatibility hacked in (galaxy s were supposed to be bada OS until Android caught on). At least that's the explanation I've heard. I believe it 100%, because when I had a vibrant all the roms HAD to be based off of touchwiz somehow or another, except for cm7, and cm7 just as bad as android ports to Windows phones, so it seemed like an 'Android port' to me
Sorry for rambling haha

i thought will have 3G Call direct from this phone..
my question is why is it important to you guys not to use an application?
Is it possible that HTC and/or Google doesn't want a law-suit on a patent infringement from apple?

[Q] Wi-Fi Direct - Application needed

Anyone succeeded transferring files (photos, videos or any other file types) using Wi-Fi direct without using any third party software on both devices?
*** Bump ***
Anyone?
What a pity!
Apperenly no one used the Wi-Fi Direct?
I saw a big cry out in XS forum from people for this feature, but here no one seems to be using it
Wanna use ot to but cant get it to send or share files between a pair

unfortunatelly wifi direct no working
I've succesfully sent music over the computer and Phone with wifi, not using any apps whatsoever.
You can do it with OfficeSuite WiFi Direct. Install OfficeSuite on both phones, then use the Share menu to send files over WiFi Direct with OfficeSuite.

I've officesuite that came with the phone pre-installed. But when I try to share via Wi-Fi Direct, I don't see any share option to do so. But the connection between the device is successful.
I don't quite understand, why does this require an app? Isn't this a native Android feature?

Yes. It works (shows in the share) after I opened the OfficeSuite once.
But why is this feature requires an app? Isn't this an standard Android feature? No common built-in share application?

Bro, I know we can transfer via few other ways. Wi-Fi direct has one of the fastest transfer rates and more over trouble-free if it can work.
I'm talking about couple of gigs video files to transfer from one device to another on the go! Any suggestions without third-party software?

I use "send!" from the app store which uses nfc to make a wireless connection so you have much better speed. But if you want to use pure nfc just install "Android Beam" and you can send things through nfc to others even if they don't have the app. Under share it will pop up with the app that allows you to send it.

Doh, I guess android beam is now baked in so just let the devices connect and it will auto share the content, as I said I use send!. Here's the official tutorial https://support.htc.com/en-uk/005-HTC_One/0G0/040
The s4 has to have s-beam off and nfc on then it'll work.

[Q] WiFi direct & NFC files sending

Hi all,

Is only one option the bluetooth ? I mean without thirdparty app.
Thanks beforehand!

Same question here. I tried using NFC also but it is not working for me. I enabled it from settings. Any other setting required? First I thought its a hardware problem in my handset.
Have you tried using SuperBeam from the mkt? Works fine for me between my HTC One and an N4 - transferred a large video file pretty quickly between the two even though there was no wifi network/router available nearby

Thanks. SuperBeam successfully transfer one mp3 from S3 to One but it was impossible do it from One to S3.. I will try again tomorrow.
About thr NFC when i try to send imahe or music the S3 opens Playstore and says the item is not found!
I cannot understand where exact is the problem. As I said already it was VERY easy to transfer from S2( one of the best phone I have ever had) and S3...
PS: I love my ONE !

[APK] Samsung Apps (touchwiz-free)

All,
Here is a copy of the Samsung Apps APK that I have modified to remove the touchwiz requirement. Just download and install. This should provide the Samsung App store to custom roms/GPE edition roms on your devices.
YMMV, but this works perfectly on my device.

Yes. I removed the tw framework from the manifest for this apk, rebuilt and resigned using a development key.
It's not that simple for the rest of the gear stuff, unfortunately. :/

Since I don't have such a device to test on, you might give it a shot after making a backup of your current build.prop file.
